Hi there. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good, reasonable priced twin stroller for older babies (6 months & up)?
We have a used Peg Perego duette, but the babies have outgrown the car seats we got with it. My understanding is that it should have come with stroller seats, but ours didn't, oh well, it was used and we got a good deal. So, we have bought new car seats (Eddie Bauer 3 in 1), but we'll need a new stroller if we can't find a place to buy the peg perego stroller seats. Anyone using a stroller now that they love? Thanks! In my opinion, The Baby Jogger City Elite is the best side-by-side stroller on the market. (Please don't confuse this with the City Mini model...I am describing the model that has large rubber tires.) It steers beautifully and has great shocks. My kids are tall for their ages so it provides more head room than the MBUD. My sis-in-law has the MBUD and I tested it out while vacationing with them this summer. The Baby Jogger City Elite steers just as well and fits through doorways just as easily as the MBUD, and it has a parent console along the handlebar. I can't live without this feature. I stick sippy cups, keys, cell phone, bottles of water, my I-pod, my twin toddlers' shoes (when they remove them midway through a walk and I don't know where else to shove them! LOL!) and all kinds of other essentials. There are a total of 12 pockets! Six are hidden under a flap which is great for hiding a camera or even a small wallet if you are on a day trip somewhere. The Baby Jogger City Elite also holds up to toting a heavy diaper bag on back without flipping over when the twins get out of the stroller. I have the Skip Hop Duo Diaper bag and I just throw the strap over the strollers handlebar. My other, more lightweight double stroller (Peg Perego Aria) flips back in this situation making the bag spill or get soiled. I also like the feel of the handlebar on the Baby Jogger City Elite better than the handlebar on the MBUD...for me it's a texture issue. The MBUD has fine ridges and the Baby Jogger City Elite has a smoother texture.
The biggest difference and the most important factor for me when making my decision was the ease with which they each folded. The Baby Jogger has a really easy pull system to close it. Since I live in the suburbs and use this as a car stroller as well, I wanted a stroller that would close up easily. One note though, I happen to be tall (5 foot 11) and my husband is 6 foot 3. The handle bar is adjustable, but the Baby Jogger still seems a little taller than the MBUD. I don't find that to be a detraction, just thought I'd mention it. The basket underneath fits a ton of stuff and the canopy is also better than MBUD since it has two separate canopies. If one child is sleeping, you can lower the canopy while allowing the other child to still view the outside world. The canopy lowers much more than the MBUD. My sis-in-law needed to buy an extra sun shade made by a different company in order to shade her children on the beach this summer. I didn't need that and instead found my stroller to be cooler because there are so many vents on the canopy. In the winter the vents close up securely. Finally, I lugged my Baby Jogger onto the beach all summer long and it still looks brand new. I use it almost everyday and it has never given me any trouble. I have owned about six other strollers (including single strollers) and this is by far the best one I have ever used. It's worth it's weight in gold! Even though the price tag is high, (yet cheaper than the MBUD) it's the best investment I made after having my twins. Thanks Baby Jogger City Elite!!!! |
