Okay, I know I am planning ahead in leaps and bounds, but I was wondering... From all of you ladies who have been through this before, what size clothes should I pack to go home from the hospital in? Most of the single preg books say to pack the clothes that fit you at 5-6 months and they should fit you to go home from the hospital. With twins, what relative size will fit me 2-4 days post-delivery?
Are there any recommendations you may have on wardrobe do's and dont's? I am guessing to pack some variety in case it is a c-section so the belly will be lose. What about PJ's? Night gowns or big T-shirts and lose pants? I want to know because I've begun to "rough-it" with my wardrobe. I hope, being in the last 3 months, to minimize my wardrobe investments, but if I will need anything in the hospital, I may go ahead and buy now instead of rough it until then, and then buy it. Thanks- |

I totally over-packed for my post-partum stay in the hospital. I packed an my favorite outfits for every day I'd be there - I ended up just wearing hospital gowns the whole stay and just wore 1 of the outfits home. I had a c-section and they placed a catheter in the incision which was supposed to administer a numbing medication - I couldn't have worn pants anyway. And you are bleeding and they are checking 'there' constantly and maybe you'll be breastfeeding - the gowns are
in my book (although, not glamorous in the least!)For me - I was wearing the same maternity clothes that I wore the last months of pregnancy when I got home, for about 6wks. They were all the 'below the belly' style, not the big panelled over the belly things. But, everybody's experience is different - my over packing was somebody elses underpacking.

I just took some very comfortable sweat/pajama pants and shirts that fit before I was pregnant. However, I've been told that my postpartum weightloss was amazing fast. it's been only 3 weeks and I am back n my pre-pregnancy clothes.

I'm bringing pair of pants that I've worn home for the other 6 births and also bringing my largest materntiy pants that I wear now... As I'm nt' sure what I'll be in this time after twins.. I also bring bf shirt and a big t-shirt to go home in. I always wear the hospital gowns ..it's just eaiser that way...I do bring my own robe and slippers though.. will see whatever is comfortable at that time...

I wore my maternity clothes home that I was wearing at the end of my pregnancy. I was still wearing them a month later! Having a fresh incision across your lower belly limits your wardrobe. I hope for your sake you are one of those women who walk out in regular street clothes but please be aware that there are people on my regular board that still couldn't wear their non-maternity clothes yet at 5 months! As for what to take for during your hospital stay...I bummed out in hospital gowns for 8 days, covered by my own housecoat.

I brought a very comfy jogging suit that I wore during pregnancy, to wear home. While I was in the hospital, I wore the gowns would not have been able to wear anything different since I had a c-section also as pp mentioned. I knew that wearing that it would not put any added pressure on my incision and I would be comfortable atleast in my clothing if not anything else.

I would pack nursing nightgowns, whatever kind of undies you're comfortable in now, and big-T-shirts and sweat pants to wear home.
And socks. Don't forget to pack a few pairs of socks.

Forget jammies, I packed them, but I delivered vaginally, was afraid to leak on them, even with the giant jumbo pads. I wore the hospital gowns. You wear two, one on the right way, and one on backwards, the second one backwards creates a robe. I greeted guests this way, they weren't looking at me anyway, just the kids! To come home I wore sweat pants and a maternity top, everyone goes right home from the hospital to shower anyway.

I had a c-section. I packed gym shorts and maternity t-shirt to sleep in and wear while there. I wore a pair of maternity jeans and a smaller maternity shirt home. It was so cool though because my pants seemed so big.
