Default I made a tutu for Rose today. It came out great!

Really really simple. No sewing. Took 1/2 hr. Costs $3 w/o use of coupons (1.80 with coupons) per tutu plus elastic to make (1.29 pack of elastic would make at least 10 tutus). I'm going to make her one in a different color. Of course we practiced ballerina moves today!

Google "how to make a tutu" and there are a bunch of sites out there with pics.

Basically I used 2 colors of 6" wide tulle bought from the wedding section of Michael's craft store. Comes in a roll of 25 yards. Used my 40% off coupons! Cut 18 strips of each color 2' long strips each using my yardstick. So 36 strips total. 1 roll of one color will make 1 tutu. I bought 2 rolls of diff colors so now I have enough to make 2 tutus.

Held the elastic (5/8 thick I used but I doubt it matters as long as its thick enough) up to Rose's waist and cut it exactly her waist size and tied it in a double knot. Then looped/knotted the strips on alternating colors (google how there are tons of sites with pics on how to). I put elastic on the back of a kids chair to hold in place while I put them on. Don't tighten them all the way until you are done otherwise they won't slide on the elastic easily to move them to spread them out evenly. I took it off the chair and then tightened the knots. Thats it.. easy.

She's so cute in it! I love it! I had to make a tutu as well today...for a paper turkey that Hannah's K teacher is having them dress incognito. Of course, Hannah wants her turkey dressed as a ballerina!

Yeah they are easy to make! Rose looks cute in it. I made these tutus for the girls last Halloween... I didn't know about the rolls of tulle so I bought sheer fabric and cut long skinny rectangles. That added a bit of time to the project, but it's still super easy!
