    Default clomid?

Is there someone that could help me out with what to expect with Clomid?
My doctor just recommended it because we have been trying to get pregnant for 17 months and my periods have been irregular for the last 12 months.
I just wanted to know what I should expect while being on this medicine
    thanks

I was a little moody when I was on it. But that could have been all the stress of wanting to conceive too!

First, I would get a progesterone shot to induce a period. During days 3-7 of the period, I took the clomid. The week after that, they brought me in for an u/s to see how the follicles were forming. The next week I had another u/s to see if we were close to ovulation. If I was, they gave me an hcg shot to induce the ovulation better. I was told to "have relations" that night and the next. Two weeks after that I had bloodwork drawn, and BAM!

    Good luck to you!!

    Ditto.
I took a progestrone pill for a number of days, then the clomid...
Then I used ovulation tests on days 9-19 (or so) watching for a + then...Have fun!!!!

I think I may have been alittle moody too.. But again going through all these efforts would make anyone moody. You'd have to ask my dh..
I hace heard that some women kinda get a little "loopy".
    But I did'nt.. (I dont think!)
    good luck

For me, Clomid was no big deal - your Dr's will tell you exactly when to take it and when to 'do it' - should have blood draws and possibly ultrasounds to know that the clomid is causing you to ovulate like it should... They should do this - some OB's may not.

Physically - I had hot flashes, and if you've never had one, boy are they weird. But they only occured while on the meds. Ovulation was sometimes crampy. Then AF was normal and right on time.

Oh hey, I just came across my copy (although you may be beyond this now at 17mo's) do you want my copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Tony Weschler??? Let me know.

Clomid was no big deal for me. I was on a very low dose days 3-7. No other progesterone or anything. Like previous post I did experience hot flashes and just a couple shaky dizzy spells. My periods were very regular, but no luck getting preggo for 18 months. Days 10, 11, 12 I went in for a post coital to see about sperm and vaginal fluids mixing. Clomid did the trick with twin girls on due in February!!

    Good luck to you!

I was actually worse off on the clomid than when I started all the drugs for invitro. I was horribly moody and had a tough time controlling my moods. Did much better on all the other stuff, which seems backwards. I do know that Clomid is ususally where most docs will start.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Everyone is different but I had:

    Hot flashes
    Emotional swings
    Weight gain
    Vision problem (ghosting of images)

Apparently, vision problems are only in a small percantage, though.

I was on 50mg for 2 months (didn't induce ovulation for me), then 100mg for 3 months. I was really moody, had hot flashes, and weird visions things too (I would see stars and nearly black out).

I would do it all over again, though, to have my 2 little miracles!! Good luck!

i was on 50mg for 2 months, moved to 100mg, then went straight to 200mg. my doc. prescribed it to take on days 5-9, but said that some docs will do it on days 3-7, she said it all depends on where your doc when to school, etc, etc. i didn't take progesterone before hand....only thing i did was take the clomid, then when i believed that i ovulated, wait 7 days then come in for a blood draw for progesterone lvl. my progesterone lvl never got high enough to indicate that i had ovulated with the lower amounts of clomid, untill i took 200mg.

my only 2 symptoms on clomid was mood swings!!! and SEVERE hot flashes!! i hated going to work at the hospital and having pt's see sweat running down the sides of my face as i'm starting an IV (or any time really)...makes them nervous LOL as if it was my first time LOL. i actually had to fill hospital gloves up with ice and put them under my armpits LOL a tip from one of the older night nurses that i work with.

    Default Twins!!

Im currently taking 50 of clomid. Twins do run in my family, my grandmother had twin identical girls, and one of them had her first set of twins (girl and boy) then she was prego with quads( all boys!!) but only two made it. All without fertility drugs!! my period is regular. so are my chances high for twins ??

I just wanted to warn you that my regular GYN put me on Clomid for a couple months and then when it didn't work sent me to a fertility specialist. He told me that clomid on it's own (which by the way, didn't give me any significant side effects, but everyone is different) doesn't do very much. It's helpful with IUI or with shots, etc., etc. but on it's own it just doesn't do too much. So, if it doesn't work out the first couple months, don't be shocked! I just freaked out when we didn't get pregnant immediately after starting it and I wouldn't want anyone else freaked out like that.

I was on a very high dose of clomid and it made me very moody. But I had no other side effects beside moodiness, it was just very extreme moodiness.

For me clomid added 15lbs over 3 cycles and no baby. I also had massive headaches, and I could literally feel my ovaries swelling and they hurt too. It was not a pleasant experience. Although the cheaper of the infertility treatments. We did shots when I got PG with the twins (only 1 round, luckyily given the $$$) I personally wouldn't do clomid again, but it is the preferd 1st round by most doctors.

I took Clomid for only one cycle. I felt absolutely great on it! I had tons of energy. My periods were irregular while we were trying to conceive. I did not take clomid again because on the lowest dose, while I did ovulate, the lining of my uterus was so thin that I would not have gotten pregnant even if conception had occured. If you are just going to your OB, they might not do the ultrasounds or any other testing to see if you need IUI (another side effect of clomid is that it can change your cervicle fluid, so you would be less likely to conceive without IUI). I have some friends that their OB gave them clomid and did all the same labs, but not the ultrasounds and cervicle fluid testing that the fertility specialist does. They all did get preganant though, so maybe the negative side effects that I experienced are fairly rare. I guess all this to say if you are not having all this testing done and you don't get pregnant right away, dont panic, it may just be that you need to do IUI. Good luck!

Oh My Gosh, I Had The Worst Time With Clomid! I Know Its Different For Everyone, But I Had Hot Flashes And Felt Like I Was "high" And Felt Like I Had Body Aches But Instead Of The Little Tingling Body Ache Feeling, It Was Like Big Areas Of My Whole Body. Lol, The Infertility Clinic Said "people Pay To Feel Like They Are High All The Time" Joking When I Told Them I Was Haveing A Reaction! They Changed Me The Following Month To Another Med And I Was Fine After That. I Too Was Also On The Hcg Shot And Had Ultrasounds To Monitor My "progress". I Have Heard Of Drs Wanting To Try Just The Clomid First Before They Start Running All Of The Tests. Good Luck!!!
