    Default Hair pulling....

So, Luka is a hair puller...and I am pretty sure he knows exactly what he is doing. He grabs my hair yanks and yanks (he's pulled out clumps by the root) and I give him a very stern STOP..he stops and looks at you, gives a crooked smile and dives right back in..so, yeah, he knows exactly what he is doing. I've tried STOP, tried prying it out of his hands, gave him a little smack on his hand, I hate to say this but I even gave his hair a little tug, thinking maybe the shock of it would get him to stop..He laughed and did it again like we were playing a game. He is so much more agressive than Harrison is and with him if you tell him STOP, he listens..for as much as a 1 year old can. Anyone know how I can stop this behavior? I like to roll around on the floor with them and wrestle and play, but having my head dive bombed is getting to me....

The only thing that worked for uss with our older boys was to stop what we were doing with them. If we were holding them then we sat them down with a no and walk away. If we were playing on the floor say no and get up and leave. If you are playing with Harrison also maybe go put Luka in his crib or high chair. Good luck they will out grow it.

So funny to see this post. Aaron does this as well but Colin not so much. I think Aaron thinks of it more as a safety thing. He seems to want to play with it more than anything but boy does it hurt.

My girls LOVE to pull my hair. They even do it to try and pull themselves up to a standing position. Ouch! I put it up in a ponytail when I can, but they still manage to grab it by the roots. They even try to eat my hair. Gross. I just say "No, Mommy doesn't like that". Maybe they'll understand one day. One can only hope.

I was just thinking about this too. There's a lot of actions the boys do and I try to tell them not to but I know if I keep saying no it will become ineffective.

It's funny that you said you even tried pulling their's. It made me laugh cause my boys have no hair!!!

Ava goes after Alyssa's hair and Alyssa loves to pull on my hair. They both love pulling the cat's tail and pulling the dog and cats hair. Luckily Callie and Snickers have learned to run away when the monkey's are let out of their cages.

We are hair pullers at our house... and even without much hair at all the girls pull each others. I think it is more of a safety or I am interested in what that all is type of thing. So I am pretty much into the ponytail thing.

I think Rachel and Amanda must have read this post! Up until recently they had been content to mainly just pull each others hair, which I try to stop as much as possible.

They also enjoy pulling my hair, but until a few days ago it was just a yank now and then...NOT any more! Yesterday Amanda grabbed a handful of hair at my temple and yanked it out! OUT! I really do have a small patch of very thin hair there now!

I am trying to make a screeching sound when they do it (ok so try isn't the right word, it is more of an auto response because it HURTS) this startles them and I am hoping that it will be enough to get them to knock it off!
My hair is not thick enough to lose extra handfuls! I told them they would be embarrassed if they had a mommy with bald patches!

until last week I was always a ponytail mom, but I got a haircut and now ponytails are a bit less helpful
