Thumbs up unicornuate uterus with twins

hi, i was 25 yrs old when i was diagnosed to have a unicornute uterus during my cesarean delivery of twins. i had a regular menstraul cycle, my only problem was my severe dysmenorrhea during my period. I didnt know that i have a unicornuate uterus during pregnancy. I was diagnosed to have twin gestation at 2 months of pregnancy through ultrasound. The ultrasound results showed that my other baby was too little with almost no amniotic fluid but my other baby was fine. Im glad that my baby turned ok after a few months. I delivered my twins at 35 wks of gestation. My babies weighed 5 lbs and only 3 lbs respectively. After the babies were out during cs, while my ob was checking my other ovary, she could not find my left overy and fallopian tube. I was really crying after i found out about it and thank the Lord for giving me my twins...now they are 7 months old...

While doing a search I came across a message that you posted regarding successful delivery of twins with unicornuate uterus. I have 2 children already and am currently 9 weeks pregnant with twins. My uu was discovered during my first c-section. Can you please tell me what you're doctor's protocol was for you throughout your pregnancy (cerclage, bedrest, etc.). Did you see a high risk specialist? I would appreciate any information that you have as well as resources, links, etc. Thank you so much for your help. Please e-mail me directly at mirawachstock@aol.com

I have a bi-cornated uterus. I am not familiar with your situation as I am not too familiar with mine either. After about 10 years, I found someone here that has the same thing. She knew more about it than I.

I checked the Op's profile and their last activity has not been since June 2003 so don't be discouraged if you do not get and answer. I hope you find what you are looking for.

By the way, it caused no problems in my pregnancy at all but your case is different.

I was told by my first OB w/ my son, that I have a bicornuate uterus, but it's a very small septum. I had no problems w/ my twin pg.

I also have a unicornuate uterus. I found this out when I had a c-section with my son at the age of 25. I have since had twin girls who are now 3.
I never had any problems by having a UU. I did have a high risk pregnancy with the girls because they were monoamnionic monochrionic.
I do have 1 question for those that also have a UU. Do you also only have 1 kidney? When I was diagnosed I was told that it is quite common to have a UU and only 1 kidney. Please let me know....
You can email direct if you want... becrick@bigpond.com

    Default unicornuate uterus and twins?

I, myself, have a unicornuate uterus. We have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years. I am currently undergoing an IVF cycle. I am scheduled for embryo transfer in mid- January. My doctor is advising me to only implant 1 embryo, However, my husband and I are leaning toward 2. Any advice you can give me would be helpful.

I now have a unicorneate uterus, but I had a bicorneate uterus. I was pregnant with a singleton in 2004 and did not know that I had a bicorneate uterus. I was told it cannot be detected during regular gyn exams. I never had the need for an ultrasound before getting pregnant. Unfortunatley, the doctor had to surgically terminate the pregnancy at 14 weeks because it was a threat to my own life, and the fetus was in the horn part of the uterus where it could not develop. She cut the part of my uterus that would cause problems for future pregnancies, so that is why I now have a unicorneate uterus. I had to wait 6 months before trying again. We were devastated and it was really hard to think about getting pregnant again. I am happy to say that we got pregnant with our twins shortly thereafter. However, it raised an immediate red flag with the doctors because of my previous pregnancy, and I was carrying twins in "half a uterus." Luckily, I had a good pregnancy, but they watched me like a hawk. I did see the high risk group often. I had to stop working around 29 weeks and was put on house rest. The doctors were thrilled that I delivered at 32 weeks.

I also want to answer the person's question about one kidney. I have two kidneys, but I did have to get a renal test done to determine if my kidneys were normal. You are right that there is an increased chance that women with mishapened uteri are more likely to have either one kidney or horseshoe kidneys.
