Any Baby Whisperers here?
Just curious to know if there are any Baby Whisperers here beside me. I started my boys when they were 3 months old and have be gratetful ever since. They are 21 months old now and have a really good routine with good sleep habits. It was hard in the beginning but now that they are toddlers I can't imagine having to fight them to get them to bed as well as deal with all the other issues toddlers throw at you.

Hey Double Mom,
I am so glad to see you on here. It's been a while. You know I read the Babywise books and got a lot from them (the most current one for us is Childwise). However, from what you said about the Baby Whisperer book, I had to read through it. I have to say, I got a lot out of that book as well. In fact, I really enjoyed it and wished I had heard about it (and read it) when the kids were babies. When I read the book, Karsten & Annika were just about 3 yrs. old. I know there is a Baby Whisperer book for Toddlers/Young Children, I haven't read it though. Have you? Renee |
I have both books
And honestly, the baby one is better. There is some good advice in both, but the style that I found slightly humorous and comforting in my sleep deprived days in those first few months got pretty annoying and condescending in the toddler one (stop calling me luv!) -- just my opinion. But like any book, take what is helpful and ignore the rest! I'd just recommend getting the Toddler one out of the Library before plunking down bucks...

I've read both too...
and I am so tired of hearing that 'luv' business too! quite annoying...
But, I like both books. I read the first one too late for it to really help us, wish I had had it when they were newborns so I'm appreciating the toddler one more as my two are now 16 months. Her method of pickup / put down practically solved my daughter's sleeping problems a few months ago. When she does wake at night now (which isn't often) it usually takes me less than one minute to settle her and she goes back to sleep on her own... heaven compared to how she used to be! |
Do my own thing
I did read both books and still refer to them. I definately do my own thing but I like the common sense stuff. Right now I am finding the discipline a real helpful tool since they are really pushing my buttons.
The library idea is great because then you know whether or not you want to shell out the money. Good to cyber see you too Renee. I'm hoping to be around a little more. L |
