Stomach Flu 24 weeks
 

HI! I seem to have caught a stomach bug - can't keep much down and unable to eat anything anyway. I'm concerned about my babies not getting anything to eat. Has anyone experienced the flu yet and any advice????

Yes, I had the stomach flu. I work in an assisted living program and all the clients were sick. I was bound to get it sooner or later. I was out of work for two days. Vomiting and diarreha. It wasn't pretty. I was 22 weeks. I called my midwife and their only real concern was dehidration. They told me once my stomach settled to take a tablespoon of water at a time. Then, increase it as I go along. I was fine and the babies were fine. I only ate two pieces of dry toast the first day and the second day I ate a little more. The stomach flu is going around. I guess there is not much you can do to avoid contact with people. Some people like myself are more suseptable, due to my work environment. I hope you are feeling better.

I had the stomach flu at 28wks pg. I had it for 12 hours before I called the doc because I couldn't keep anything down. He told me to got to the ER and up to L&D fot IV hydration. When they got me hooked up to the monitor I was having some contractions and a lot of uterine irritability. The contractions subsided with about 2 liters of fluid pumped into me. You can get dehydrated very quickly while being pg - and even more so with twins. You may want to call your doc right away because dehydration can lead to preterm labor. The babies have plenty of nourishment now. Your body will allways take care of them first. But you don't want to go into preterm labor.

I had a nasty stomach flu when I was 12 weeks pg, I couldn't even keep water down for over 12 hours. Doc had me go to ER, I was dehyrdated so I got IV, anti-naseau meds and they stabilized my vitals. The babies were fine.

Call your doc, you need to be checked for dehydration, which is the only danger to your babies. Hope you feel better soon.
