Sofia Peed on the Potty Tonight!

She came home from daycare and asked to sit on the potty (note: we got rid of the potty chairs and they now use the big toilet with a Baby Bjorn potty seat on it). She did for a while, but did nothing (usual story) and then asked to wear underwear. So I put some on her.

About 10 minutes later, she had an accident. Poor thing. We changed her underwear.

Then about 1 hour later, she asked to sit on the toilet again. She did for a bit, then got down and sat on the floor by me in the bathroom. Then, got up, pulled down her underwear and sat on the toilet and started peeing! She looked shocked but so proud of herself! I said: "Sofie, you're going pee pee!" and she said "I am, Mumma, I am!!" :proud:

I put her in dipes for overnight, but I am so proud of my little girl!

DS on the other hand pee'd in the middle of Target today - wet clean up on isle 3. Poor little guy, crossed his legs, held himself and out it came. He looked so relief though when he was done! He has such a hard time remembering to tell me he has to go. I felt bad I had forgotten it had been awhile. We had to buy new pants and underwear because I had forgotten backups!

Susan - that is so great. It's the best feeling in the world when you know you are almost out of diapers. Both the girls have started using the potty, but I won't be ready to take them out of the house and chance it for a few months... Then I will truly be done!

Yay! Sounds like she might really be ready. As soon as the girls asked to wear panties, that was all it took. Well, there were also a couple weeks of accidents ;)

You can give her a choice between diapers or underwear.

When the girls were getting more interested in potty time, we talked about it every time I went to the bathroom. When they had a BM in their diaper, I took that over to the toilet and said "Big poopies go in the potty." I started offering the potty before bed and baths. One of the girls took to it pretty well, the other one didn't and I didn't push it. Then one of them said they wanted to wear the "pretty underwear." I asked her if she understood that she needs to try to put her yellow water in the potty. She said yes. So she wore the pretty underwear. The other one didn't want to be left out and she wanted to try also....I knew she wasn't ready, but I let her try. I got the potties out and started pushing fluids. Once they were fully hydrated, they needed to go every 10-15 minutes. Gave them lots of practice to know what it feels like to have to go and coordinating the release in a short period of time. Having that success so close together I think it gave them confidence. If they started having accident, I said, "Your yellow waters are coming. Sit on the potty." If none of it got there, I cleaned them up and they helped me clean up the mess.

The one that was ready, was day trained in 2 days, BM's and urine. She was night trained the next week. The other one wasn't ready when her sister was, and I backed off completely. She needed incentive/reward. I didn't give candy. She wanted to hold a snowman snowglobe in the worst way. I told her when she put her yellow waters in the potty she could hold the snowman. She looked longingly at the snowman every day and reminded me of my promise. When she started getting bored with the snowman, I had found some really neat stickers on clearance at Target. She was really wanting those, she got one each time she went. She told me she was ready 2 weeks before her 3rd birthday. I did the same thing with the fluids. She was done in 2 days, but she still needed the security of the diaper for another 2 weeks if we went anywhere and at night. I always gave her a choice on what she wanted to do. After a couple of weeks of stickers, I started spreading them out and then she didn't need it any more. I think I got lucky with them, but that is the "technique" I used.

If she consistenly goes to the potty for pee, without your prompting, I would put her in underwear all weekend. Has she gone to the potty at her day care. or just at home? If it is not consistent, I would put her in diapers for going out of the house, unless she is wearing underwear at home and expesses an interest in continuing to do so. Good luck!

She's been wearing underwear so far all day. She's gone pee on the toilet when I ask her too, and it almost seems like she produces on demand for a sticker.

She's had two accidents today, however. Poop and pee.

They are napping now and she refused to wear a diaper. :xfingers.
