Do you have a sitter or anyone that could watch your little one? What about someone taking the girls and you could stay home w/Nicky, I know you said you didn't want them being there w/out you but maybe you could rethink that? If you don't know of a sitter maybe you could start looking for one b/c like you said, this will probably come up again and again. We just moved 4 hours away from family and friends in August and I found great sitters through the local collage (I contacted their elem/early childhood education dept.). I hope you figure this out and I'm curious to see what the other moms can come up w/!

I didn't have this problem as DD was 6 and had already been to a party by herself by the time that the boys came, but if you know the people well enough you could try to leave the girls there and make sure that they have a number they can reach you at of something were to come up, or you could just ask if they mind Nicky coming along so you can stay. You can always excuse yourself if you see that things are going well, or if Nicky isn't doing well at the party.

I remember the first time that I left DD at a party, I think that she was 4 or 5 and it wasn't the easiest thing to do, but I had known the mom for about 2 years through the preschool and my gut told me that it would be fine, and it was...I was still a nervous wreck for the whole three hours, but she loved it and had a great time, and didn't miss me a bit!
