even though my kiddos aren't quite 3 yet (april) :order:
I'm tired of all the BS in the buzz, and I might just start coming right to this section instead of hitting "new posts".
I have a ton of questions lately that are developemental and behavioural, and I'll be needing a ton of potty training advice :snicker:
I'm looking forward to this being my new home :cloud9:

Issues??? I got tons!!! Don't get me started...LOL!!
My older twins turned 3 back in October...I was stunned that it came upon us so quickly. For some reason, I'm finding the 3 yr old stage more challenging than the 2 yr old stage. Cole and Bella are so much fun but they are also very hard strong and think they know EVERYTHING!
Jennie, we just did potty training with Cole and Bella...it actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. There's a lot to be said about waiting until they're ready...it seemed like one day all of a sudden, Cole wanted to use the potty and then Bella was next. And it just flowed from there. I had some tricks up my sleeve that helped along the way so let me know when the time comes for you and I can share them, if you like!

Jen, I'm all ears on the potty training too! I've almost emptied out a whole bag of M&Ms (we are using the reward) system and they still have accidents all the time. :faint:

Jennie...I totally agree with you on everything going on in the buzz...I have actually been staying away from there too. When I do go there, I have basically been posting congrats and birthday messages. I am SO tired of all the drama and you can really 'feel' how different things have been there lately.
I know I posted this in another thread, but I am really going to enjoy having someplace to go other than the buzz. I'll always post in my BMT because I LOVE those ladies! But I'm looking forward to chatting with people that have the same things going on that I do...more in common.
Let us know how your appointment goes!

For those of you going through potty training, one of the "tricks" I used was to have their favorite character person (ie my 16 yr old niece as Barbie and my 17 yr old nephew as Thomas..LOL) call them on the phone and encourage them to go potty. Bella loves Barbie so I'd set up a schedule with my niece (aka Barbie) for her to call Bella on the phone and ask if she's used the potty and encourage her. Then she'd tell Bella that she could call her back anytime she used the potty but only then. And Cole loves Thomas the train so my nephew (aka Thomas) would pretend he was Thomas and did the same thing my niece did. The kids never seemed to piece it together that it wasn't really Barbie or Thomas..they totally believed it.
I thought it was totally corny at first but it WORKED!! Better than m&m's, better than licorice, better than stickers!! Those temporary tatoos also worked as rewards, in between the phone calls. I'd just get a bunch from the $1 bins at Target and they'd get a tatoo each time they used the potty.
The other thing we did was just one day I said "no more diapers" (pull-ups only for nap and night-time) and we went to Target and they each picked out tons of underwear and we went from there. And even better than that? If you can stand it, let them run around naked after dinner, before bath (seems that's when most toddlers have to go potty)...that worked even better than underwear b/c there was no "safety net"...they'd start to pee or poop and scream "uh-oh" and run off to the potty.
Hope that helps!!

The latest accomplishments here are our latest 'record breakers'
Andy fit 5 peas up one nostril and 3 kids fell out of bed within 5 minutes of each other. :woo: 2 new house records in one day!
And Office depot delivered 20 CASES of copy paper this evening. It was delivered while I was giving baths so I didn't even get a chance to tell them they screwed up. I had to spend almost an hour on the phone trying to get someone to come back and get them TONIGHT. I don't want them in my living room.... those poor lily white boxes will be covered in crayon by 8 am. :hmm: They're sending someone out on Wednesday to get them. :tantrum: I don't want them here that long!

Heather, why all the paper?? :woa:
 I had ordered some laptops and TWO cases of paper from them online and then cancelled the entire order when they called me on the phone an hour later and said that it was on hold and couldn't be processed unless I gave them all my bank info over the phone. I don't give that stuff over the phone so I told them just cancel the whole thing then and I'll buy from someone else.
2 days later 20 cases of paper show up
Paperwork error I guess  They are coming to get it tomorrow.

How did you get it out? We've done it a few times  with different kids. Usually just running my finger down the outside of the nose will push it out but sometimes they have to 'sneeze' it out. Once Jonny put corn up his nose and it took 4 DAYS to get that thing sneezed out! :faint: I was SOOO worried I took him to the ER :snicker: They said they'd give him a week to sneeze it out before 'doing anything drastic' when they failed to retrieve it with tweezers.
It's amazing how much can fit in there! Especially cheerios! They squish :snicker:

Ok Helene, I'm going to have to follow all of your potty training suggestions. It sounded like it worked so well.
I don't think my boys are quite ready yet. They go in and sit on it fully clothed. I ask them if they want to take their pants and diapers off and they say "NO". Therefore I"m trying not to push. I'm hoping they just one day say "I want to go potty". We'll see.
So Jennie - Looks like I'm in the same boat with you on the potty training issue. I'm trying not to let it stress me out too much.

My MIL bought them their potties last year and underwear with Elmo on them...when they were starting to use it, we went and picked out Wiggles and Thomas underwear...we still AREN'T GOING!!! Kyle likes to go, but nothing consistent, and he prefers to go everywhere but at home. Kevin has no interest at all whatsoever!
I learned with my DD...when they are ready to go, they will go!

Hey ladies,
I was once a member of the website but got out of the loop due to moving and school, blah, blah, blah. But anyway my boys turned 3 in December and I thought I could use some moral support for what we are experiencing. I thought 2 wasn't so bad but once we hit the 3 yr old mark it all went to heck in a hand basket.....
Just wanted to say "hi" and I will be popping in from time to time for some advice and ideas maybe even to vent :proud:

I don't do potty training topics though unless someone gets desperate :snicker: I start training mine as soon as they can walk so my methods won't work for someone starting at preschool age. And my nephew was 5 with disabilities so not average either.
