Hmm, right now it's light sabers, and pirates and more pirates and pirate ships and hats, and outfits.....

Did I mention pirates?

I have girls, but all the moms of boys in their preschool class claim Hotwheels are THE hot thing!

anything with wheels, anything that's transportation related, pirates, building sets (legos, lincoln logs, zacks, building blocks, ), rollerskates (or blades, they have ones that you can slide a couple wheels to the side for beginners), bikes (our boys are 3 1/2 and love their 'bigboy bikes' 2 wheel bikes with training wheels)

My son LOVES building sets. He is especially into the Lego Duplo sets. His b'day is next week and his grandparents are getting him the fire station set, I expect he will be over the moon --a combination of his two favorite things fire trucks and Legos! He also loves Tinker Toys and wooden blocks. Trucks of any kind are a favorite (especially garbage, fire, and tow trucks) but I don't think our house can hold any more vehicles! The kids got Zingo for Christmas which they loved and I highly recommend. They are also slated to get Hungry, Hungry Hippos for their b'day which they've played at a friend's house and loved. What about outdoor toys? My twins love their hop balls. YOu know, they look like a big yoga ball with a handle on it? Plastic golf clubs? Croquet?

Good luck!

Legos, the "big kid" sets. StarWars, nothing but StarWars, Homework books (that's what they call them-those Kumon type workbooks), cooking, coloring, playdough, sledding, wooden blocks and matchbox cars, balls, large-sized trucks to carry their stuff, play food and dishes, plastic animals to "herd" and make "areas" for them, making forts....

I'm glad you got some ideas for their birthday presents, Wendy.

These are some of Anthony's favorites: Play food cutting set, Leapfrog Word Whammer, buckets, containers, puzzles, playdoh, blocks, Legos...
