Our almost 2 1/2 year old twin girls are still sleeping in their cribs. I realize this is a little on the old side - but they've never tried to get out or anything. On Monday, they started daycare and REFUSED to take a nap on the cot. I was very worried about how they would do, as we had previously tried to move them from their cribs to toddler beds. When we had done that they would not lay down and literally played in their empty bedroom for over 2 hours. We had gone in and out, tucked them back in, gave kisses and hugs, drinks, tickled their backs, etc., We caved in and moved their cribs back in and they went right to sleep.
I had expressed my concern on this twice before their first day. I was reassured that they would get used to it and do it when they saw others doing it to. Well - when my husband picked them up, he was told that they refused to take a nap or play quietly while the others napped, keeping the other 5 children awake. They said they realized this was new for them but they had to keep order in the room for the rest of the kids and wanted to know if we had any suggestions.......
Well - we don't and I was wondering if anyone out there did. I'm waiting to hear from my husband (who picks the girls up) if they slept today or not.
Any input would be great.
Thanks

I use to be a preschool teacher for the two year old for five years and for the ones that did not want to sleep I sat with them on their nap pads and read books to them and eventually would rubb their back until they fell asleep.
now, for my twins who we recently moved to toddler beds we gate their door off so they can't come out of their room and hurt themselves on anything in the house. but we do the whole tuck in routine and leave them be. some nights they fall asleep fast and other nights not so fast. but we stay very consistant and they also helped take their cribs down. stay strong and consistant.

Your daycare already told you that it would take some transition time.
They need to give that to you.. It will probably take a few weeks.. Then everything will settle in..
It would also be a good time to try the toddler beds again.
No looking back, it will be rough for a little while.. but it'll be worth it..
