Hi everyone,
Has anyone already started or completed potty training yet? We have both a girl (Corrine) and a boy (Connor) and while she seems ready he does not. My husband and I both have three weeks off coming up soon and could devote our time to potty training if we thought that it was a good time for it to begin. Any thoughts from those of you that have been there done that.
Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.

I'd love to hear the answer also - we also have a boy and a girl. Sarah seems to show some signs that she's interested but, Danny could care less. Hopefully someone will have something to say to help us along...

I have introduced the potty with my boys, who are showing some interest (but not much). In my honest opinion, 1 1/2 is still on the young side for training, so I won't push it right now. My daughter was done by the time she was two, my older son not until just before he turned three. I have a nephew who is three and a half and still isn't done. It really is a matter of what works for you, and whether your kids are ready. Kids with prematurity issues may need a little more time (even if they are technically "caught up"). Honestly, if you think your children are ready to try, do it. Even if it works for one and the other needs more time, then no harm. Best of luck to all.

started potty training. I also have b/g twins. Emmy went tee tee on the potty the fist time we put her on it and all day the first day. She really hasn't since. I take her about every hour and no tee tee. I was on the phone tonight and she pulled me to the bathroom and then went tee tee. I think she wanted me to get off the phone and pay attention to her. So she knows that I want her to do it. I think she is trying to control me with this potty.
My son is not interested in going to potty except to use it to climb onto the counter.
I don't have any boys but I had always heard that boys are harder and take longer to train than girls. I'm sure there are the exceptions to that though.
As for Sarah, my oldest, I started with her at about 1.5 yrs. You know, first time mom - my child was going to be perfect. :D
She showed lots of interest and most of the time would go when I took her. Then she really had it down just before age two. Then... I had the twins. She stayed at Grandma's house a lot and then it all went out the window. :rotflmbo:
When I finally had enough energy to try again with her, I had to set the timer on the oven for 15 minute periods to start out. We gradually got to 45 minute periods, and so forth. But for us, the timer thing really helped as a reminder to go potty - or at least try. If nothing came out, we would set for another 10-15 minutes and then try again.
She was almost 3 when she was finally fully potty trained.
And for all you moms who are like me and dread having your kid sit on a public potty, you need to check into getting a collapsable potty seat cover. I got mine at Walmart - it folds into a small quarter-sized section in order to fit in your diaper bag.
