I know other twin mums who cloth diaper on other boards, but am I the only one here?

I love cloth diaper and all of my other children have spent all or most of their time in them. BUT ;) I didn't want to with twins. I knew I'd have my hands full and want help. Some of my best help (my dh and 9 yo) don't like cloth. They'll come back out later when my lack of sleep and exhaustion headaches go away...

more power to you... I do use homemade wipes tho and love them

I don't use burp rags. What the heck do you use burp rags for? Maybe my girls were never burpy or spitty enough to need them?

Oh god, Kristen, Ian has/had reflux so he would spit up ALOT. It's so weird because Sofia doesn't at all, so it's *so nice* to hold her and put her on the floor and not worry about her spitting up and then the dog eating it!

We use the burp rags to put over your shoulder.

Ian goes through at least 2 outfits/week at the daycare because he spits up all over himself. :( And he always has to wear a bib.

I do remember Donna (fitz) saying how I think Leo had really bad spit ups and then one day it just went away. I'm hoping Ian's day is coming soon...

We did. We used a diaper sevice. It was great.

I would use a service if it didn't mean trying to use prefolds, I am prefold imapired and can only manage pockets, all-in-ones and fitteds.

Susan, yes Donna did say that the spitting just stopped suddenly. I hope it does for Ian soon. The girls did spit and stuff when they were in the first few months but I never bothered with a rag or anything, I just got spit on instead.

My Hayley had BAD reflux, too. Finally (at about 3 months) we put her on Zantac and Enfamil A.R.. Using both made a big difference. We took her off Zantac at about 10 months (when she started sitting up more) and continued with Enfamil A.R.. She started spitting up again, we put her back on the meds. Now at 20 months she is not on any medication and drinks whole milk. She still has episodes of reflux now and then (rarely). I only know because she makes a funny face and her breath smells like throw up.

We got A LOT of use out of our 'burp cloths'. I still keep them in our playroom for quick clean-ups and runny noses.

We have always used disposable diapers. I wasn't brave enough to try cloth diapers with twins! Good for your ladies who do... :) .

I used them for my older three but not for these two! Way too many diapers for me to deal with having to clean them and wash. I used cloth when my kids were around 2ish ...prepping them for toilet training!

oh it would be so nice if the spitting just stopped one day!!! it's brutal around here too. we go thru at least 2 outfits each and about 20 bibs a piece!!! i can't wait for them to "grow" out of it!!!! :(

Hey Kristin. I am just starting using a cloth diaper at night for Devin inside his disposible diaper for extra protection due to leaking at nights. We also used cloth diapers as "burp cloths" which work great.

We used a diaper service for the first six months with our girls. It was great. And cheaper than the disposables. At six months we were getting out of the house so much that it became much easier to use Huggies. And by that time it was a wash as far as cost goes. I have read that cloth diapers help kids get potty trained quicker as they don't like feeling wet. So, who knows, we may go back to them in a few months.

As far as spitting up goes, our girls did that until they learned to burp on their own. Before that, we'd feed them and lift them over our shoulders for a burp and they'd just urp up gross stuff. I always knew which Baby Bjorn was mine as it had the long stain of burpage on it! My husband ALWAYS had a cloth diaper over his shoulder, so he didn't get that stuff on him.

Ladies, they'll stop spitting up one day. And you'll be amazed at how the loads of wash lessen!

I've only used cloth diapers for their bottoms when I didn't have diapers. But pins are hard to find around this house. I might use cloth diapers if they were made with velcro tabs and came in different sizes and were padded in different places for boys and for girls.

From day one, I used cloth diapers as burp cloths and as sleep cloths. I still use them in the cribs. The twins are very fomd of them to sleep with. DD especially loves them and carries them around.

They do??

Where do you get your diapers Kristen? Is it in Canada or do they have a website too?

The diaper service we used gave us diaper wraps. The diapers were just regular cloth ones and they teach you various ways of folding them. Tehn you put them into a wrap, which is really just an outer covering. The wrap looks like a diaper. You tuck the diaper into it and the wrap has velcro tabs on it. No pins. The wraps are moisture proof.

Every two or three months we got bigger diapers from the service. The ones we started with were tiny! Diaper services have come a long way since I was a baby. Most don't even use bleach anymore as it can be harmful on a baby's bottom.

We had to wash our own wraps and the service took care of the diapers. We didn't even have to rinse our diapers. Or dump out the poo. Just put them straight from the changing table into the bucket that the service provided. They also gave us these scent disks that went into the bottom of the bucket and totally wiped out the stinky smell. (I have a super sniffer, I smell EVERYTHING, and it really worked.)

I recommend cloth diapers for newborns. We got to the point that using the plastic ones was a lot easier. But for those first six months having the service was fantastic.

I planned on using cloth until I found out it was twins. I looked into diaper services but no one would deliver to me as I live in the country. I have a whole bunch of kooshies brand with the velcro that I plan to use during potty training. apparantly it helps cuz then they can feel the wetness as opposed to disposibles where they can't.

I am distraught over the environmental impact of the disposibles cuz I never had any garbage before (I'm a recycling fanatic) and the cost factor is huge. I definately applaud you Kristen.

I used cloth with my oldest son and really wanted to with the twins, but there is not a diaper service in the Tampa area......very disappointing. I grew up changing cloth diapers on my siblings and abhorred the rinsing and washing part and since that was the only way I could use cloth here, I went with disposables.

I have bought a few used ones to try out. However, it has to wait until I am over being sick. I tried them once and tehila leaked...we'll keep trying. I really want to use them.

keep trying mamma, I had more leaks in my first 2.5 months in sposies then I ahve had since.

both babies tend to leak out of the sposies a lot. I want to do it, but somehow I 'm not sure that my willpower is strong enough - if that makes sense. The idea is nice, but maybe I don't have enough follow-through.

doesn't require much of you, you just need to buy cloth, quit buying sposies and away you go!

Kristen how many times do you need to change them during the nite?
And also silly question, but how do you clean the cloth you used for cleaning them?
I have some cloth dipers *with the pins* and the covers.. i use them if i run out of dipers...
i lift my hat off to you!!!
Do you wash them yourself?
thanks

I don't change them at night, I have four special diapers that I use at night, so they wear them for 12 hours, 7pm to 7am.
I use cloth wipes which get washed with the diapers.
I wash them myself.
I do not use pins, no way no how! only velcro and snaps.

If I didn't work FT I would have used cloth, but just wasn't going to work with daycare.
