Hi - I'm new to the message boards and new to twin pregnancy. I just had an ultrasound last week to confirm my pregnancy (after two miscarriages) and was delighted to find that I'm expecting twins. They had very strong heartbeats and were the same size, but I'm a little scared about things going wrong, since I'm only at 8 weeks. Anyone have any advice?

I am due May 10th as well. We have been trying for 4 years and had one miscarriage along the way so I know how you feel, worrying that something might go wrong. I spend far too much time analyzing my symptoms to gain reassurance that everything is proceeding perfectly. I wish I had a window on my belly or an at-home ultrasound machine so that I could check on our babies every day.

I look forward to every doctor's appointment, nervously waiting for confirmation that all is okay. So far everything has been perfect and I just pray that this continues.

Once suggestion I have is if you are overly anxious, try relaxation tapes. I was skeptical at first but willing to try most anything and I was surprised at how calm I felt after listening to a 20 or 30 minute tape.

Good luck!!

I just bought a fantastic book: When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads proven guidelines for a healthy multiple pregnancy by Dr Barbara Luke. It's the first book I've found that positively and thoroughly details multiple pregnancies. It helped to decrease a lot of my anxiety, and to give me some great nutrition tips.

Hi!

I was originally due with twins May 31, but they moved me to June 1st --- can still I join you all!!!

I am pg with my first... AND second! I was doing injectibles for PCOS-related infertility. I did one cycle of injections in June and got pregnant, but had a miscarriage at about 5 1/2 weeks. Took a month off, then started injections again in late August... and now we are pg with twins!! My husband is a twin, so he is quite excited.

We saw heartbeats, yolk sacs, fetal poles, etc. on the u/s last week (I was 7 wks on the dot). BUT my doc told me not to announce our twins yet because there is still a chance (like 20%?!) that one could "vanish" by 12 weeks. I go back in 3 weeks for my next u/s, so I hope & pray that they are both still there!!!!

I am very excited that you all have come on here! I had another u/s today and my twins (my first and second as well!) are little maniacs. They were all over the place! Heartbeats are 157 and 162, no visual on the sexes. I know, I am overanxious!

I have the twins, triplets etc book as well. I like it a lot. One of my friends (neither of us on fertility drugs) that just had twins gave it to me and said it was the best twin book she found!

If you ever want to chat, let me know!

Trish

Hi - it's great that you're joining us! That vanishing twin statistic is just the worst, isn't it? That really freaked me out too, but remember that most twin pregnancies are successful. Try and focus on the positive and connect with those fabulous babies inside of you! :)

Congrats Inshockmom on that ultrasound too!

I'll join in if you don't mind.

I am in my 2nd pregnancy after our 1st IVF cycle. I am due May 30, 2006, so that makes me 8 weeks along.

We were so excited to find out that we were having twins, but having lost a child before, I'm finding it very hard to rellax and enjoy this pregnancy at all. I will see a perinatologist and an OB, so I will be seen probably 2 times a month and that way only 2 weeks between appointments. Hopefully that will keep me sane for the next 7 months!!!

I'm glad to join you and since we're all in the same boat, we can share so much of this wonderful journey!!!

Regina

Hi Regina! Congrats on your successful IVF! I'm so sorry for your loss. I am also having a hard time "relaxing" and enjoying my pregnancy.

Thanks Wendy for your warm welcome. I am trying to stay positive!! But the wait for my next u/s is just making me more anxious to make sure everything is OK.

Trish, sounds like you had a great u/s and wow, what heartbeats!! Maybe boys??? :D I had my last u/s at 7weeks on the dot, and my heartbeats were 127bpm and 130bpm. They said that was fine for 7 weeks -- which was great since we only saw one heartbeat at my first u/s at 6weeks.

Anyway, how is everyone feeling? Morning sickness at all? I've been mostly just very tired. I thought that I would have killer m/s, but so far just a little nausea from time to time. Today was pretty bad, I felt so tired and nauseated that I came into work a little late. But I'm hanging in there!

inshockmom
10-20-2005, 10:57 AM
Grace- You are so lucky! I have very bad m/s. BAD BAD BAD. I was on Zofran at one point for puking and then I was really nauseated for a few weeks and just yesterday my DR started me on a anti-nausea pill because I have lost a lot of weight and she wants me to maintain now and start to gain.

I am SOOOO looking forward to the end of my first trimester. It is the only thing that is keeping me sane at the moment. There has to be an end to this morning sickness. Or I will never make it! This is my very first pregnancy as well, so maybe that has a little to do with it? I don't know. I am exhuasted as well, but haven't been sleeping well. Very frustrating. I sleep about 3-4 hours at a time. I hope that changes soon.

I am very excited about the twins. I can't wait until we find out the sexes.

Hi - I also have morning-noon-and night sickness. I never throw up, but I feel like I'm going to unless I'm shoving food into my mouth! I'm also having trouble sleeping. I'm not sure how much of that is anxiety and how much is pregnancy. Having to go to the bathroom 3x per night doesn't help much!

inshockmom
10-20-2005, 11:43 AM
Wendy, I usually get up twice for pee breaks. It is so crazy.

So far my meds have helped me feel better, but it adds to my exhaustion. Lucky me.

Amazing Grace
10-20-2005, 02:03 PM
I think I get up to pee about every 2 hrs. So probably 3-4 times/night. I am so glad I don't have m/s (YET!!! Doc said 8wks is not too late for it to come on, and I am 8 weeks on the dot today!)

I have also lost weight, though I think it's from healthier eating and no alcohol  My doc put me on Ensure 3x/day which is definitely packing on a couple lbs.

Is anyone else having to get a cerclage? My doc (RE) is recommending it, and she says she recommends it for all 1st time pregnancies with multiples. I haven't seen my OB yet (my RE will release me at 12wks) but I think he should be the one who makes that decision, don't you?!? Would appreciate any feedback on this.

I don't even know what a cerclage is...am I stupid?

I have been seeing my OBGYN since week 5. I started getting m/s at 6 weeks and it got VERY bad by week 8.
I have to go look up cerclage now....

:p

This is what I found online:

Surgery to Close the Cervix (Cervical Cerclage)

What is cervical cerclage?
Cervical cerclage is a surgical procedure used to keep the cervix closed during pregnancy. The cervix is the lowest part of the uterus and extends into the vagina. During normal pregnancy it remains closed until the third trimester.

When is it used?
Cervical cerclage is used to prevent a miscarriage or premature delivery if you have an incompetent cervix. An incompetent cervix is a cervix that opens without labor too early in a pregnancy. Stitching around the cervix helps keep it closed as the baby grows. The procedure may be used if you have a history of miscarriages during the middle third of pregnancy.

If you have a history of second-trimester miscarriages, a cerclage may be done at the beginning of your second trimester. Otherwise it may be done at the time Dr. Asch or Lynch finds that your cervix is opening too early.

An alternative treatment for an incompetent cervix is bedrest that may last for several months.

How do I prepare for the procedure?
Follow instructions provided by your doctor. If you are to receive a general anesthetic, eat a light meal such as soup or salad the night before the procedure. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight before the procedure. Do not even drink coffee, tea, or water.

What happens during the procedure?
You will be given a general, spinal, or epidural anesthetic. Your doctor will then stitch a band of strong thread around your cervix. He or she will tighten the thread to hold the cervix firmly closed.

What happens after the procedure?
You may stay in the hospital for several hours or overnight so that you can be monitored for premature contractions or labor.
Your doctor may give you medicine to reduce the chance that the procedure will start premature labor.
Ask your doctor when you can have sexual intercourse again.

How long is the cerclage thread left in?
The thread is generally removed at the 37th week of pregnancy. If you have contractions or your bag of water breaks while the thread is still in, call Dr. Asch or Lynch right away.

What are the benefits of this procedure?
Cervical cerclage prevents miscarriage or premature delivery caused by cervical incompetence. The procedure is successful in 85% to 90% of cases. A cerclage procedure will probably be done for each of your next pregnancies.

What are the risks?
There are some risks associated with general anesthesia. If you are to have general anesthesia, discuss these risks with your doctor. This procedure is commonly done with a spinal anesthetic.
The procedure may cause premature labor.
The cervix may become infected. An infection may cause fever, chills, cramping, or a bad-smelling vaginal discharge.
If you go into labor with the stitching in your cervix, your contractions may tear open your cervix. It is important that the stitching be removed before or during early labor. It is usually taken out without anesthesia.

All of these complications rarely occur.

When should I call the doctor?
Call your doctor if you have:

contractions
lower abdominal or back pain that comes and goes like labor pains
vaginal bleeding that seems to be more than your doctor has told you to expect
a fever over 100.5 degrees F (38 degrees C)
chills
a bad-smelling vaginal discharge.
rupture of the membranes (your bag of water breaks).

I have nothad one mentioned, but I guess that just means that my cervix is fine...is this your regular (primary Care) DR suggesting this? What is his/her reason behind it?

Let me know!!

Trish

No, I am still seeing my RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist = Ferility Specialist). She doesn't release me to my Ob until I am 12 weeks. She is also an OB but doesn't deliver babies anymore.

Anyway, I would assume she knows what she is talking about. But I don't have any cervical problems (that I am aware of) she just stated that it was routine. ??

Just curious if anyone else doc had recommended this. They say you get it usually around 12-14wks.

My morning sickness started at 8 weeks after about 2 weeks of almost constant nausea. It has been all day long but worse in the evenings.

I, too, have had a hard time sleeping. I wake up quite a bit in the middle of the night and usually have to eat at one point because my stomach starts growling. I usually go for easy to eat foods in the middle of the night - yogurt is my favorite choice. I also have had to start taking my prenatal vitamin in the middle of the night, otherwise I may throw it up or it may make me sick.

Thanks, Trish for the information on Cerclage. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it because I think I would prefer to have this done and eliminate one potential problem. The only thing I didn't realize was that it was a hospital procedure requiring anesthesia - I guess I just thought they could do it in the office with a something to numb the cervix. So much to learn about... :o

welcome Mindy!

Regarding the cerclage, my doc said that you can do a spinal or local anethesia. You don't have to be put under. It is also out-patient from what my doc told me. Just have to be on bed-rest for the next couple of days following.

Yogurt is actually one of my gag-reflex foods. Not sure why. I used to drink banana/pnut butter/yogurt smoothies every day for breakfast. I can't even think about it without feeling nauseated. YUCK

TGIF!!!!! :)

I had no idea what cerclage was and figured other people might not, so when I found that on the web, I thought I would share the knowledge! Glad to be of assistance.

I am kind of a control freak and I do MUCH better when I understand things. And as we all know now, there is NOTHING about our pregnant bodies that we control anymore! ;)

Grace- yummy sounding smoothies you used to make! I feel like everything gets my gag reflex going. I can't wait until the day that I am HUNGRY and can actually eat something without feeling sick. :o

I am going to St. Louis to stay with my Mama and have her pamper me. :-)

I don't have any weekend plans. I do wish my mom were close enough for me to go crash at her house and let her pamper me - you are lucky, Trish!

There are a lot of endy's sounding on here! :-)

The only thing that I have found that I can deal well with so far is a grilled cheese sandwhich. It doesn't always sound appealing, but it usually stays down. That is what I am going for right now!

I know I am lucky about my mom, but my DH lives 9 hours away from me right now, so that sucks. We'll live together in DEC. I can NOT wait! ;)

And I was disappointed that my husband's gone for 6 days this weekend (and only 5 hours away). I don't know what I'd do if we were 9 hours apart every day!!!!

My new favorite food is acutally peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I couldn't tell you when the last time I had one before getting pregnant and now I have one almost everyday. I like that it has a lot of protein and I eat it on wheat bread which is another food group I need.

I have been bad about nutrition, I've been lucky to keep anything down, so I just eat what I think I might be able to handle. I am going to have to double time the nutrition in my second trimester. :-)

My DR isn't real concerned about what I eat YET, right now she just wants me to gain some weight. LUCKY me. :-) This is the only time in life that you HAVE to gain weight and I am losing it, something I can't do any other time! :-)

Pregnancy is a wonderful thing, yes? :D

Yeah, I am pretty picky with food right now... pretty much anything with CHEESE or salty stuff is good. I keep getting major Mexican food cravings. PB&J has also been a staple meal or half of one for small snack works for me. I did learn a few weeks ago that taking a Zantac before dinner each night has helped my sleeping/stomach issues tremendously.

I am still having major constipation issues (sorry TMI :o ) I am taking Surfak every day (per my doc's orders) but it doesn't seem to be helping. I am drinking tons of water and eating lots of salads, whole wheat bread, etc. I have lost a couple lbs (not sure why - better eating? no alcohol?), so my doc put me on Ensure 3x / day. Easy way to put on some lbs!!!

Mendy, I noticed you are in Cumming -- I was born and raised in Atlanta & went to Ga Tech -- I miss it! All my family is still there (Sandy Springs). I even dated a guy from Cumming (in high school) :D Of course that was back when Cumming was in the boonies, and now it is a suburb of Atlanta! Crazy!!!!!

Grace, I have the big old Constipation fairy visiting me too! I have taken Philips Milk of Magesia and it helps a bit. Still no where near regular! :-)

My mom group up in Georgia...but that is my only connection. :p

How about nausea being the source of weight loss...I am positive that is why I have lost weight because I feel so sick I have to convince myself to eat anything! :(

Hey ladies - I really recommend prunes for the consipation. I eat a few per day and it has made a big difference. They're not my favorite food, but it's a nice natural way to keep things moving. Constipation is a real killer for nervous moms-to-be like me, since it causes pains and pangs in my abdomen - I keep thinkig there's something wrong with the babies! Staying regular is really good for my sanity.

Thanks for the PB&J tip - I just had one and it really hit the spot!

Hello I am 12 weeks today my twins are at 11 weeks 5 days and 10 weeks 5 days. I do not know how and neither does my ob but they are. I went through fertility shots and iui. I started in May of 2004 lost one at 5 1/2 weeks in september then lost twins on christmas day 04 they where 8 weeks. (never did see heart beats with them). I am now due May 7th and 14th from ultrasound I have had 2 done. My fertilty doc siad I would lose baby A since A was 3 mm smaller then baby B at 7weeks 5 days they both had heart beats of 160. I have been so worried since they said vanishing twin syndrom but today the ob says not to worry about that if it was going to happen it would have. Monday at 2am I awoke to a gush of blood from there and thought ono it is happening again I went in for my ultrasound and they told me both babies are fine good heartbeats and baby A was doing summersaults. :) Today I went to the ob and my mom and the ob heard the heart beat for a split second then the babies moved ob says next vist we will catch them for sure. :) My friend had a cerclage put in when she was 16 weeks but it was because she had an incompentent cervice. I would check with my ob before having anything done no one has ever told me I need a cerclage put in so please for you babies sake check with your ob first there are risks with the cerclage and with twins we all need to take as few risks as possible.

I am expecting twins May 20th. I am scared out of my mind. I have two little boys 2 years and the other 7 months. After what we thought was a miscarriage, the Dr. had blood work and a u/s done and shock! you have twins!!! I am 9 weeks and have all the icky stuff that comes with pregnancy (and all the happy things too). Everything to eat sounds disgusting, though I am finally over morning sickness. Hi everyone, I am due with my twins May 27th. I have a 1 year old son and I am just worried how I will get along the first 6 months after the twins are born!! I had my first ultrasound Oct. 10th and that's when I had the shock of my life. I should have known this pregnancy would be different since I have been so exhausted and nauseated all day. I hardly had any symptoms with my first. Has anyone else noticed their tummies hardening already? I had my first ultrasound with a RNP but now I have to see a Dr. each visit. My next one is Nov. 14th. Now that I have been doing some reasearch about twins on the internet I have lots of questions! I was just hoping to talk to other people in the same situation for support.....

WendyH
10-25-2005, 06:19 AM
2twinangels - yes, my tummy has definitely been hardening, and I have had some pretty strong round ligament spasms - and I'm only 9 weeks! I'm also in maternity pants already.

This sounds strange, but you're better off staying away from most twin internet sites besides this one. Most are FULL of horror stories that only add to the anxiety you're probably feeling. I recommend going to the bookstore or library and buying a good twins book. There are some very good books out there that help you focus on all of the positive aspects of twin pregnancy.

Hi gals!

2twinangels - my stomach is getting definitely more ROUND but not sure about hardening. My hubby says he notices. I can't wear mat pants yet (too big) but my regular pants are pushing their limit!!!

2jellybeans - not sure about the itchy belly.. I know it's normal but not sure if just regular lotion will work or if there is something better?

I checked out that Jane Seymour book on twins at the library yesterday and started reading last night. It's really good so far... very interesting!! I would recommend it. It's more of a friends' guide than a medical guide, but so far her experiences have been similar to mine (except the throwing up all the time.. thankfully I've been spared that so far and just have nausea most of the day).

Hope everyone is having a great week so far! I have 2 weeks to go until my next u/s, and I cannot WAIT! I am still so worried about stupid vanishing twin syndrome... I should stay off the internet!!! I agree with whoever said that, the 'net has some scary stuff on it!

I too have noticed that my tummy has started to harden-firm. It's kind of funny since I didn't loose all the baby fat from my last little one-he's 7 months (this was not a planned pregnancy-but very welcome). I kind of get a kick out of it since I can use the excuse that it's padding for the two. I can't fit into maternity pants yet, but all true that my normal pants are pushing it.
You all sound so wonderful. This is the only site I have gone to and am so thankful for it.
As for the itchy belly, I have tried Aveeno lotion and that seems to help some.
Hope everyone has a great day. :D

What are round ligament spasms? I'm just wondering if that's what I am having and not cramps.

Amazing Grace
10-25-2005, 01:42 PM
Well, if it's the same as round ligament pains, I've had those off and on. When you get up quickly from lying down or sitting... it hurts high along your bikini line. I've had it since 6 weeks. It should go away within about 10-15 seconds of it occurring. If is lasts longer than that or is more intermittent and independent of you sitting/standing, then it's probably cramps.

I have the round ligament pain and OMG! The first time I had it, I thought something was seriously wrong with me!

I have been in mat pants for 4 weeks already. Of course, I have always carried my weight in my mid-section, but I couldn't wear my reg pants after 8 weeks. Bummer. My mat pants are still a little big, but they are so much more comfy!

I am so tired! Has anyone gotten their energy back yet? I am so waiting for that day.

My next OB visit and u/s are on NOV 9th. I am ready to go back already.

I have been on Phenegran for over a week and it is really helping with the Nausea and puking, but just this morning I started feeling really icky again, I hope that I don't have the flu or something nasty like that.

How is everyone else doing?

Have a great evening! I look forward to hearing from you soon.

It's kind of neat that we all pretty much seem to have the same pains and symptoms. At least we don't have to feel like the only ones, right?I know it doesn't make me feel as anxious. I am going to the library and check out those books you guys have recommended. Oh, and 2jellybeans I know what you mean. My son just turned 1 in the beginning of this month and I don't think I had gotten rid of any of my baby weight. So my tummy is just harder and rounder. Oh well, it's all worth it. Who doesn't love stretch marks? haha. Everyone have a good night and get some rest!!

Good morning!

Yes, I've had those round ligament pains for a while. OUCH!! I always forget, especially at night going to pee (Which happens like 5x/night) or getting up from the couch. YEEEEOW it hurts!

I'm having weird left side "pressure"/pain today in my left ovary. It feels weird. So I called my doc just in case... they told me if I have pain or anything weird to let them know. So we'll see what they say.... Hope it's nothing. My ovaries were HUGE from my meds at my last u/s, and they said they should be shrinking, so maybe it's just from that... I hope.

Since you all are talking about showing or not, I've been taking belly pics so here ya go. As you can see my belly seems to be getting a little rounder (as is my BUTT, what's up with THAT?!)

10-26-2005, 12:21 PM
I found this online... it may be different for twins, but you are probably OK, especially since you are early in your pg and the babies are still small. But if you are concerned, talk to your doc. I cannot sleep on my stomach or back, I am a total side sleeper.

Q: I've always slept on my stomach, but now that I'm pregnant, I've heard that I'm not supposed to do this. I don't know if I can sleep any other way! What should I do?

A: In a normal pregnancy, it makes no difference which sleeping position you use. You can sleep on your stomach, back or side if it's comfortable for you. The baby is well protected by the sac of fluid in which it lies, and your sleeping position cannot harm it or affect your pregnancy at all.

Also there is a thread on this message board "Ask Dr. Rachel" and she will answer questions for you pretty quick... you might post on there and see what she thinks.

I have always been a side sleeper, but my older sis, a total stomach sleeper, she got a wedge like thing so it felt like she had that pressure of sleepig on her stomach, but was really on her side.

As far as tummies and butts-
My face is much rounder and my tummy- eek! :-)

I am having cramps and the sharp pians I also have a hard spot on my belly both my twins are on my right side no has told me this is a problem so I am not worried. Does anyone else have 2 different due dates my twins are a week apart from my u/s and I was wandering if this is so with anyone else? Since I went through fertility doc I know I had one day of iui and ovulated the next day that is why I am confused my ob has no idea why they are so far apart. When I had my first u/s at 7.5 weeks the nurse siad I would definatly lose the smaller baby I will be 13 weeks Friday and they are both doing fine. Guess that shows why shes a nurse and not a doctor the nerve of her to tell me that 10 min after I find out I am having twins.

Amazing Grace
10-27-2005, 12:39 PM
At my first u/s, we only saw one heartbeat and one fetal pole, but 2 sacs. The one with just a sac was almost half the size of the other. My nurse told me that it could be because one implanted later than the other, but losing one ("vanishing twin") was a possibility.

At my last u/s (at 7wks... I am 9 wks now) mine were measuring about 5 days apart, and we saw both heartbeats, fetal poles, etc. The nurse said the smaller one was catching up. They did tell me that there is still a chance of vanishing twin, that it is not uncommon in early pg's up to 12 weeks. I wasn't thrilled to hear that (esp. since I thought after seeing the heartbeat, odds of losing one or both went WAY down).

But since you made it to 13 weeks, sounds like you're in the clear for that! I am on pins and needles waiting for my next u/s (which is in about 12 days!!! )

Thank you it is a comfort to know I am not the only one with 2 so far apart my ob told me at my last visit Last Friday that the vanishing twin syndrom was all but over for us. He and my mom heard the ones heartbeat for a split second I had no idea what I was listening for so I missed it. He siad we will surely pick them up at my next visit Next Friday I go every 2 weeks my next u/s is not until 18-20 weeks. I hope I can hold out that long there are days when I really wish I had my own u/s at my house lol. :)

I concieved naturally (much to the shock of my dh and I...we apparently do NOT use birth control correctly!) ;)

So when I first went to my DR, she wouldn't give me a due date by last menstral period alone because my fundal height was measuring 13 weeks instead of the 8 I should have been...so I had my first ultrasound on 28 Sep and found out I was carrying twins, but they were 5 days apart (not as much as some) but my DR has me come in every three weeks for an u/s. Last one Baby A had caught up a little, she/he was within 3 days of B at that point, I am hoping that at my u/s on 11/9 that they measure the same. But they both have good healthy heartbeats.

I am sure that things will work out just fine!!

Maybe you ladies can answer my question. I am 10 weeks and have seen my dr. once for a u/s. Both twins were fine and I could see their heartbeats. They are only about 3 days apart, whatever that means I'm not sure. How often do I need to see my dr. and what is vanishing twin syndrome? I keep hearing it-reading about it and have no clue what it is. Does one twin really vanish and where does it go?
I am going to bombard my dr. with questions when I see him. I have to remember to write them all down. I see him Monday.

Also, do any of you know what kind of ingredient we are supposed to avoid while pregnant? I have heard it's in some soaps, make up, shampoo, etc. My prenantal teacher, with my first little boy, told me what it was and I can't remember.

Thanks everyone! Hope you all have a great day!

The vanishing twin syndrom is when you lose one baby and go on to carry the other I have heard it happens alot in early pregnancy being that you are at 10 weeks and they are doing so good I would not really worry much about it. When I had my u/s at 11.3 weeks my ob siad I should not worry about the vanishing anymore.
While we are answering questions I have one how often do you see your ob and how often are your u/s? I see my ob every 2 weeks and the only reason I have had 2 u/s one at 7.5 weeks and one at 11.3 weeks is at the 11.3 I woke up to that gush of blood and they where checking to see if they where ok. They are so far today I am 13 weeks and my ob does not have an u/s planned till 18-20 weeks.

I see my OB everything three weeks in conjuction with my u/s when we first discovered I was having twins, my DR saw that they were a week apart according to the u/s measurements. They are within three days of each other now. My OB said that I was also in the clear from Vanishing Twin, although she had told me from the beginning not to worry about it because I had my first u/s at 5 weeks and both babies had strong heartbeats even though they varied in sizes.

Well, I am off to a fundraiser! Talk to you all on monday!!

Have a great weekend!

Yes this whole vanishing twin thing is scary. I go for my next u/s in about a week (next Tuesday) and I will be almost 11wks -- I am hoping that both twins are doing well! My belly seems to be pooching out more, so maybe that is a good sign! :D It's hard to get excited about twins when there is that possibility hanging over my head. My doc said not to tell anyone we were having twins until the next u/s, even though we saw two strong heartbeats at 7wks... just in case...

BTW, when they say "vanish", they say usually it means it is absorbed into the mom's body. Normally you don't have a m/c or bleeding, but you can.

How is everyone feeling? Happy Halloween!

Well I got another u/s on Saturday I went to the er I was spotting red and vomiting I also had severe pian on my left side. The u/s showed both babies grew baby A 12.3 weeks and baby B 13.2 weeks I was 13.1weeks it showed heart beats of 160 and 150 but they are saying from the u/s that the sacs have shrunk just one more thing to stress me out right now. I called the American institute of ultrasound medicine and talked to an expert Monday since I was not getting anything from my ob he is not in on Mondays. The woman I talked to told me that with twins it is much harder to compute the measurments on twins and just there positioning can throw things off. I called and talked to my ob's nurse today and she siad he will more then likely do a follow up u/s before 20 weeks. I will let you all know what happens.

Dustymack! I hope that everything is ok! Please let us know what your DR says! Did your spotting stop? The vomiting? I don't know if this is a possibility (since I am not a DR) But I am wondering if it is possible for the sacs to appear as if they have shrunk if you are dehydrated (maybe due to vomiting?) Like I said, I don't know, but I will say lots of prayers for you and your babies!

Keep us posted!

Dustymack, oh dear. The last thing you need is stress. Please let us all know how you are and what your dr. says. I hope all will be well with you and those sweet little ones. You are in my prayers.

On a happy note. I saw my dr. on the 31st and had my second u/s. Those are some seriously wiggly little babies with strong heartbeats. Little lefty baby was having a party twisting and turning. Little righty was sleeping, but the dr. got he/she to wake up and then it too had a little party. The babies are about 4 days apart, but the dr. said that may be because little righty baby was curled up sleeping before he could get it to move.
The nurse said I should be at about 10.4 weeks, but the measurement of the babies said I was 11.5 weeks. My dr. said he would keep the due date the 25th and if they come early treat them like them came early, but they would most likely be okay.

I hope you all are having a great day.

Dustymack, wow thinking about you and your little ones! Hope that everything is OK and that you feel better.

Yay 2jellybeans on your good u/s!!

I go in for my u/s in less than a week now (Tuesday the 8th)! I hope both little guys/gals are looking good and strong h/b. I'm so worried but trying not to think too much about it. I haven't been to the doc in what seems like forever. This is weird for me as I was going to an RE for fertility treatments, so I was going like every week at least once since May. I will be glad when she releases me to my OB, who I will see for the first time on the 15th.

My appetite has come back! I never had major morning sickness, but most foods (except Mexican?) made me gag just thinking about them. I had to eat but didn't enjoy. Suddenly, EVERYTHING is gooooooood. :D I'm 10 weeks tomorrow!

Got good news from ob yesterday :) he said everything looks fine I need to stop worrying he told me not to worry about the sac size at this piont the sac measurments mean very little? Ok I say. We heard I heard both there heartbeats yesterday the first time it was awsome. Ob did give me a script for prozac siad I need it and told me to call my sugar levels in he did not like them I am diabetic was before pregnancy used pills with success but they switched me to insulin what a major pian. when I went to get the script filled I questioned the pharmacist since the script read provera and I had heard that before I mentioned I was pregnant and told her I did not think this is what the doc wanted she no you should not take this while pregnant. While she called the ob I remebered what provera was I took it to get my period when trying to get pregnant through th fertility. Imagine that ob says I am paranoid I wander why if I would not have questioned that script who knows what would of happened the ob did not wright it one of his office girls did and they all know I am pregnant belive me when I go in next I will be sure to tell him. but as of now things are great with my babies.
On another note is anyone having nose bleeds? I had 3 yesterday.

I am sure evrything will be great! I heard my twins hb's for the first time on u/s at 5 weeks. :-) It was awesome!

Welcome Jessica!

Dusty, glad that you got better news from the doc. So, what happened with the script being for provera? What was it supposed to be? That's really dangerous if the girls in the office are messing up precriptions - could be fatal to babies. Make sure to tell your doc about it.

Trish, I saw the h/bs at 7weeks, but haven't heard them yet. I'm just really paranoid about losing one. We're too excited about having twins to find out that one is gone... Dh is a twin so he's just crazy excited about us having twins. I'm just really glad because I'm 33 and have always wanted at least 3 kids, so this kinda helps my family plan a little. :) Anyway as you can tell, I'm quite anxious about my next u/s. Only a few more days...

No nosebleeds for me. In fact, this week only tired. Even my indigestion seems to be lightening up. The weight is slowly coming on (I think I'm up to 4 lbs gained so far and I'm 10 weeks today).

DustyMack-so glad, glad, glad all is well. :)

Welcome Irishmom! This is the best site ever! Welcome, welcome! I will have 4 babies under that age of 2 1/2 after the twins are born. I too wonder how to do it, but I'm sure it will all work out and be wonderful. I'm sure it's like those of us with a singleton for the first all wondered how to take care of that first little one when it was born. It will come to us. I hope! :D

I have had an appetite since about week 9. I woke up one morning and was starving. Before then it was a forced situation being really nauseaus(?). Now I am hungry all the time. In fact I made my d/h stop at Arby's for the 5 for 5 deal and I ate two, and had a big glass of o.j. and was hungry an hour later. I have finally gained 3 pounds and have a belly. It doesn't help that I didn't loose it with the last baby before getting pregnant again (baby is 7 months).

I can't wait to hear the babies h/b. I am 12 weeks today. I go in at the end of this month and hope to hear them then. When do you ladies go to see your perinatologist? My dr. said about week 20 if all is going well. So far so good.

Hope you all are having a great evening.

P.s. I am feeling these little ones wiggle, wiggle. What a thrill!

Hi I'm here. Busy day at work.

As for appetite, I had barely any appetite until last weekend (a little over 9wks) and suddenly food is goood again! I'm still not able to eat a whole lot at a time but at least I'm not gagging at the thought of it like I was earlier. The only food I was really interested in was Mexican food. Weird...

Anyway, my weight is coming on pretty easily so far -- I'm up about 6 lbs according to my scale, we'll see what the doc says next week. She put me on Ensure 3x/day (her protocol for twins), but I'm only doing 2x/day because the stuff is NASTYYYYYY. But I'm not eating a ton more, so not sure why it's coming on so easily. I never really had morning sickness (well not vomiting anyway) so no problem keeping food down. Just wanting to eat was the problem. Not any more! :p

My u/s is next week - I can't wait! It's been almost a month since I've seen my little beans!!! Then my RE will release me to my OB finally, who I will see on Nov. 15th.

gotta run.... Hope you all have a great weekend. I will probably try to pop in tomorrow...

Oh ladies. I had a girl's night out last night and I ate way, way, way too much. It didn't seem like that much, but I could barely get out of the booth. All I had was a salad and some pasta (that I didn't finish). I thought my belly was going to explode.

I hear you about tummy pains. I could hardly roll over last night to find a comfy spot to sleep. I never knew two tiny little babies could take up so much room so food doesn't really fit in there too.;)

My weekend is blah. Just my boys and me. My d/h has to work until 9. My sister is going to come over and clean my carpets-sweetie pie, so that will break the same-old-same-old.

Hi,

I am new here, I have been reading the different message boards for a couple of weeks, looking for others due in May and I finally found you.:)

My name is Candice, I live in San Diego with my new husband of 4 months and we are 3 months pregnant with twins. Much to our suprise we found out we were pregnant 6 weeks ago, much more to our suprise was the first ultra sound at 6 weeks. No heart beats but 2 sacs. Our OB had us come back a week and a half later to do another ultra sound, and 2 very strong little babies were in there, the same size. That took some time to get used to.

I had my 12 week appointment yesterday, my mom was down visiting from northern CA so the OB did a super quick ultra sound so she could see the twins. One was very asleep the other was going crazy. Jumping and spinning and showing off for us.

Just wanted to share my story to catch everyone up, I am so excited to have others who are going through what I am at the the same time.

Heres to an adventure......

Well ladies, I guess this is goodbye... :(

I woke up this morning bleeding heavily (red). Went in for u/s... Baby B stopped growing at 8 1/2 wks. The u/s showed major bleeding all inside my uterus.

Baby A is still there, was swimming around like crazy, h/b was 173bpm. Measuring right now time.

I can't believe we lost Baby B. I was so excited about having twins. I'm so sad right now. They have me on bed rest all week so that my placenta stabilizes so we don't lose Baby A, too.

So, you won't see me around here anymore. It was really great "meeting" you all and talking with you. I wish you and your twinkies much health and happiness!

Grace - I am so very sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine the sorrow for you and your family. Our prayers are with you.

I read all the replys and posts about the cerclage and had to answer. I am pregnant with identical twins. (I also have 2 healthy boys ages 1 and 2). I have had cervical cancer and had surgery on my cervix, so I am seeing a special high risk OB at one of the major hospitals in the US. I am 12 weeks and they viewed my cervix and told me that a cerlage was a POSSIBILITY but they would not make that call unless it started to weaken. They are going to look at it again at 16 weeks. Both of my other pregnancies, my water broke at 29 weeks. So as high risk as I am they are still not going to do unnecessary surgery. And it is a regular surgery with all the normal surgical risks. As with any surgery, if your doctor recommends it, I would get a second opinion unless you are already seeing a specialist.

PS: They told me that they are probably girls! Will know for sure Dec 1st. Can't wait!

Although not officially due till 8th June 06 I really like the sound of you guys and hoped I could but in on the May crowd??!!!!

I have been looking at the postings for a while now and have finally plucked up the courage to say Hi. Almost 11 weeks pregnant with twins and very happy if not completely paranoid as well. This is my second pregnancy we have a 21 month old girl. I'm English but live in France but was really taken with this site, it was one of the best that I have found - well to be honest my Mum found it and told me to take a look. Hope you don't mind a foreigner jumping on board. I have my first proper anternatal on Saturday and my next scan on the 21st Nov, just keeping my fingers crossed that everything is OK.

Is it normal to be huge? Have been in maternity clothes for the last two and a half weeks and have a real mummy tummy, I was this big at 4 months with my daughter, a little scared as to how big I'm going to get.

Hope to have some extra encouragement from you all soon.

Grace- I am so sorry for your loss. Know that you and the newest Angel are in my prayers.

I had my 12 week appointment yesterday and was not very pleased with my appointment at all. I go to a practice where there are 2 doctors and 3 mid wives. I met w/ my dr at 8 weeks and loved her. I was told that I would meet w/ everyone in the practice, but I would deliver w/ a doctor, not a midwife. Well that was all fine and dandy, until yesterday.
I met w/ one of the midwives and she seemed nice enough. I went in and had lost 2 pounds, which no one seemed concerned about (except me). And when she did an internal u/s, she couldn't find one of the babies! I was freaking out! She left the room to go get a doctor, but both were in surgery. She came back and tried again and said that she could see the 2nd baby and a heart beat, but I didn't. So, needless to say, I am a bit concerned.
At my 1st appointment, my dr reccommended that I go for a Nucal Translucency b/c my DH's brother has a son w/ Down Symdrome. She said that she wasn't too concerned, but if I wanted to, I could get it done. Well, I wasn't going to get the test done b/c there is a chance for false results and I would not abort the pregnancy anyway. But, now, I am getting it done on Thursday b/c I want to see my babies!
Anyway!!!! Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to see if anyone else sees a midwife and I sort of feel like, what's the point it I am going to be delivered by a dr anyway.

I mostly post on the April thread but I read this one often and I just wanted to say how sad I am for you Grace. I also lost two pregnancies, one last year and one this year. My heart goes out to you and you and your little one are in my prayers.

Jess- Sorry to hear about your DRs appt! I would have been furious!! ARGH!

Tadpoles- welcome to the family. This is the land of freaking out with other women who are in the same predicament as ourselves! :) I have been in maternity clothes since week 9, this is my first pregnancy...

I don't feel them yet. But my DR said that is normal, for a first time pg it is usually 18-22 weeks, but she did say I might feel them sooner cause I have two! I am so jealous of those of you who feel them moving! Lucky!

Hope your DR appt goes well on thursday! I have a u/s tomorrow! I am so excited!!

Hi Everyone,

First I'd like to say to Grace that I am soooo sorry for her loss and she will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Tadpoles - Welcome to the board. I am fairly new to it, but found the warmest reception from everyone here in this MAY group. I was so glad to be due in May with all these fabulous women. YAY!!! Also...my husband is English. He's from Swindon...do you know it? Anyway, he will be thrilled to hear that I am talking with a fellow Brit. :) We also have and 18 month old daughter.

This morning I swore I felt movement while I was showering, but I figured I was crazy that it was too soon. My back is really starting to hurt though.

On the 18th I go in for another appt. They have to do another pap because the annual I had (right before I got pregnant) came back A-Typical. The Dr. says not to worry, but I am a little because that is a first. I also am concerned because with my pregnancy with my daughter I had 3 HUGE Fibroids throughout the pregnancy and it was a concern. Now with two babies and Fibroids (if they grew again) I will be in a lot of discomfort and busitng at the seams.

Wow , thanks for all the warm welcomes. I was also really sorry to hear about Grace and although I never chatted with her I read the posts and felt a numb feeling inside when I understood what had happen, I saw all the best wishes emails before I found the the reason they were being sent. I think it has drummed home to me that these things are so fragile and can decide to change direction at any moment, heres hoping that twin b hangs in there, I have read that if you miscarry one and the other hasn't gone with it, it is a really strong baby and wants to stay.

I think that if you want to and feel up to it Grace, you should stay on this site, the baby you are having is still a twin and nothing can change that, I personally would love to hear how Twin B is getting along, However I can not imagine how you must be feeling and would understand if the last thing you wanted to hear about were other womens twins pregnancies. Best of luck for the future if I don't see any more postings.

It is great to find a place where you can say exactly what you feel, today I have had a bit of an off day, just really hormonal and headaches. I am also a little concerned cause I seem to be losing weight, I have a bump which seems to be growing yet when I weigh myself the weight seems to be dissapearing, I was hoping this would happen after the birth. Anyway as I heard that it is really important to gain a good amount of weight during the first trimester, I am a little concerned. Has this happened to anyone else? I will mention it to mu DR when I seem him on Saturday. I think I have felt the tadpoles moving, I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't been pregnant before, it was a air bubbley feeling that I had before but with my daughter I didn't feel it until I was about 20 wks.

Well I'll catch you all later, I seem to be into typing essays and must get into shorter postings, it's just great to be able to 'talk' to people who have all the same concerns, really helps put my mind at rest. :p

I lost ten pounds my first trimester. I haev gained back three lbs and I have another DR appt tomorrow and I am sure that I have gained more. My DR wasn't worried about the weight loss because I had bad morning sickness in my first trimester. But def ask your DR.

I just have to tell you all that I was so exhausted yesterday that I could hardly keep my eyes open. I had gotten plenty of sleep the night before but by 5PM I couldn't make it anymore and took a little nap on the sofa, then got up at 5:45 and ate a bowl of cereal, and by 6PM I was in my bed for the night!! I slept until 5:30 this morning (with the usual interruptions in the middle of the night to pee and once to eat). After getting up this morning, I ate breakfast, checked e-mail, and took a shower - after all of that I was so tired I went back to bed for another 45 minutes!! I am still dragging today but am better than yesterday.

I had been tired earlier in my pregnancy but never to this degree. I am just glad that I have a flexible job (only work 4 hours a day on my own schedule) so I can rest more.

Any one else been this tired??

I have those days too. Yesterday was one of them for me as well. But I thought it was because we had rain here which tends to make me sleepy. But I slept really well last night and feel rested and much better today. It's hard though going home after work and trying to entertain an 18 month old when I'm soooo tired.

Trish...cute picture. I must compliment the tan too but the first thing I noticed was the Champagne. Gosh I could use a drink.

Hello everyone,

Grace sorry to hear your news, I did not get the chance to know you but my thought are with you.

Thank you Trish for the welcome, great picture. I am going to try to use my limited computer skills and place a picture also, we'll see if it works.

Welcome Tadpole great to have you.

Ok everyone is saying they are in maternity clothes, I am 13 weeks and still not in them, I am worried that I am not big enough. My Ob did not measure the babies at my last appointment which was Friday, but she did not seem concerned. I did not lose or gain weight my 1st tri-metser. I just hope those 2 little ones are right on schedule. I am starting to have a small belly, Maybe I will just shoot out all at once.

I have not felt anything yet, I am waiting. I am a nurse so I borrowed the doppler from our floor and found the babies heart beats with my husband, it was great.

It was back to work for me today, hope everyone is feeling ok.

Candice

I can't figure out how to add a picture, Trish can you help???

I know how you feel about being tired. I didn't get my nap today for the first time and I am just exhausted. I think I slept through most of the last 12 weeks. Although having a 1 year old and a 2 year old is draining in itself. They are 11 months apart, so I will have Irish twins and Identical twins! As my husband keeps reminding me, I will also have 4 kids ages 2 and under!

Can't wait until they all go to college at the same time.

Thank goodness my job has been so flexible. They are talking about bed rest in December and I am just dreading it. No Christmas or New Year's plans for me.

Next u/s is December 1st and they are going to tell us the sex for sure. So far they claim it's girls. Let's pray. I am not sure I can handle 4 boys.

I have been in maternity clothes since week 8, but lost 2 lbs in the last 12 weeks. Hopefully by December I will put on a few. My first 2 boys were 3 lbs and 4 lbs and were both 8 weeks early, so I know they are worried about the twins getting some meat on them.

Anyway, just wanted to say that today was one of the good days and I am off to bed. Thanks for "listening".

Me too, I have been so tired that I can hardly keep awake, I'm lucky because my Mum lives just 10 mins away and she has our daughter for 2 days a week to give me a rest, on thoses days I just veg out on the sofa or in bed eating and watching tele. It is hard though on some days when I am at home on my own with her, lately it's been ok but a week ago I was so tired I had to put her in her cot with a load of toys so I could have a lie down. The poor girl had only been up a couple of hours and gave me the strangest look- I felt so guilty, but I was in no fit state to look after her until I had slept. She keeps coming up to my belly rubbibg it gently saying baby (she hasn't got the plural bit yet) and kissing it, it's so sweet.

Candice - A friend of ours had twins almost 4 years ago, I remember that she didn't show very early on, but got huge towards the end, the girls were born at 33wks and although small were healthy and didn't need help breathing or anything, they kept them in Hospital for around 3 wks for them to put on weight, but now you wouldn't know it they are beautiful girls.

Candice- How lucky that you are able to borrow the doppler machine! I wish I could have my own so I could check on the babies everyday!!!

I am also very tired all the time. I work 4 ten hour days. When I get home to my 9yr old and 18 month old we have dinner time, homework time, bath time, story time and bed time. After that, I am so tired, that it's usually mommy's bed time too!! I see my DH in the hallway sometimes and that's about it!!! LOL! So it seems like being tired is a common thread between all of us!

As for the maternity clothes...I am in them now (w/in the last couple days), but I lost 2 pounds in a month. But, since this is my 3rd pregnancy, I guess the body remembers and gets ready earlier. I am for sure showing now. It's a little depressing, but well worth the outcome! :D

Hope everyone is doing well today.

Jess

HI to everyone and welcome to all the newbies. I did not get on yesterday I had a terrible backache and lots of growing cramps. Today I just got up from a 2 hour nap. I have also had morning sickness and have vomited 3 times since Friday I thought once you hit the second trimester that goes away mine seems to just be starting over. I know what you all are saying about being hungry for me I am all the time now (last 2 weeks) since I am a diabetic I am only allowed so many carbs in a day and need to do my insulin 4 times a day and check my sugar up to 10 times I am so sick of needles. I really think I have been feeling my babies move they are both on the right and baby B is pushing out I have lost 6 pounds in my first trimester and hope to have gained somthing when I go in next Friday. My ob is not real concerned since I am on the special diet (low carbs).

Welcome, welcome, Tadpole mommy! How exciting for you. I am so happy you joined us! I too was so glad to find this site. My sis-in-laws, sis-in-law told me about it. She has two year old twins. There is no one I know with twins where I live, so to make friends on-line who know what I am going through is wonderful. Hope you enjoy this site as much as I do. Where in France are you? My sister's boyfriend is there right now, close to Paris, so just wondered.

I have lost weight! What is wrong with me? I eat like a horse, no joke, I am grazing on food all the time. I am almost 13 weeks and haven't been sick since 9 weeks. I thought I gained three, but when I weighed again I was back to normal. I see my dr. on the 28th and will ask then. My belly is getting bigger, but that may be because my body recognizes it's pregnant again (3rd time) and says, "Let's get things going lady!"
I can still fit into my regular pants but maternity tops feel the best.;)

Do any of you feel like you are loosing your mind? I can't remember anything. My poor d/h has to remind me of things all throughout the day. He will call from work and ask, "did you do this? Did you do that?" It's a good thing he does or I would forget my mind.;) Does this happen to all pregnant women or am I really getting alzheimers? I had a dream last night someone asked me something and I said, "I don't know, I have alzheimers."

I feel those little babies move like nothing else and my dr. can't say it's just gas. Lefty baby is sooooo kicky, especially when I sit down. Righty is a little more calm, but does wiggle. I wonder if that's their personalities coming through already?!

I hope you ladies have a wonderful day. Talk to you all later.

Someone mentioned that they wished they could have a doppler to listen every day. I did that for my first pregnancy! You can rent them at a variety of places like www.babysheart.com. Fairly reasonable too.

Today was a very sick day, my 1 year old and my 2 year old were home all day and I couldn't get a bit of sleep. I love spending time with them, but there is only so much a body can handle at one time.

I hope to turn the corner soon.

Hi I'm from the April thread and I was reading your thread and someone was asking about a doppler. I got something from Wal Mart that you can hear the babies heart beats and also them kicking. It was only twenty dollars and you can listen with headphones and even record your babies heart beats so other people can hear. I also have seen it at Sears with 2 headphones so you and your hb can listen together.

What section of WalMart or Sears is it in? I want to get one of those this weekend.

Also, are any of you experiecing a dry mouth. It's driving me crazy and I wasn't sure if it was a pregnancy thing or not. I worry that I have bad breath all the time. I don't remember it with my daughter.

Hope you are all doing well today.

The moniter is in the baby section at both stores. I have really bad dry mouth too usually at night. The best thing to do is drink plenty of water and sucking on candy usually helps. Has anyone been looking at cribs. Does your babies seem to push hard on your stomach or play around your cervix if you are on your feet to much. Oh I forgot you can also record your own heart beat so when they babies are born and it can help sooth them.

Hello All-

I am new to the boards. I am 29 and my husband and I are expecting twins after a round of fertility meds and invitro, in May. We have one son already and he is 4. He is really excited about being a big brother! I am 11 weeks and we had our first twin confirming ultrasound at 8 weeks. One twin was measuring about 1 week behind the other one so we had another ultrasound at 10 weeks and they both looked great measuring the same with strong heartbeats. They were both really active also! I have had nausea in the mornings and in the evenings and I get very tired starting at about 8 at night. I switched from my usual Ob to a new Ob that has a perinatologist right in the office. My Doctor felt I should start seeing one considering twins are high risk and I had a high risk pregnancy with my first. We are very excited and nervous!

Good Luck to Everyone!

I just got back from my Nuchal Translucency test (u/s), and everything looks good. The neck folds were "normal", so no signs of Down Syndrome at this time. Twin "B" was moving around like crazy in there! It's so amazing to be able to see them in there. Thay are in seperate sacs and have their own placentas and are measuring about the same. I am so relieved after my appointment on Monday. I can breathe a little easier now. :D

I hope the rest of you gals are doing well!

I see my dr. every 4 weeks and have an ultrasound every time. I haven't heard the babies heart beats, but know they are there since I get to see them. I have my next u/s on the 28th.

Hi all, just wondering how you all are? I am feeling really good today, about time, I have felt cruddy for about the ladt 3 days. Actually went out last night, had been told by my Dr to not go in the car to much during the first trimester, so I have paced around the inside of the house for what seems an age. Last night we went to my parents for dinner, it was great seeing the inside of somebody else's home!! Got my antenatal tomorrow and just over a week until I can see my babies again.....yipee, this time they should look like babies and not blobs! How many times do you have scans? for existing mums are you having them more than with a singleton pregnancy? I had 4 scans with our daughter and feel I would like more this time, just to keep my mind at rest. I have loads of questions to ask my Dr, I have read that during a multiple pregnancy you should have more visits to your Dr and More scans, those of you a little further on than me (11 wks) have you found this to be the case?

Good morning to all!!! I am so glad to read here and see that I am not the ony one having a hard with fatigue. In my first 2 pregnancies this was never an issue, but with this one I could care less if I get out of bed. I have to make myself get up and take my son to school. I have actually thought about keeping him home a day ot two:) I went for my ultrasound on October 28 and found out we are having twins but I haven't seen my Dr since... I go next Thursday for a visit.. I am so anxious to hear the heartbeats again. With this pregnancy, it seems I am so nervous. I just can't wait for reassurrance that everything is okay. Although I can wait to step on those scales. I feel it might not be good!!:) Hope everybody has a great day!!!

Hi to all. My name is Valerie and I am 26 y/o, and pregnant for the first time. My husband and I have been married for 5 months (today!) and he has a daughter that is 5 years old. We were trying to get pregnant and I came off of my birth control pills and we got pregnant within the first month. We went for our first prenatal visit at almost 9 weeks and surprise, surprise, it was twins! That was definitely the biggest shock of my life. We were not expecting it, although it is a wonderful and welcome surprise. Come to find out, my husband has two sets of twins on his side that we did not know about and there is a rebound effect for some women during the first month off birth control and they can drop more than one egg. The things that your doctor doesn't tell you.
I am 12 weeks and two days now and my due date is May 26th. I am supposed to graduate from nursing school with my BSN on May 13th, but we will see if I will be able to walk the stage.
I have been having all the normal pregnancy things, like a little morning sickness early on, a lot of fatigue, even now, and I am getting bigger. I am able to eat just about anything, and in the early parts of the day, I have no problems eating, but as the day goes on, I get fuller a lot faster and my tummy seems to stick out much more. Does anyone else have this happen?
We are not due for our next appt. until the 21st. I hate the waiting. My husband seems to think that the dr. said that he will be doing an u/s at each appt. I hope so, but I was in such shock at the first appt. that I did not take everything in that he had to say!
I guess that is all for now. I feel behind, but I have had some trouble signing up in order to be able to post on this site and I just got everything worked out. I am really glad to have found you all, it helps to share what is going on.

hi Vbpinson,

I'm pretty much a neewbie here but can say I have been made to feel very welcome and like one of the crowd. I get what you mean by the eating thing. Somedays I feel I could eat forever and other just the smell of food puts me off. I felt really bad the other night, dh cooked a lovely meal and I took about 2 mouthfuls and spent the rest of the time pushing the remainder of the meal around the plate. I am hoping that my appertite comes back soon as normally I really like my food! just like you I am always a lot bigger at the end of the day, I was the same with my first baby, I loosen my maternity trousers a couple of notches in the evening only to have to tighten them again the next morning. Have any of you read "our birth story" about the twin boys borns recently? there's a pic and they look so cute. Well girls keep those tummies growing - chat to you all again later.

I bought this when I was pregnant with my son and I really wasn't satisfied with it. I hardly ever heard anything and you had to be so still to not confuse your noise with the noise of the baby.

Seems like some days I'm bigger than others, it's weird actually. For some reason the area above my belly button is fatter (comes our farther) then the area belly my belly button. I don't know if it is because I was fat to begin with or what but it's weird. I am going to ask my doc on Tuesday to feel and have him tell me where my uterus is up to now. I still have a little waist line and that makes me think that my uterus is still under that.

They are doing flu shots here at work today and I just came from getting mine, ouchie, I was actively bleeding. The lady that did it said that it was because I was pregnant. Ouch, it burns. Hurts to type. Ok, I'll quit whining now.

So, yesterday my 18 month old daughter locked the door when I went into the garage to put something in the garbage. I went into an immediate panic mode because of course we don't have a hidden key outside. I was running around the house like a mad woman trying to see if any windows or other doors were unlocked and of course they weren't. I ran to my neighbors and grabbed her phone and called my husband. We have these thick double pane windows and i didn't know if I could break one safely.
Anyway, to make a long story short he drove like a maniac home on the shoulder from work (an hours drive) and I stood at the window talking to Annie with our neighbors all telling me it was ok and she was fine.
Well, it all turned out fine and she was none the wiser and had forgotten all about it within 5 minutes of us being back inside. However, my stress level took a toll.
This morning I woke up and was spotting. Of course I tried to stay calm then called the my Doctor's office. They had me come in to be safe. And to be honest I could help but feel a little embarrased. I felt like I was being paranoid. I know that is stupid, it was how I sort of felt. Anyway, they did an ultrasound and they are both ok. They are lying on on top of the other and sideways. One of them was moving it's arm as if waving which was cute.
I told the Dr. it is amazing to me that when I first found out I was having twins I was so unsure about it and not necessarily thrilled yet now the relief I feel to see them both ok is overwhelming. He said just wait until they are here!!!
So, the outcome is that I have to not exercise, not pick up Annie, take it easy, no intimate realtions for 10 days, (to which I said do I get a note from the Dr. for that), and basically avoid the stress. Which I don't kow how I could have done that yesterday.

Anyway, I just wanted to share the worst 24 hours I have had in a long time!!! Nothing like feeling like the worst mother alive when you are about to become a mother to two more.

Oh my goodness, I am sorry sorry to hear that you had to go through that yesterday. That stress is what must have triggered the bleeding, is that what the doc said? I am glad to hear that the babies are ok. Just try and relax for a while! :)

YOU ARE NOT THE WORST MOTHER IN THE WORLD!!! Don't ever think that! It was an honest, silly mix-up. It could happen to the best of us. I actually chuckled a little when I read about it! :p

Well, at least the babies are ok. Try not to be too stressed or you'll end up on bed rest.

try to take it easy and keep us informed on everything.

You are so not a bad mom! (andtwinsmakethree) that could have happened to anyone, but I can well imagine your panic! No fun.

I am feeling slightly better today, I really think I have some kind of bug. Major bummer :(

Valerie,
WELCOME to the board. This place has been a life saver for me! I love it!!

Were you all talking about registering a few days ago? We registered at Target and Babies R us, also Wal-Mart for Dh's family, where they live in Vermont the closest Target is two hours away. EEK!

My babies shower is DEC 10th cause after Christmas I am moving to Ohio and my DR said I should not travel further than an hour away at that point, so I am having a really early shower, I just hope I look pg then asnd not just fat like I do now. :D

Ok, I am going to pre-apologize now for this post and any other TMI post hereafter... :p

ok here goes:

I know that many of us have been having poop problems. I have a few questions/concerns.

1) Does anybody go days without pooping and then go days with Diarhea???
2) Has anyone else gotten hemmrhoids or bloody fissures from "straining" while trying to go????
My poop schedule is ridiculous. My butthole is so sore! I feel so concerned about it and my OB says it's normal, which it may be, but I find that I HATE  being told all this weird **** is normal! CAn I get a little sympathy??

Anyway, THANKS for lettingme vent.

Just one more word on the Dopplar listening machines. The kind that you get at Walmart and Target have gotten terrible terrible ratings from other monthers. You can get a hospital grade dopplar on ebay fairly cheap. It even displays the heartbeat rate. Or you can rent one on several sites, no prescription needed.

My first pregnancy I rented one from www.storkradio.com and it was fab! This time I am going to buy one on Ebay and then resell it.

13 weeks today, can feel them both. Next ultrasound is December 1st. Hoping for girls.

Oh, and if you haven't found www.babycenter.com yet it has a lot of good tips and answers, especially if you are first time mom and have questions you think are silly but aren't!!

Hi - I'm a May 2005 Mom of identical twin girls. It is a hard, but oh so rewarding, experience.

I didn't take time to read all your posts, but I hope you are all healthy and excited about getting to find out the sex of your babies soon (ok it'll probably be a few weeks yet).

I was very fortunate and received lots of clothes as gifts so many of their little things were never worn (or only once) - if anyone is interested in purchasing newborn (& up) clothes for girls let me know and I'll try to send some pictures/descriptions of what I have available.

We have a yard sale at our multiples group in March, so I'll be trying to sell anything there that I still have on hand.

You can PM me or send me an e-mail at sarahkozul@cox.net if you're interested.

Had my antenatal today and so far so good, blood pressure is fine, no leg swelling and as long as my next scan is ok the weight lose isn't serious either. Have been signed off work for another month and think I will be kept off for the whole pregnancy. This is great for being able to sleep and rest pretty much when I want (as long as India our daughter allows me) it's not so great in the passing of time the weeks are dragging by. I had an early contraction at 22 wks with India and asked the Dr if it was likely to happen again, unfortunately he said yes so this pregnancy is all about plenty of rest. I am pleased thought causse he told me I get to see a Dr every 15 days with a scan every month so that will help pass the time.

On the poop subject, god I am so glad someone other than me bought that up. I am having a problem in the irregularity department and then when I need to go it wont happen or gives me really bad stomach pains. I had this last time so I'm not too concerned but it is a pain and can be embarrassing. Sometimes it's a case of I have to go now and when your not at home it's a little difficult. Hemmaroids are a problem wait until nearer the end oh boy and then after the pushing during the birth hee hee you feel like you need to sit on an ice pack! I was told though not to strain as this can have an effect on the babies - when you give birth you are told to push like you are having the biggest cr*p of your life, so the two muscles obviously have an effect on each other. Eat lots of prunes!!!!!!

Do you guys have a choice of how to deliver? I was told today that I don't get a choice, it's a case of if everything is fine then I deliver in the normal way but if there are any probs then I have a C-section. Haven't fully processed this, Gave birth vaginally before and it was quick 6 hrs start to finish but with twins am a little concerned for the health of the second and the eye watering factor for me. Well I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Apologies agin for this being such a long post - just had lots of news today.

Georgina,
:) You completely made me smile at that! It's very hard not to strain when your body wants to get poo out and it refuses to cooperate! I will be discussing this in further detail with my DR.

Thanks everyone for all your answers. I get so nervous and freaked out sometimes because I have never been pg before and now- double whammy. I feel like a freak sometimes!!

why is it that when you are pregnant your body decides to go into overdrive in the bodily function department? I am amazed that I am still married, dh had to put up with me complaining about piles, discharge, farts and burps last time and has actually stuck around to hear me start again- only this time with two it seems much much more. He said to me the other day that I am challenging the dog in the wind department!!!!!! how lovely is that - good job I wasn't too emotional I could have burst into tears..... is anyone else having this problem? I am sure it has something to do with all the leafy green veg I've been told to eat!

Why do I do this to myself?

Hi ladies-

I'm new to the board, and was hoping I could join you! I am 13 weeks pg with twins- this is my first pregnancy (except for one early miscarriage) and I did IVF. My due date is 5/20.

So far, this pregnancy has been a bit of a challenge... I was put on Zofran for my horrible morning sickness, had some bleeding at 7 weeks, and have had very light spotting on and off since- usually it looks like my cervical mucous is a very light tan color when I wipe. My doctors don't seem worried, but it definitely freaks me out. I've had ultrasounds at 6, 7, 10, and 12 weeks- and so far the babies look great- healthy and active! Next week I should hear the results of my first trimester screening, and am hoping that doesn't give me anything new to worry about. I'm renting a doppler from sweetbeats.com- and LOVE it! I use it every time I feel anxious and can always find the heartbeats easily, though sometimes it is hard to differentiate between the two.

My biggest concern right now is trying to gain weight- I read Dr. Luke's book and was a little overwhelmed by how much she recommends you eat and gain! I have only gained about two or three pounds so far, and have a long way to go if I am going to put on the recommended 50... hoping my appetite returns soon.

Anyhow, I would love to join you ladies and share this amazing adventure!

Hope you're enjoying your weekends...

Best,
Elisabeth

hi Elisabeth,

Welcome to the clan, I have only been here for a week or so but feel like i've been here forever. I'm 11.5 wks and so far so good. I was bleeding a little at the begining not red but brown, it turned out to be an infection which I was put on medication for, I was really concerned that it would have an effect on the pregnancy. At that stage I had just found out and nothing was showing on the scan let alone twins. At 7 weeks the infection had gone but I had a couple of days where I was spotting fresh blood, I was paranoid that that was the begining of the end for me, I had my scan which showed not one but two babies both with strong heart beats, one was 171bpm and the other was 162bpm. Since then the spotting has stopped, I was told it was probably due to the pregnancy becoming established. I have my next scan on the 21st so fingers crossed all is well. If the babies are showing healthy on your scans and you drs aren't concerned I am sure all is OK.
You have had regular scans and the drs are aware of your concerns, I would try not to worry, easier said than done I know. Also an old wives tale is that the worst your morning sickness the stronger the pregnancy- don't know if it's true but I keep it in mind when I feel really rough.

The great thing about it here is that everyone is going through the same things and there are always lots of friendly 'faces' to help put your mind at rest or just to have a laugh with.

Hi everyone, sorry I have been gone for a while, after working 12 hours shifts it is hard to come home and get on the computer. This weekend I went out of town to visit my best friend and had a great time. I am feeling so much better, I am not nearly as tired as I have been and my appetitie is so much better. Actually it is quiet annoying I have to spend a good portion of my day eating.

I am 13 and a half weeks and man I have really popped out in the belly department. I am no longer worried about not showing as quick as everyone else. I listened to the babies heart beats at work the other day with the doppler, does anyone have any advice for telling the 2 apart. I am not sure if I am finding both or the same one twice.

I went shopping tonight for maternity clothes lucked out at old navy. It was kinda fun.

Elisabeth and Valerie welcome it is great to have you. Valerie I am 25 and have been married for 4 and a half months and pregnant for 3 months so I know how you feel. I got pregnant 2 weeks after stopping birth control so I definantely beleive in the whole rebound after birth control thing. I am an RN too I graduated in 2003 with my BSN, so I feel for you girl. I could not imagine being pregnant and finishing up that program.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone, Trish thanks for the picture info I plan on trying to figure it out right now. Get reay for mOnday everyone.

Hi ladies! Elisabeth- welcome to the board!! I have had a pretty uneventful pg so far. I have been on meds since 9 weeks to control m/s I have Zofran and phenegran. But the only time I had any pink discharge was after having "relations" with my hubby. I called the DR anyway and they told me that was normal!

Georgina- PICK ME! OMG! Can I cry or can I cry? That is all I do anymore! EVERYTHING makes me cry and I was never a big crier before my pg. It is ridiculous! My poor dh. I just flip out on him, I told him the other day by the end of this pg, I was gonna be a single mom. ;) I don't know how he deals with me!

Candice-I hope thepic info works for you! Glad you had fun shopping!

My grandparents are coming to visit in 2 days so I have to clean my guest room today, ughh!! I would like to just be lazy. I better run I have to go see a patient real quick. I do homecare also as a second job. Since being prego though I see maybe only 1 patient a week.

I hear ya on the not worry! This too is my first pg and I get so tired of hearing people say it's normal or don't worry! First this stuff is not normal to us, cause we don't know and HELLO? I am gonna worry anyway, so answer my dang question!!

I was starting to get lonely, it had been a little quiet in here the past couple of days, but I'm glad to see everyone is back and all seems to be well. This is a good time of the day for me to visit 'cause of the time difference there always seems to be more postings for me to read at the end of the day. When is Thanksgiving? We don't have it so when you talk of Turkey day I think Christmas! Do you celebrate with presents and things or just a family get together, come on guys educate me in American ways.

Just spent the last 3 hours on the phone to a girl friend in the UK, she told me she is expecting again (not twins) I was so happy for her as she has had 2 miscarriages and one at 10 weeks. She was going to go back on the pill for a while, she caught again with in days of her last miscarriage before she had time to go back on the pill and is now just 1 day behind me.

I know I keep going on about it but I really can't wait till my scan on Monday, why oh why does the time drag so when you are looking forward to something?

Trish - hows the toilet issue? did you speak to your Dr?

Well it's nearlly midnight so I think I will shuffle of to my bed, talk to you all soon.

Dusty Trish is right you call I have not felt any type of pressure pain. Just sharp pain in my groin areas which my OB told me was round ligament pain, but I get it a lot. I also get that sharp pain in my vagina but it never lasts long. Does any buddy get pains in their breats?? I do and it hurts, maybe growing pians??

Good night everyone. I work the next two days so hopefully I can chat a little, but maybe not. 12 hours don't leave me a lot of time for shatting.

Candice - I have started to get a pain in my left breast. Not all the time but it is sometimes like a dull ache, it started a couple of days ago and sometimes is really uncomfortable. I am going to mention it to my dr next week as he hasn't checked my breast since I first found out I was pg (better be safe than sorry).

Also the sharp pain in the vagina, not very nice feels like I'm sitting on a knitting needle sometimes, I was told last time that it is due to nerves that the baby / babies could be lying on.

I'm gonna try and figure this adding a photo out now so be afraid be very afraid!

Georgina- Thanksgiving is next thursay (the 24th of NOV) Usually we would all go to my mom's house and all her siblings and parents and there kids would come over and we eat lots of turkey, potatoes and green bean casserole etc etc etc...we stuff ourselves silly.

I haven't had any breast pains, but I don't think that mine have grown any. Seriously. I was really busty to begin with, so mine haven't grown, maybe when my milk comes in.

The round ligament pains suck! They hurt bad. And the vagina pains...lordy. Those are weird. Good thing they last for only 30 seconds because they hurt. Plus, the location of them freaks me out!! :)

Yeah, I was a DD before pg and I really haven't had any boob issues, they were sore for about two days at the beginning of my pg, but that is it. They are more sensitive than they were, but it is not a huge difference. I am sure when my milk comes in there will be some major growth... :D

well, i have had many of the issues that you all are talking about. i have the breast soreness, right from the very start and my size increased a whole cup size and one around by the time i was eight weeks (my husband is in heaven). i have the vagina pains, i am not quite sure what they are, but i always had them when i was having a period, so i bet it is some kind of referred pain for the stretching of the uterus. and of course the round ligament pains...
sorry i haven't written in awhile, i usually do so at work and i did not get to come into work yesterday.
yesterday i had a clinical rotation starting at 5am in the hospital and i started to feel woozy. i had an ensure on the way into the hospital and i have had this feeling before, so i thought if i could sit down, then it would pass. unfortunately, i did not get to sit down and i passed out. all the nurses were there and they took me down to the ER on a stretcher with a backboard. apparently, my blood pressure got really low and i fainted. i was in the ER for a few hours and they gave me some IV fluids and my potassium was low, so they gave me some oral potassium, too. i had a neurologist come to see me and i have to have an EEG this week on an outpatient basis, "just to be sure."
when i got home, i was sick twice because of the potassium and i was only able to take one other dose of it (i was supposed to take 3), but i have had three bananas since then.
they told me to eat and drink more. i truly thought that i was doing that, but like my mom said, i am still having trouble getting out of the mindset of watching my weight. i want to put on the correct amount of weight, but i don't want to put on too much, if i can help it, and so i am having trouble finding a balance. what i learned yesterday is that the babies are taking more from me than i thought they were and i do need to eat more often (i can't possibly eat anymore at each meal).
i was really embarrassed and now my head hurts where i have a goose-egg on it. but on the up-side, i was able to hear at least one of the babies heart beats on the doppler, they said that they thought that the second one was an echo of the first and that they were moving around a lot!
i go to the ob next monday and i know what you all mean, i cannot wait to see them again. the waiting is so hard.

Hello ladies! Sorry I haven't been on in a couple days. The weekend's are so busy for me that I don't even see my computer, let alone log on to it.

I am in Olmsted Township, Ohio to answer the question from the baby nurse. And, I agree w/ Trish, no extra money for hired help. I do appreciate the offer though. This would be a site to be on for that...Good Luck!

I also have "poop problems". I laughed out loud when I read about you girls b/c it felt like I was reading something I wrote! It's "normal" I've heard, so , I'm not too concerned about it. And the gas issue? Oh yeah, I get it too. Not to be totally weird, but it has never felt so good to pass gas before.

As for my breasts, I get major shooting pains right through my nipples. It hurst so bad, but only for like 2 seconds. And they are huge! My DH loves them too. But, he cannot touch b/c it usually hurts too much. It's a normal thing for me though. With my last 2 pregnancies, I got huge and sore too. They are just getting ready for the milk!

vbpinson- you need to take care of yourself! I hope everything gets better and try not too stress (yeah right). Maybe you need to take some time off, if possible? Even a day or 2 to lounge in bed? I am saying a prayer for you, so take care!!

As for the lower pelvis pains... I got them yesterday after Christmas and grocery shopping. And the other day when I went for a walk. I think it happens when I over exert myself. Could this be the same for you ladies too?

Hi Ladies I am new to the board and am excited to be joining you. I am due with twins May 28 2006, and real excited and nervous at the same time.:) :p
This is not my first pregnancy as I have a handful of children already.
I went to my Ob for a prenatal apt. and took a routine u/s. Dr told everything looks great and healthy and thank g-d there is only one healthy baby. Just as those words came out of his mouth, he said I spoke way to quick because there are twins and I see two strong heart beats. My dh and I thought he pulled a fast one on us, since there are twins in his family or mine.
I am so glad to know that there are other ladies out there experiencing the same symptons as I am.

I mentioned to her that I can feel baby B it feels like a softball on my right side they are both on the right I really feel B when I first lay down he/she allways moves when I touch him/her though. She thought it odd that I could feel B at this stage anyone else have them sticking out yet? She also told me to call anytime I have a concern they would rather me call and it be nothing then it be somthing and not call.I told her my next appointment is Friday and she siad if I have any more problems they will have me in earlier. Welcome bzlamom

it's great having new people join and hear about their experiences.

Vbpinson - so glad to here you only ended up with a bump on your head and nothing too serious, take it easy, how can you manage to get up at 5am - I didn't even knew that time existed!

Just a quickie - is anyone getting head aches? I keep getting a dull ache behind my eyebrows, I know my blood pressure is ok so it"s not that but sometimes it's really uncomfortable. It's not all the time and I first thought it was when I was hungry as it seemed to go when I had eaten, but occasionally I get them just after I have had dinner.
Sure it's fine and just one of thoses niggly pg things but anything slightly different and I'm thinking worst.

Having a bit of a dull day today but was very pleased with myself when I figured out how to add a picture to my signature. Also enjoyed reading the thread about christmas traditions, it made me remember that it's just around the corner.

georgina- I had some interesting "dull" headaches myself. My DR said that they were due to the increased level of progesterone and should disapate. They did, but they freaked me out for a while. I would def ask your DR about them though!

I like the Christmas Tradition ones too! I love Christmas!!:p

I couldn't find it in twins first year so I did a search for holiday traditions and it came up. Love hearing about what other people do at christmas. We always make such a big thing out of it and it's always centered around the family. I have My MIL and her b/f coming to stay - invited before I found out I was pg- not loving the idea so much now but hey India needs to see her nannie, she lives in the Uk so we don't get to see her much. Then my folks and one of my brother and his partner are coming over for Christmas lunch. Really looking forward to it, India loves being surrounded by people and this way the more people here to entertain her the more chance I get to slip off and have an afternoon nap!

I've had a lot of headaches as well - some worse than others. In fact, many days I wake up with one. Prior to getting pg, I would often get headaches anyway so this is nothing new. What is new is that my usual remedies are not on the approved list when pg (Advil has always been my best defense and Tylenol just doesn't cut it). I am trying to tough it out most days without meds but many times they just escalate in pain so I have to take something.

Our biggest holiday tradition is for Thanksgiving when all of my dh's family come to our house. There ends up being 19 of us (9 of them kids aged 4.5 yrs to 19 yrs). Since they are all from out of town, we have most of them staying with us (one brother and his family stay at a hotel). It's a lot of fun to have everyone together. I have already told everyone, though, that I am not going to stand in the kitchen and cook like I have in the past - everyone is going to have to pitch in!! My MIL is really a big help though and is bringing as much as she can pre-prepared. My only panic moment has been the realization that Thanksgiving is almost here and I have done nothing to prepare - no shopping or cleaning or anything. We will be spending the weekend getting ready.

Happy Tuesday,

I am at work and suprised I even had time to chat. I get headaches all the time probably 5 days a week. They are dull at the temples. I actually have one right now. Tylenol doesn't really work, they atay all day until I go to sleep. Yes have I got the gas, whew. All the time. I can't talk long but I will try to talk later. No idea when the baby shower is yet. I actually am having 2 of then. One in northern Ca, and one in southern Ca.

Thank you Trish!! Sorry it took me so long to catch on. It has to be the hormones:) I hope everyone is doing well this morning. On the headaches, thank the Lord I haven't had any so far. With my last son, I thought I was going to die from the headaches and morning sickness. This pregnancy is so different from my first two. With them I was so sick and with this one my only complaint is be so very tired. I go to the dr in the morning and I am so very excited!!! I see another dr in the office mine is gone out of town. I really wished I could see him but one time of seeing another will be okay. I just have alot of question and I would feel better if my dr answered them. Hope everyone has a good day!!

Well I actually got up and went to work yesterday and worked a full day. I can work from home or go in, but I haven't been in for a while. I heard people talking in the hall about was I getting fat or was I pregnant, so I had to set the record straight. Men! They are worse gossips than women.

Feeling like I am getting out of the first trimester blues and all the symptomst that go with it. I am looking forward to the next couple of months going by quickly. I hired someone to paint my boys' room and as soon as I find out (Dec 1st) the sex of these babies for sure (think girls!) then I will have him paint the nursery too.

Actually had sex with my husband this morning. Not that you guys care or need to know that, but it made me feel great!! He got scabies from someone at work and if you are pregnant you can't use the medicine for it, so I had to avoid him like the plague for the past few weeks. Yuck, my skin was crawling all the time.

Glad to hear you all are doing well. I am actually doing great! With my first 2 babies my water broke at 29 weeks, but my high risk ob thinks they found the cause. A low grade bacterial infection in my uterus. Probably have been carrying it around for years. So I am on the last day of the anti biotics that will take care of it, so hopefully I can carry these babies for a bit longer than the last ones. I HATE NICU!! Nothing in this world is worse than being wheeled out of the hospital to go home without your baby. Nothing....

I find out December 1 if I have to have a cerclage also. Probably will and it's probably for the best. But I am still freaked about it.

Counting the days...

TW1NSMOM
11-16-2005, 01:28 PM
Trish, I have chosen not to have an amnio done with any of my children, because of the risk of having a miscarriage.
There are many different tests and scans that the dr. can do without putting the baby at harm. I know I would not take any risks.
My due date is May 28 2006 and hopefully I will find out Dec 05 what I am having.
I am so glad to see that everyone is feeling better.:) :o :p

Dh and I have opted not to have amnio as well. Unless my DR thought that there was a good reason (and she would have to convince me, but she doesn't think we need one) I won't have one done. I am 27, have no history of any genetic disorders. I know a lot of people have it done to prepare themselves just in case, but I can't do it!

For those of you who do- I am in NO WAY trying to disagree with your decision, it just isn't the right one for me!

Now give me more due dates ladies, I only have three people on my list!!

Hi everyone,

Haven't posted in several days. Had the weekend and then my daughter came down with a cold so was giving her all my attention. Just back at work today.
I am due May 25th. However, I have heard that it is very likely with twins you deliver early. Anyone else heard this? How early are we talking here?

My due date in actually June 1 but my Dr has already told me him would be taking them at least 38 weeks due to past surgery and 2 c-sections. If I can carry them to 38 I will be happy:) You guys just don't know how easier having this message board has been for me. Thanks!!

Hi ladies

I am due May 18th, I will find out the sex I hope around the last week of Dec. with my level 2 ultra sound. I can't wait.

We also opted out of the amnio, for us the risk does not out weight the benefit, and we decided there was nothing we could do if something happened to be wrong with the babies or 1 baby, so we will hope and wait for healthy babies.

I had trouble with the doppler also, what worked for us was for me to lay down and my DH had a much easier time finding the HB. It is much lower than you would think right on the pubic hair line. Try the middle as well as both sides and move the doppler very slow. Use KY if you have any. Good luck.

Kerry most multiple pregnancy average 37 weeks and not 40 weeks. But I will be one of the really odd ones that will go to 41 weeks and have to be induced.
Not my first pregnancy and my kids are very comfy in the womb that I have to be induced at 42 weeks. So I will be the last ones here to have their babies.

Hi All,

didn't post yesterday as I felt like cr*p, but today i have hit the 12 weeks and woke up feeling like a new woman!! Full of energy (this morning anyway). I am not really meant to be on this thread as I'm not officially due until June the 8th BUT in France pregnancy is classed as 41 weeks and not 40 so I am border line! I have also been told that with twins full term is classed as 37 weeks but I have heard of lots of people starting between 33 and 35 weeks. My aim is to get to 35 weeks min and anything after that is a bonus. A little concerned as I had an early contraction with India at 22 weeks, and although it was only the one I was put on rest for the rest of the pregnancy and the dr told me that due to pressure my birth canal was shortening. I asked him if I was likely to have the same prob this time and he said even more so because of the pressure of twins, so for me although I am not on bed rest I am on strict rest and no work.

We are not having the amnio, I didn't last time and to be honest I would rather not know, there is no reason to think there should be any probs I'm 27. I couldn't bring myself to abort if the baby was downs so I think I would just rather cross that bridge if I came to it. I know it's hard and I have discussed it with firends who said they would want to know so they had the choice, I don't think any less of them and if that's the choice they want to make then it's completely up to them. For me though I'm too chicken.

We are not going to find out the sexes either. We like the surprise, so for us it's all things cream and white and then I can go mad shopping when they arrive.

Have you guys thought of names yet. it was hard enough with one baby let alone two!

Again another ultr long post - sorry ;)

Hi girls no amnio for me I can not take the risk and would not abort anyway I have gone through to much to get here after losing the one in september 04 and the twins christmas day last year this is my miracale. We will not find out what we are having for a few more weeks. I see the ob tomorrow can't wait to hear them again. dh and I went through genetic testing after the loss of twins last year (my fertility place told me the baby tested had downs but I came to find out through a second opinion from my obs office that it was a trisomy 22 not 21 that is downs) Needless to say I was freaked out for weeks following the results saying downs we thought about not trying again and opted for the genetic testing which came back clear on dh and myself. My fertility doc had given up on us and told me he could not help anymore we should consider ivf after investing 25 grand on what we had done so far I could not afford ivf so I asked him to let me try one last time and here I am 15.6 weeks later with twins. Allways follow your heart or your gut instinct you are usally better off and know your body better then the doctor does.

Hello gals! Lots of new things to write about since I was here last.

My due date is May 22nd, but I think my dr said she would take them at 37 weeks.

I am not getting an amnio. I got that Nuchal Translucency test done and it didn't show anything abnormal. My nephew has Down Syndrome (husband's side), so it was a small concern for us. I guess the risk for abortion during the amnio doubles with twins. Too much of a risk for us. Plus, my nephew is such a joy and so smart that it wouldn't have made a difference for me.

As for the sexes, we are for sure finding out. I'm pretty sure at least one is a boy. I would love one of each, but as long as they are healthy, I could care less.

And names....well, I love Ava for a girl. Love it, love it, love it!!! I like Aidan for a boy. But, that could change. Aidan is getting a little popular now, but I like it though.

And you ladies? Any names yet?

Kerry- About the doppler, my nurse had a **** of a time finding their heartbeats via doppler at 13 weeks, she did, but it took a while. One was really low, on the right side near my pubic area and she found the other, at my belly button on the left. Little dudes! I wonder what they were doing! My u/s tech also gets their heartbeats every time I go, last time she had to chase them around for a while before she got them. I don't know at which point DR's hear heartbeats easily, but you could ask your DR. Have fun with your doppler!!

Yes Trish the breed was started in australia about 35 years ago they where bred to be hypoallergenic service dogs. My doodle as they are nicknamed is just over a year old His name is Buster I also have a standard poodle Ruby she is allmost 10 months. I bought them with the intention of breeding them since my fertility doc told me we would never have kids without ivf. Now dh is pushing me to spay and nueter them but I still want to try for pups. If I sell them via the internet threw the doodle sites I can get between $1200. and $2000. a piece for them and they average about 10 pups per litter. If I sell the locally I can get between $750 and $1000 each but I get to meet and interview the new owners. I have owned dogs all my life and I think I would not own anything but a labradoodle ever again Buster is like the perfect dog no need for a leash with him he is very smart and cute as a whip. dh bought him for me when I lost my twins last year so I have had time to get very close to him. here is a link to his picture on the doodle site. http://labradoodle-dogs.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=3&pos=222

It's sooooo nice to be back!!! I spent the weekend in the hospital. I actually went the dr. on Friday morning for bathroom problems. I had a hemerhoid(?) that was bleeding. My right side hurt like no other and I just wanted to puke. The dr. wasn't my normal one and told me I was ok in the bottom, use tucks, and to blame my pain and nausea on my prenatal vitamins (which have NEVER made me sick)!

My d/h got me home and I really thought the pain was going to do me in. He called our insurance nurse who said to get to ER. He then called the Labor and Delivery at the hospital to let them know and they said they would be waiting and to get to ER. My sis watched the boys while we went, sweetheart girl. To make a long story short they thought it was my appendix, ran blood tests, did two u/s (babies were fine, showing off, and both measuring a week ahead of schedule), and hooked me up to iv's to make sure I didn't have contractions. They kept me in L&D and gave me a million pain killers that didn't work. My ob came in and said the blood work wasn't showing my white count up so no appendix problem. He told them to give me some morphine, something for nausea, and something to make sure the contractions didn't come. I have never slept so nicely!:D The next morning the pain was almost nill and they were able to send me home with some Lortab. My ob said it was a swollen lymph node in my tummy that had contracted a virus and the only way for me to deal with the pain was some serious pain killers that wouldn't hurt the babies. Oh, man am I glad that is over!!!

Welcome all you new ladies. I am so happy we have more mommies to join us!

I was due May 25th but the ob moved it up to May 17th since the babies are same size and growing quicker and "healthier" than anticipated. He said that's normal?!;)

We are doing Thanksgiving at my house, just my d/h and boys, and my d/h is going to help cook. It's going to be lots of fun. After we are going to watch Christmas movies and put up decorations. My family is then invited over for pie, movies and games. We decided this because there is way too much family drama this year. My family is one theatrical society-loving the drama!!!

(Andtwinsmakethree)-you have my complete smypathy with being locked out! The same thing happened to me when I first found out I was expecting. My two year old deadbolted the door when I went to dump the trash. He didn't know how to turn it back and both he and I were freaked out. Everything was locked and I couldn't call my d/h since I had the car that day and the car keys were in the house. I hurried to my grandma's, a block away, and called my dad, who we rent our house from, he thought the whole thing was great fun, but came and unlocked the door. Needless to say my two year old had cried himself to sleep on the floor and our 7 month old was asleep on the floor next to him. I felt like the worst mommy and when they woke up were sooo happy to see me. You are NOT a bad mom, unless I am too.:p

I know this is so long, but I just wanted to catch up.

I hope all of you are feeling well, or at least up to par. I hit the second tri-mester and have ever so much energy. I love it. Still haven't gained a pound but at least I feel good and babies are good.

Oh, the ultrasound guy said one baby looks like it might be a boy, too early to tell for sure. Then the nurse in L&D was listening to their heartbeats and said one sounded like a girl, the one that was on the other side of where the boy would be.

So, we are thinking if we do have a boy/girl we will name them:
Rachel Lynn (after their grandma's) and Gideon Sevey (after a great-great grandpa). What do you ladies think?

Whew, what a lot.

I am due May 19th, but since my water broke with both my sons at 29 weeks, we are aiming for that to start with. Sounds like I might be the first to go among us.

I have an ultrasound on December 1st and we should be able to make a call on the sex. I am having identical twins so it can only go one way or the other.

I like Savannah (we got married there). But haven't thought past that.

Hang in there with the dopplar. It's hard to get the hang of it, but once you do, you will find yourself listening every day.

My goodness lot's of news and updates. I am glad everyone is doing ok and feeling alright. Grandma and Grandpa have been visiting so I am tired. But it is kinda nice they are so much more my speed these days. We all took naps yesterday.

I have also been reading Dr. Lukes book and it made me very nervous. She reccommends very early weight gain and I am no where near her suggestions. I have only gained 4 lbs. and she says for 14 weeks I should gain 14-21 lbs. To me that sounds a little over zealous. It still makes me nervous.

I am in the same boat it sounds as the rest of you no ultra sound again utill The last week of Dec. at 20 weeks. I hope they are more frequesnt after that.

For names we have Sophie, Bella, or Madeline. Boys we like Quinton, and I like Jackson but d/h doesn't so we have to work on the boy names. I love hearing everyones ideas.

Talk to you soon, I work all weekend so hopefully I can check in.

Hi all this are great here got my doppler it was here when I came home from work. dh found both the babies heartbeats was so fun he never heard them before found one on the right close to my belly button and the other on the left about 2 inches lower. My doppler is called babycom I bought it on ebay the person I got it from has another up for sale he sells them new and with a buy it now price of 145.00 free shipping it was well worth it the bebe sounds monitor I got at walmart s*cked I could here the cars passing my house when I used it and that was about it.
I have lost another pound but the ob does not seem worried so I guess I will not be either I am on a special diet since I am on insulins. I really think it is the diet causing the wieght loss never in my life would I have ever thought I would be happy to gian wieght:) I have actually lost 70 pounds in the year before I got pregnant. Most of it I lost after my misscarrage with my other set of twins on dec 25 04. Hope to lose another 70 after the twins are born (chasing them when older) One good thing about being heavy before I kept my clothes so I won't have to buy many maternity things. I have things that are as big as 5x why I wore my clothes that big I have no idea. I now where a 2x and they are sort of big so I can still fit the tummy in there for now. I figure after christmas I will have to break out some of the old stuff. Maybe the 3x they will be big in the shoulder on the tops but at least my tummy will fit:) .
Sorry for the long post it is 6am and dh is still sleeping so I am on here typing away.

What kind of twins is everyone having? I can't believe that you guys have to wait so long for another ultrasound. My doc says they won't ever let me go more than 28 days without having one and after month 5, every 2 weeks.

Probably because I am 40 and high risk with my previous cervical cancer.

We are having identical twins, but 2 sacs. I hear if it's one sac it's really scary because the cords can get wrapped around each other's necks.

So what about you guys? Fraternal or Identical?

-J

2jellybeans
11-19-2005, 02:26 PM
I think I am having fraternal. There are two sacs and two placentas. I'm not smart enough to have asked my dr. yet. (What's wrong with me?:p ) I just assumed that they were fraternal. I guess I should ask.;) I too have heard that if there is only one placenta twins are at a risk since they can end up sharing the same blood-TTT, and one can end up being smaller and the other bigger. Sorry, don't mean to frighten anyone-just sharing knowledge.

I have an ultrasound everytime I go in, which is every 4 weeks, unless something goes wrong. The time table the dr. sees me is the same as for my singleton babies, and I get to see my peri the first part of Dec. and they will do a level two u/s. So far everything is great and I just pray that this pregnancy is as uneventful as the first two. I am trying to keep the stress level and work load to a minimum and let my d/h and everyone else who is willing to help, do so.

Hope you all have a great weekend. I am going to celebrate my mom's birthday tonight so that will be a nice break away from the house.

See ya'll Monday.

Mommyhas4
11-19-2005, 02:47 PM
There is nothing wrong with you!!! But what the heck is wrong with your doctor?!?! They should have told you !!! 2 placentas means that they have a 2/3 chance of being fraternal and a 1/3 chance of being identical (I think!)

I only have one placenta. So yeah, they have to watch the twin transfusion thing. Still hoping for girls....

Hi ladies, I am so happy to hear everyone is doing OK.
I just finished reading a great book and would love to suggest it to you. It's called "The Multiples Manual" Preparing and Caring for twins and triplets by Lynn Lorenz.
It's written by a mom who has a set of triplets. She has great tips and ideas. When reading this book have a highlighter handy, because the author gives you great web sites and tips when your twins are newborns. Once you've highlighted the tips you want to try it will be real easy to find them at a later date.
You can buy this book at your book store or at www.justmultiples.com
Enjoy.

Hi Guys,

I'm a bag of nerves!!! I've got my U/S tomorrow at 9am and although I can't wait I'm also really nervous. I haven't had a U/S since week 7 and I am almost at week 13 it feels a life time ago that I saw my babies and then they were so tiny they were nothing more that a blob on the screen.

Will find out this time if they are Frat or Ident... my gyno thought they would prob be Frat as I was on a fertility tablet to make me ovulate more, but he also said that he couldn't really tell at 7 weeks 'cause the placenta hadn't formed fully. I have a feeling we are having one of each although dh thinks 2 girls....that would give us 3 girls in total, we had better start saving for the weddings now if that's the case!

I hope I sleep tonight, I'm so excited it feels like christmas eve!

Hello everyone,:)

I'm new here and just thought I would pop in finally and say hello. I'm pregnant with twins and due on May 21.

I wondered if anyone here had a nuchal translucency ultra sound done before week 14?

Also, is there anyone here considering doing an amnio?

I'm over 35 and my nuchal translucency results came back "boarderline" so I'm a little concerned.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi, I am due June 22 with my 2nd set of twins. With my first babies, I was wishing for the "belly window" also.:) (I can't remember the exact week that I did this, but it was as soon as my doctor could hear the heart beats the first time. ) I rented a fetal doppler that was better than the one my doctor had in his office from a company on-line called www.babybeat.com. I think it might have been about $30.00 a month to rent it but as nervous as I was, I think I would've paid anything to know they were okay.

It was so nice to lie in the bed and listen to them WHENEVER! I felt like it and needed to know they were still in there. Also, some of the dopplers have recording devices on them. I'm not sure how they work as I just needed the best basic one for my own reassurance. Check out their website and give it a try if you still are a little nervous. If everything continues to be as nerve-wracking with this pregnancy, I will rent another one from this company.

Best wishes!
Twice Twins

Good luck!!

Hi, what is an RE?

Hey all,

i've just got back from my u/s and I have to say I'm on cloud nine. Everything is fine and normal and all good things. Baby 1 was moving around like there's no tomorrow, it was really odd to see it moving so much but not feel it, it's positioned low with baby 2 higer up and slightly behind. Baby 1 measured (from head to rump) 54.8 mm with it's head measuring 19.1 mm and baby 2 measured 52.4 mm with a head measurement of 19.9 mm. Both babies are bigger that my daughter was at the same time, so I am really happy. The nuchal measurements were 1.2mm and 1mm so we are not going to have any testing done, my gyno said that the risks for us are 1 in 7200 and to have the test done would be putting the babies at more risk than not having it done (if you follow me).

Baby 2 was harder to see as baby 1 was hiding it a little, and it kept turning away everytime we tried to get a look. Feel awful saying it all the time but as we don't want to know the sexes they will just have to be known as it for now.

Oh yeah there's 2 sacks and 2 placentas so looks like frat for us! god I can't stop looking at the pictures, my gyno tried to do a 3d pic for us and although we could see it really well on the screen it didn't print very well, he said they were a little small to get a decent 3d picture of......but next time!!!!!

As you can probably tell I am so excited and surprisingly feel a lot more relaxed, it's as if my head has said OK you're over 12 weeks, and the scan was perfect stop worrying and enjoy it!

Hope to hear from you guys soon

Good morning all it is 730am here late for me to get up but I was up at 4 am and tryed to go back to sleep but forget it. Finally not so tired anymore but now I can't sleep owell. I really love my fetal doppler I bought first thing this morning I listened and found them both right away they seem to stay where they are most of the time. Baby B was moving right before I listened to them and I really felt (him) go. I still do not know what they are Dec 9th we hope to find out I just say he or him for B all the time no idea why i do it. My doppler is called babycom I bought it on ebay with shipping it was 148.00 I figure I have 5 1/2 months to go might as well buy one. I can resell it on ebay after. One thing I don't like about it is it really hard for it to count the beats there is some interference and it can't count them well sometimes it does but for the most part I just listen to them. Dh said this morning they sound like little trains.:)

I am so glad everyone is doing well, and having great dr. visits.
I don't have one until Dec. 05 that's two weeks away, and really want to know how the babies are doing, so I also bought a doppler on ebay, and can't wait for it to arrive.
How often are you ladies having your dr. apt?
I have them once a month until I reach 20 weeks and then I have them once every two weeks.
How often do you feel your babies moving? I don't feel them that often and starting to get nervous.
Have a great day.:) :o

Happy Monday All -

Ok so I broke down after reading all your doppler stories and I am getting one off E-Bay...well if I win the bid. I was getting so envious.
So, Friday I had an Dr. Appt. No US but heard both babies heartbeats. One is at 160 and the other was at 150. It was good to hear them both. I go on Dec 29th for the UltraSound that will hopefully tell us the sex of the babies. I truly have no idea what they are. That will be the next UltraSound I get. I can't wait. I really have nothing to report. Just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone.:p

hi - I felt a very faint flutter at about 10 weeks and then hardley anything since, but today after my u/s I guess they had been shaken up a bit cause I felt both of them moving around. I was surprised that I could feel them so early I was 21 weeks with my daughter. I know they say with a second pregnancy you can often feel movement sooner cause you know what the look for. I guess it's even sooner with twins! RE: drs appts, I have an antenatal every month but don't have a u/s at the same time. my nest u/s isn't until 25th Jan- my gyno siad all was well and I didn't need to go before, I trust him so much that I don't feel the need to question this, I know that I can call at anytime and go in if I feel I need to. It's frustrating knowing it's going to be so long before I see them again but on the other hand good news that he feels he doesn't need to see me more often.

General Question These dopplers - I guess they are heart monitors, are they worth it? do you not panic if you can't find one or both heart beats? I've not seen anything like them in the shops over here so am a little behind the times on the info.

Mommyhas4
11-21-2005, 05:46 PM
Ok, I bought a dopplar on Ebay. It's a great medical grade unit, and you can hear the hearbeats just great (I am 14 weeks). But it doesn't display the heart rate on the screen.

So I am going to buy another one with the screen and get rid of this one. I paid $140 for it, but I would sell it to $25 plus shipping for anyone that wants it. It's nice that you can listen anytime you want to.

So far no other mom has said they are expecting identical twins. Am I the only one? I am really worried about TTTS and just wanted to see if anyone else was - but this only occurs in identicals.

Holly - Welcome to the board!! As far as your amnio question, I will can only give you one piece of advice, that is strictly my own personal belief. If your nuchal came back borderline, you should ask yourself if you would terminate if the amnio came back positive. Otherwise you are just torturing yourself. Some people claim that it's better to plan ahead if you know you are having a down syndrome baby, but the bottom line is other than termination - you can't change it. So if the answer is no - you wouldn't terminate (and that is strictly a very personal decision) then you are just putting yourself through the heart ache of the risks of amnio. You will love your baby either way, why not just enjoy it. If the answer is yes - you would terminate - then of course the answers are there to be had with the amnio. Only you can make that decision.

Just my thoughts -
Jeanette

we went to our second ultrasound today and the babies are both still there! i am relieved because i am 13.5 weeks and i think that really lowers the chances of vanishing twin syndrome (although i hope i didn't jinx myself). they are both about 3 inches long and moving around a lot. they are both kind of on the right side with one baby on top of the other. still too soon to know the sex. he said that he will see me again in 3 weeks and then we will go to the level 2 u/s the first week in jan.
he offered us the cf and triple screen tests today and i think that we are going to pass. did anyone else have to make a decision about this yet?
i am having quite a bit of round ligament pain all the time, a shooting pain in both sides of my lower abdomen. dr. said that even though the babies are not any bigger than they should be, i will be feeling things on average 4-6 weeks sooner than moms of singles. i guess that also explains the sciatic nerve pain!
not much else to report. oh, trish, my due date is may 24.
talk to y'all later.

Valerie - I also have the siactic pain, I have had it for about a week now and sometines when I get up from sitting it makes by knees buckle. Glad to hear you u/s went well, isn't it a relief when you see both are still there and doing great!

I thought that vanishing twin was only up to week 12?

I breathed a huge sigh of relief after my scan on Monday and feel more relaxed, I knows there's a long way to go yet but it is nice to get over these mile stones.

Hi everyone. I am going to be a Grandma of twins in May 2006. So I am excited. My son and his wife already have 1 little boy who is 23 months old. So this is a surprise to have 2. At 9 weeks they did ultra sounds, and she will be having another one Dec 2. Just to check to make sure they are growing fine. The kids want to find out the sex of the twins, sure hope they can tell at 15 weeks. So I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to all you going to be mothers of twins. It will be so much fun.

Hi to all mothers expecting twins. I am a going to be Grandma of twins.
So its fun to read about all of you, and when your due. My daughter-inlaw is due May 25, but will probably have C-section May 10. She is having another ultrasound Dec 2, next Friday. Hope they will be able to find out the sex of the twins. They already have 1 little boy 23 months old. So there house will be crowded. They have also 4 dogs and 2 cats. But everything will work out fine. And it will for all of you expecting twins mothers too. Good luck to all of you. I will be reading your post.

Hi ladies! Just checking in. Hope everyone had a good weekend. I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving! I finally have an appetite and cannot wait for some candied yams!! Yummy! My dh makes the best :)

Seems like everyone is having good dr appointments, that's great! My next one is Dec. 5th. They will schedule me for the "sex" ultrasound then too. I hope they both cooperate so we can figure out some names here. I have a feeling that they are g/b twins. The u/s tech said at the nuchal translucency that they look to be fraternal due to 2 sacks and 2 placentas. I thought you wouldn't know for sure until after the birth though? I mean, obviously if they are b/g, you'll know. :D

Is everyone feeling ok today? I had a horrible hot flash this morning. I was sweating so bad that I left hand marks on my desk. I thought I was going to get sick and faint too. It only lasted about 5 mins or so, but I was miserable! Ayone else have anything like this happen ever?

Irishmom-I too have had the same thing "hot flashes". However my husband thinks it might be gestational diabetes, because they are the same symptoms my sister has when she has a blood sugar drop-she's a diabetic. I haven't had any for a couple of days and am going to ask my dr. about it when I see him on Monday-yay another u/s. Usually the only thing that works for me is to sit, and eat something little-high protein foods help. I will let you know what I find out.

I am so excited for Thanksgiving. Yummy food-mom's redhot jello salad with cream cheese frosting is a must have tradition. My d/h and I relented, and despite my family drama, are having Thanksgiving at our house with them. (We would have loved to have gone to Tucson to d/h family, but dr. said no traveling.)

Welcome all you new mommies and grandma. So happy to have you.

Have a great day all!:D

Hi Jess

When I was pregnant before I didn't get tested until late into my 7th month it might have even been the beginning of my 8th. I didn't know anything about gestational diabetes so was surprised that I got a perscription tell me to have a blood test. I had to go in first thing in the morning without having drunk or eaten anything, I then had some blood take, had to drink a cereal bowl full of warm water that had had sugar mixed into it wait in the waiting room for 45 mins and then have another blood test done. I'm am really dreading having it done again. All that warm water on am empy stomach made me want to be sick, it tasted nice at first but then just way to sweet.

they may do it differently for twins and possibly completely different in the States compared to here. If you think you may be at risk though I'd just mention it to your DR.

Hi girls I think they test for it in the 22nd week but I won't need it I have type 2 allready I have had it for 4 years. I have ben on insulin since my 8th week. I was taking the pills for it but you cannot take them while pregnant. It is a pian in the butt you have to watch everything you eat and carb count plus the 5 shots of insulin a day and testing your blood up to 10 times a day needless to say I am starting to look like a pin cushion.;) It is hard to see everyone saying what they can't wiat to eat Thursday since I have to watch it all turkey is ok but all the trimmings are carb loaded.
I was out today and the little guys started to move around like crazy was really strange since they don't seem to move all that much I was wiating in line to pay at the store and they started to have a party:) .

I guess I will mention this to my dr at my next appointment. One more thing to worry about now, great!

Just want to vent at how mad I am this morning....At work, we have monthly pot-luck luncheins that I started almost a year ago. Well, this month is Chili Cook-off. I am not a big fan of chili, so I brought milk and chocolate cupcakes. While walking into the office this morning, I dropped the gallon of milk in the parking lot. Needless to say, it spilled all over the place. I was so mad I swore sooooooo loud and everyone LAUGHED  Normally (while not pregnant) I would have probably laughed too, but I was so mad at them for laughing at me, I called them all as*%#es!! I guess there's no use in crying over spilled milk (LOL), but I am still a little mad about it. I better buck-up and get over it and apologize too, huh?

Just wanted to vent, thanks gals. Talk to you soon!

Diabetes is just something that runs strong in my family (type 2) so I am going to talk to my dr. about it since I have been having symptoms. Again, I am so sorry. I didn't have it with any of my other babes so hopefully not the twins.

Baby A was super active last night-which makes me wonder about the crazy dream I had in which a little foot was stuck out so far from my belly that it was hurting me. Kind of funny.:)

Thanks for the info about the 4D u/s. I wonder if insurance covers these. Probably not though. I think I'd want to leave something to surprise though. I mean, I will find out the sexes, do I really want to see features too though? I guess it's a personal decision.

Welcome twins5and6. I think most of us were all shocked to find out we are having twins. I still haven't grasped the idea totally. One day I will be in for a nice big shock.
I've had a 4d u/s done on my last baby, and since it was recommended by my doctor, the insurance did pay for it.
They claim you can see the features, but my dh and I had a hard time.
I think I was 28 weeks along and the baby is not that big yet, so there aren't that many features to see. The one nice thing about the 4d u/s is that it is in color and the baby looks a little more real. You can really see which part of the body is moving on the u/s.
If your insurance doesn't cover this u/s don't spend your money on it, just not worth it.
I was wondering how many of you ladies feet are starting to swell?
At the end of the day, my shoes don't fit me anymore, and my feet look a little swollen. I thought the swelling of the feet come towards the end of this wonderful pregnancy.
Well Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your turkey.

It has made me feel better that I'm not the only one who's been in shock about twins. I'm so scared about the whole pregnancy. I have four kids so adding two more doesn't faze me, but all of my kids have come early. I'm really worried about complications. I start the progesterone shots in two weeks and possibly a cerclage. I've been told that the ultrasound machine, the tech and me are going to be great friends. I am going to ask about the 4D at my appt next week. I've never seen one.
Has anyone else noticed the pelvic pressure starting already?
