Hello twinmomtobe! I will be praying for you and your little ones today. I know what you are feeling and only want the best for you and your angel. All good thoughts coming your way!
Twinmom,
My baby b has a two vessel cord also. We had our echo last week and everything was perfect. The girls were the same size and they are right where they are supposed to be. The DR. said that there are tons of people walking around today that had a two vessel cord. The only reason they know it now during an ultrasound is because of the added ability to use color. Our ultrasound tech said there is to much unfiltered info on the web about 2 vessel cords and some of it is outdated. Let us know how it goes.

Hi ccvb...I have a few questions for you if you don't mind answering... :)
How far along are you with your twins?
Does your baby b have two vessels? one vessel and one vein?
My baby b has one vessel and one vein. I have not been told to do the heart echo and am now really nervous because you and twinmomtobe have both gotten these tests done. I will definitely ask on Thursday when I go for my second level II, but am wondering if it is because of the one vein one vessel thing. Meaning that baby b for you and twinmomtobe do not have a vein, right? I am sorry about how confusing this post is, but I am just so nervous now. I really appreciate your help.

I'm right there with you. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. One of our girls has cord flow problems, so I know just how scary it is. Keep us updated.

I am 24 weeks along now. We found out at 19 weeks that baby b has a two vessel cord. "Normal" babies have a three vessel cord. The Dr. and the ultrasound tech were not to worried about her because she had two kidneys and they looked to be functioning properly. The biggest problems seem to be with their hearts and kidney function. Normal babies have less than a 1% chance of having a heart defect. With a two vessel cord the chance only goes up to 1%. They chose to give both girls an echocardiogram at 22 weeks. They said that they would be a bit bigger and it would be easier to see how things were developing.
We went to the ultrasound room like normal and they looked at baby a first and said everything looked perfect. Of course I was like could you please look at baby b first, but they have a system, baby a is always looked at first. Then they moved to baby b, I was so scared they would find something wrong, she verified that yes baby b did have a two vessel cord, this is were my lack of knowledge comes in, I do not know what the difference is between two and three vessel cords, I am sorry. I did a search on the internet and I never should have, the internet is a very scary place for moms to be. Like I said before it is unfiltered and Maternal Fetal Medicine told me that most of what I read was outdated and untrue. Anyway they did the echo and it was really cool. You could see the heartbeat on the screen, you know like on Er? Sounds stupid but only way to describe and you could hear it. Well it sounded wonderful, so much louder than in the dr.'s office. They were both fine. Those were the best words I could ever hear.
They are both the same size 1lb 2oz and growing perfectly.
Maybe they have already set you up for an echo and didn't tell you because like I said they did it at the same office in the same rooms.
Sorry this is so long.

Morrigan and Gideon were like that. She was big and he was small.. She was always up there in the %%% and He was on the low end. They will be ok!
The two vs 3 cord thing is that there is just one less of a a vessle.. not a big deal.. many babies are born all the time from it and they don't know until the cut the cord. It is found in twins more often because of all the u/s we have.
They are growing well. Everything will be ok! No worries!!!

I have no insight for you honey I have no experience with this but I am thinking of you your little poohs. One thing I can relate to is something going on with one of the babies while still in utero. It is so scary. My condition did resolve itself so I'm praying that the same happens for you.
