does anyone have a particular brand that they really like? we need one to block off our downstairs bathroom and the place we put our recycling and need it before we can set a wall mounted one up. they all seem to get mixed reviews on amazon so i'd love your input.
thanks.

I bought 3 simple ones that look like this:

when I was house training my labrador. They are not expensive and have worked just fine for us. I plan to use them for restricting room access when the babies start to crawl/walk as well.
I read the poor reviews on the BRU website, but I don't agree. They fit fine in the 6 different openings I've used them for in my house and worked in 2 different size doorways at my sisters when she was dog sitting. The 65 lb dog has leaned on them and never knocked one over.

I like the Ikea ones. We have three of them. I like them because the have a swing-open gate within the gate and they are expandable. (But then, I am a well-known Ikea wh0re. :D )

We have two of this one:

And we love them! They have a pedal to step on to open them so when you have two babies in your arms you don't need a hand to open them. We have recommended them to several friends who like them too. You can add extensions for wider doors or stairways.
