The day before yesterday (Friday) after supper I took the boys to the public swimming pool. And true to each one of their little personalities Cole was adventurous and squeeling with excitement. Caleb was very (cannot stress enough) very reluctant and held fast to my neck or arms almost the first hour. I am wondering should I continue taking them or will I completely traumatize Caleb??? He never did act like he was enjoying himself...his brother however screamed bloody murder when I took him out of the pool!!!

Sounds like you had as much fun as I had with my boys and their wading pool! They stood in the pool long enough to throw all of the toys out and then proceeded to run around the yard and eat sticks and grass.

Jeni, just keep taking the boys and slowly let Caleb get used to it. William being born in July was in the pool that first summer and he loved it from the moment we took him in (still does!). Zadie also loves the pool and has no fear. She dunks her head and was swimming with just floats last year. Wesley loves the water too. He sits in the little boat ring and just kicks back. Zane will NOT let go of my neck. It usually takes a few trips in the pool before he relaxs a bit and enjoys the experience. Caleb may never love it but he may tolerate it (especially on a hot day). :)

I've been taking my guys now since they were about 1 and I still have Christopher who is a dolphin in the water and Stephen who would rather not bother.

Probably not going to be doing the "swimming" thing again, at least not the rest of the summer.
