I'm 19 weeks now, and although I have seen my babies moving on the ultrasound, I don't think I've ever felt it. Every once in a while I wonder, "was that gas, or...?", but nothing really discernable as a definite "kick". A couple of things I've read say that movement is expected between weeks 18 and 22, and that by next week (week 20), I should be feeling them every day! This is my first pregnancy - I'm not sure if that makes a big difference (?)

When did you first feel your twins, and what did it feel like?

Thanks,
Kate

Hey! My name's Kate too!:D

Well, KATE:p , I felt my girls moving at 16 weeks. But I think that's really early. And I think I only felt it, because I would sit real still for the longest time with my hands on my belly concentrating on feeling my uterus. I was a little obsessed! I also know that women feel movements earlier when it's not their first pregnancy, although my twins were my first pregnancy. It totally depends on the person. Definitely don't worry just because you haven't felt them yet. Even if you don't feel them next week. If you're getting prenatal care, and your doctor's not worried, you don't need to worry.
Also, your babies are still pretty small right now. Those tiny flutters you feel that you think might be gas might very well be your babies. That's what it feels like at first. You probably already are feeling them.
And don't be too anxious... at the end of your pregnancy when they're jabbing you in the side and playing soccer with your bladder you won't even be able to remember NOT feeling them.

Definitely don't panic. I didn't feel them until after I hit 20 weeks. I'm not 24 weeks, and I can feel them much better now. In the last two weeks, they have been a lot more pronounced in their movements.

I was worried, too....but it depends on how they are positioned and where the placenta is in relation. You might not feel them for another week or so....I had read that 24 weeks is when you should feel them every day.

Every baby is different and every pregnancy book is different....that's for sure....

I am 16 weeks along and I think me and hubby felt them last night when we laid down for bed. I could feel it just to the left and below my belly button. It was like they were lightly bumping or rubbing up against my skin from the inside so it was definitely not a 'kick'. My hubby could feel it too. I think it is more gas when I feel stuff closer to my back side or much lower in my abdomen. This was our first time being pregnant and first time really feeling it so hopefully I feel it again to confirm that was really a baby and not something else. I have not 'felt' anything though on my right side of my belly button - hope to as well. Exciting stuff!!

I just wanted to add that what most moms feel first are the "flutters" or kinda like butterflies in your stomach!

Hi Kate,

I have a Kate...love the name! I felt my Kate and Gracie around 22 weeks. I remember waiting and waiting to feel something and around that time I started to feel little bubbles/twinges. It's quite exciting. I'm sure you'll feel them soon!

I'm 26 weeks and expecting twin girls. At 21 to 22 weeks I thought I was feeling movement, but wasn't sure--this too is my first pregnancy. By 23 weeks I could definetly feel movement. Now at 26 weeks, I feel them kicking and moving all the time. It gets more intense everyweek.
