I went into labor at 35 weeks and 3 days (10/30/03). It started about 7:15 a.m. I took my daughter to school and really thought if I went home and laid down that the contractions would stop but they didn't. They were coming 5 minutes apart and I waited 2 hours to call the doctor. He told me to come in and I had to wait for my husband to come get me which on the way he almost ran out of gas. We got to the hospital and I was 4 cm and contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes. They immediately broke Baby A's water and then I got an epidural. The first epidural did not work so they gave me another one which was wonderful. They took me to the OR to deliver just in case something went wrong. I had a hot spot in my stomach where I could feel the pain but I could not feel it when I pushed. I pushed twice and Peyton Nicole was born at 5:20 p.m. weighing 5 lbs 6oz and 18 1/2 inches long. Baby B's water broke and splattered on everyone and after 2 pushes Patrick McKewen was born at 5:26 p.m. weighing 4 lbs 14 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. I had no episotomy. I was an extremely easy delivery.

Peyton was fine but Patrick had fluid in his lungs. They said he was like a csection baby since his water broke right before he was born and the 2 pushes did not get the fluid out. He spent 6 days in the NICU to get his breathing and temperature under control. Leaving him at the hospital was the hardest thing I ever had to do.

They are both home now and doing great. They are bottle feeding every 4 hours which gives me a chance to nap and get things done.

CONGRATS!!!!!

I know how hard it is leaving a baby at the hospital. I had to leave both of mine for a month. My girl came home one week before my boy. I felt like I left him there twice.

Don't you just Love looking at them and thinking ow ... they came out of me!!!!

Really cute names!

Congrat again!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Peyton AND Patrick !!!

congtrats on your two bundles of joy. My two boys were born on July 15, 2003. They were also born at 35 weeks 3 days. But I had to have a C- section. Aaron weighed 5 lbs 9 oz. and Ethan weighed 4 lbs 2 oz. I just wanted you to know I understand how you felt about leaving your baby in the NICU. I cried most of the day I went home and had to leave my Ethan in the hospital. He stayed for about 2 weeks. He had trouble keeping his temperature and had trouble with his sucking reflex. We took a multiples class when I was pregnant during which we got to tour the NICU. I thought that would help prepare me. But when I saw my baby with an IV and a feeding tube, it broke my heart. But both are during great now. So I wish you the best of luck with your two angels. There is no greater joy than having twins.

Congrats Mom & Dad!! Glad everything went so easy for you and are now both at home. I've never had to leave a baby in the hospital so I can only imagine the pain. It's all behind you now thankfully...I love the names!
