Hello!

I am new to this web site and I'm so happy to have found you!

Are there any March Mommies out there? I am due March 4th, 2004. So far we know we are having one little girl and one little shy one!

I'm in Southern California - trying to breath with all these fires going on!

Would love to say hi to all!

Hugs,

Jennifer

Jennifer,
I am due Feb 11, but from what I gather in seeing when everyone else delivers, neither of us may be delivering in the month we think! Is March 4th 40 weeks?
I am almost 25 weeks now and on bedrest, my first goal is to make it to 30 weeks then take it one week at a time! Hope I make it at least into next year!
Welcome to this site, it offers GREAT support and information, especially on bedrest, it has become my constant companion!

Jennifer,

I'm due 3/17-so we're close in dates. I'm expecting 2 girls and have a 20 month son already. I'm on modified bedrest for now after 1 month on bedrest and a cerclage. Can I assume you're not on bedrest since you didn't mention it?

I live in Northern California, but have some family in So. Cal. I can only imagine the air quality right now with the big fire! Hang in there. Let's keep in touch as the weeks progress.....

twoinoven: Yes, March 4th is my 40-week point, which I probably won't get to. Mid-February would be more realistic, right? Thank you for the welcome!

Cheri: I would love to keep in touch! May I ask what cerclage (sp?) is? I am afraid to be put on bedrest. You would think that fear would slow me down, but I go to bed exhausted. I have a ten-year-old son who has me hopping, too.

I just finished registering at Babies R Us today. Now that was fun! My shower has been scheduled for December 13th. Do you have one planned yet?

Hope to chat soon,

Jennifer:)

Jennifer,

A cerclage is a procedure where Your cervix is sutured (stitched) closed. This is done for women who have an incompetent cervix-which can cause premature dilation and shortening of the cervix(AKA premature labor). I had an emergency cerclage performed during my first pregnancy when I was 22 weeks pregnant and I had already dilated to 1cm and my cervix was shortened. Ultimately I was put on bedrest for 1 month at home and then was hospitalized for 2 months and still delivered 6.5 weeks early. This time, we're hoping to avoid this same scenario by doing the cerclage early. I had it done at 12 weeks. Right now my Dr. has me on modified bedrest and I've been off of work since 7 weeks.
There's a whole thread on this site about cerclages......

Good for you for registering! It's amazing how much stuff there is for babies-almost overwhelming, but still it's great. My showers for my first son were after delivery because of my above complications. This one may be that way too. I'm fairly new to this area, so mostly have my work buddies here, but since my other friends are all out of town I travelled a ways for one of mine last time. In the end it was better because I felt well at both showers and everyone got to see the baby!

Hope you're feeling well. I've started to get heartburn and boy is it miserable....chewing tums like crazy.

Hi Jennifer,
This is so nice to be able to talk to twin mummies. My due date is 17th March but my Doctor says he won't let me go beyond 38 weeks, I will be over the moon if I manage to get that far!! I have four wee ones, Ciara 5yrs, Michael 4yrs, Liam 3yrs and Eilis 16mnths, so I am going to be very busy!! Have been feeling great so far, tired for a start but not so much now. I swim every week and have taken up Yoga which I recommend to anyone for strength and relaxation. Have you found out whether yours are boys or girls or one of each? I was told at 12 weeks ours were non-identical but then at 19weeks told they were identical so I am a bit confused. I am just going to wait and see when they are born and hopefully have two lovely healthy wee things, cos that's all that matters.
Nice to talk to you and keep well.

Cheri: I am right with you! Tums are my friends!

Liz: Welcome! I don't know if there is another March Mommies thread, but it is so nice to see that there are some of us out there!

Right now, we know that Baby B is a girl. Baby A had the umbilical cord between his/her legs, but we have an ultrasound tomorrow and hope to find out what we have in there!

My doctor also said I probably won't go more than 38 weeks, so I just may have Valentine babies. Fingers crossed that everything stays fine. I have a son who is ten and a step-daughter who is ten so people think we have twins already.

Where do you all live? I'm in San Bernardino county, only about 20 miles from some of the fires here in So. California. It's been very scary here and I hope it gets better soon. In the other direction, I'm about 15 miles from Disneyland where my son and I love to go!

Hope you have a nice night and hope to get to know all of you better!

Jennifer :)

Liz: I just re-read your post and saw that you will have six children and all little ones! Bless your heart! Wow! I told my husband if we have two girl twins that we will have to try again for a boy. He almost fainted on me.....

Jennifer

Hi-

I am due March 20 which will be 40 weeks. How are you feeling? I just got put on bedrest. I feel great but, I have a hernia and some veins. I have to go to a surgeon next week to see if I need surgery or if I can wait it out. I am 5'3 and was runner before getting pregnant. I think my adominal muscles were pretty tight and tore from the weight of the babies. This is my first day and I am going crazy.

I am having two boys and really excited about it. Please reply, I would love to hear how you are doing.

Hi Nikki,
Sorry to hear you are on bed rest, hopefully it won't be for too long, just try to stay positive and keep yourself occupied. Are you at home or in hospital? Get your man to pick you up loads of good books and try not to worry too much. I am due 17th March (40 weeks) but Doctor says he won't let me go beyond 38 weeks. I will be over the moon if I can manage to last that long. First was told we were having non-identical twins at 12 week scan, then identical at 19 week scan so am a bit confused by the whole thing. Do you know what you are having? Anyway hope you keep your chin up and don't get too bored. Have you any other children by the way?
Nice to hear from you and Take care

Hi there,

I am due in March as well. Would love to chat back and forth. I am new to the group and due March 14. I found out less than 2 weeks ago that I was having twins. Big shock. I have a 4 year old boy now. I live in Canada so hopefully it will not be a snow storm the day my babies come.

Would love to hear from you again.

I'm due April 1st, so I figure somewhere in March. These are our first babies and we just had an ultrasound - Boy and a Girl! We're extremely excited and I'm so glad that I found this messageboard.

Hi all!

Joann: Me too! I just found out today we are having boy and girl twins! We are so excited - can anything be more perfect? I have a 10-year old DS and a 10-year old step-DD so they are both so ecstatic that they both get their "own" baby!

I'm glad we are all finding each other! It will be so nice over the weeks to have pals who understand what we are going through week by week!

Hello all!

I'm glad to see some one started a new March thread. I know there was one earlier but it hasn't been very active. I guess now that we are all reaching 20 weeks there may be several new members who have just found out they are expecting twins.

I'm glad I've known for a while or else I would really be wondering why I'm so big. I have had two people in the last two days ask me when I am due because they were sure it was really soon.

We went to the doctor today for our ultra sound. We are having two girls - two sacs, one placenta? Baby A weighs 1lb1oz, baby B weighs 1lb. Baby A is head down but baby B is breech for now.

My due date is March 7. I have a two year old daughter and a one year old son. I have been really tired but I don't know how much of that has to do with chasing and lugging the kids around or how much of it has to do with the pregnancy.

Hope to hear from ya'll often.

-Sara

Sara: Congratulations on your two little girls! Our due dates are only three days apart - we'll definitely have to keep in touch with each other. I know that I am exhausted all the time and I'm not running after toddlers. It probably is time to slow down, as my dear hubby keeps telling me, but it's hard!

Hope to chat soon,

Jennifer

Hi Sara,
Congratulations to you. You sound like me having all these babies in quick succession. It's nice to know there are other maddies around. I have been told also that babies are on one placenta, two sacs and identical although at 12 weeks they thought they were non identical. Have they informed you about Twin to Twin Transfusion? Not that I want to worry you but we are at risk of this if babies are on one placenta - 15% chance of it occurring they say. Just make sure you get lots of scans to check the babies are growing ok. Nice to talk to you and hope to you hear from you soon. This is just lovely having other Twin Mums to talk to.
Take Care

Hi ladies!

I was scanning our posts and we have ladies from California (me), Colorado, Australia, and Canada! I just think this is awesome!

I had a question for all of you March Mommies, and anyone who can help up:

Do you plan on breastfeeding?

I do, definitely - even though I know it may be hard with two. I also would love to know what pump twin mommies have found successful so my DH can help out after awhile. I'll post that question on a different board.

Hope everyone is having a restful day. Think calming thoughts!

At my first appointment they did an ultra sound (9wks - I thought I was 12). They saw there were two sacs and didn't seem to be worried about the placentas. I wish they had looked more closely they may have been able to tell if there were two at that point.

With my second ultra sound they could only see one placenta but said there could be two just sitting next to each other, possible even fused together.

I am not seeing a perinatalogist, only my midwife at an OB/GYN practice. They are not worried about Twin to Twin Transfusion even though I am. They say that because the weights and sizes of the babies are so close there is nothing to worry about right now.

I don't know if they just haven't seen enough twins to worry or if they are right not to be worried.

I asked for a referal to a high risk doctor (for my peace of mind) they tried to make an appointment for me at 25 wks. Two problems:
1. From what I have read it may be too late at that point
2. My insurance won't cover the perinatalogist because they are out of network even though the practice with four drs. is the only one in our city (Chattanooga, TN)- my drs. office is trying to work on the insurance problem

Hi Sara,
It sounds as though we are in the same boat. I too have been worried about TTTS, the Doctor didn't tell me about it, I guess he didn't want to worry me unnecessarily. I am due to see the midwife at 22 weeks and am going to ask for another scan then just to make sure the babies are growing alright, as I don't see the Doctor until 26 weeks which I think is too long an interval between scans.
Anyway try not to worry and keep in touch.
