I am 8 wks and 2dys pregnant with my first pair of twins. However I have a reddish brown spotting happening and feeling cramps. I called the hospital and they said to relax it could be nothing, but it could also be the early stages of a miscarriage. Has anyone else experienced this and successfully had both their babies. Any advice would be apperciated. Help Im really scared. Thank You

I had spotting several times throughout my pregnancy. It is very common with multiple pregnancies, my OB feels it's due to the fast rate at which your uterus has to stretch. I delivered at 34 weeks due to problems with my kidneys, both babes were very healthy and will turn 2 at the end of this month. Do keep in touch with your doctor, drink plenty of water and try to take it easy.

I spotted while pregnant, and I was just sure it was miscarriage. I was 8 weeks pregnant. I called the Dr and she set up an emergency ultrsound to make sure everything was ok. This is when I found out I was having twins. They said this was normal with twins. The spotting stopped at about 10 or 11 weeks. My girls are perfectly healthy! I know you are worried. It is good to call your Dr. If all else fails, go to the ER and they will give you an ultrasound to make sure everything is ok and it will help to ease your mind.

Thank you so much for your replies. It helps to know that Im not the only one who experienced it. I hate that anyone would have to feel that fear, although, it does help others. I actually did think about going to the ER just so they would do an u/s and ease my mind, and maybe next time I will. Thanks again

i had some brownish spotting and i had menstrual-like cramps in my early pregnancy. the spotting can come from implantation bleeding. i'm in my 24th week now and things are looking good!
you should go for an u/s and see if you can get heartbeats. it is very reassuring.
good luck!

I had spotting at 9 weeks and was sure I was miscarrying. Midwives sent me in for ultrasound, twins! Then a week later I had a small 'retroplacental hemhorrage' which was a gush of blood and a clot half the size of a hard boiled egg. I was sure I had lost a baby. Went to ER and both were fine! I could not believe it. Anyway, they diagnosed placenta previa which corrected by I think week 16, now just had a cerclage but am now 23 weeks and babies are looking great. I know the worry is awful, I am praying for all three of you!

Welcome to the boards.
I know exactly how you are feeling. I have had spotting with my pregnancies and I just hate hearing those two words "threatened miscarriage". Try to stay positive, from what you have already read so many people spot in their pregnancies. It could be nothing. It's hard not to worry, I worried my whole pregnancy. You have come to the right place though. Hopefully we can answer anymore questions you have.
Congratulations!

What a wonderful place for support. My deepest thanks to all of you.
My only other true concern is my first pregnancy with my son, I was diagnoised with Interuterine growth retardation (IUGR). I was at the doctor 3 to 4 times a week. Monitoring everything, because he wasn't growing. The doctor told me that if my first pregnancy was like that all of them would be. However they also told I wouldn't carry him full term and even if I did he wouldn't weigh 5 lbs. And they told me something was going to be wrong with him but they couldn't tell me what. My son ended up weighing 6 lbs 8.2 oz. 18" long and at the age of 5 very healthy. Anyone ever experience that?? Also wondering if the two fetus will develop slower than normal because there are two in there?

my first one was growth retarted he was 4 10 at birth almost two weeks overdue He is PERFECT Well his sister was 5 10 the twins were 4 11 and 5 15. Sounds like your dr is full of S***. My first dr said I would have to abort my son cuz I just had an operation to re attach a finger and all the meds would have screwed him up. Well I moved to get a better dr. My son is perfect so is all the rest of my babies. Im only 5 feet tall I dont have big babies

Oh yes twins grow the same if not faster than a singleton

I never had any spotting or anything, but two of my 3 kids had IUGR. One was born at 41 weeks, and was 5 lbs 12 oz, and my second was born at 34 weeks, and was 3 lbs. 9 oz. My third was 36 weeks and was growing fine, but was small anyway...5 lbs 14 oz. They are now 16, 11, and 6, and are perfect as can be. Try not to worry...even if they're small, they will catch up.
Also, I hear, especially with twins, if they're small, sometimes the stess they suffer inside, toughens them up and they do better than singletons.
That's what I'm hoping for mine.
just keep smilin....they'll be fine!

make sure your dr checks your progesterone level. i think it might be a standard procedure but it won't hurt to ask. mine was low at 6 weeks and i spotted and even had a little breakthrough bleeding. i thought i was going to lose (at the time a baby) my boys. i took med up to 12 weeks and had no trouble since.

I had spotting too from 6 weeks to 11 weeks when I bled so heavily that I was sure I was going to die along with my babies. Needless to say my boys are here and doing great. I know that people will tell you not to worry and that is impossible but try to worry as little as possible. ;)
