Help! We are desperate! For some reason, we just cannot think of a name that we like for a boy. We are having b/g twins and I'm almost 36 weeks.
We have been settled for months now on the girls name which is going to be Eliana (pronounced L-EE-ON-UH), and we will probably call her Ellie later on....
Now, here are the names we have tossed around for the boy.....
Ryan
Ethan
Evan
Tyson
Just wanted to see what ya'll thought would go best with the girls name, one of us likes Ryan then Ethan for 1st and 2nd choice and the other one likes Evan and Tyson! Neither of us are crazy about any of the names, don't know why this boy is so hard to name, but if you would tell us what your #1 pick is, and then add an idea if you have another name you think would be good. We feel soooooooooo lame! The poor baby doesn' have a name yet and we want it to be just right!!! And time is not on our side at this point!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your input!

I like Ethan. I also like the name Elijah. If I'd had my way my boys would have been Ethan & Elijah but DH's family has a tradition of all the boys for the last 200 years having the initals JMD so my names were vetoed. I personally like twins having the same inital but a lot of people don't. I'm sure whatever name you chose it will be perfect for your son.
Good Luck!

My favorite is Ethan. You can look in my signature to see why. :) Dh loved that name but I wasn't wild about it. I decided I did like it enough though and I didn't have any better ideas, so we went with it. Now I can't imagine him by any other name. :) Good luck in your decision. You're right, it's a big one!! And good luck with your upcoming delivery. :)

Ethan! Of course, I am biased too...
Other options that could work with Eliana: Nathaniel, Alexander...I'll give Elijah a vote, too. One word of caution, Ethan was the #5 baby name for boys in 2002 so it may be a little played out. Yell out "Ethan!" at Chuck E. Cheese in a few years and a crowd may show up...

you feel about names, Im 34 weeks and we still havent made a final decision about either the boy or girl. I like Ethan as well, but it is getting a bit trendy, at least here in california. However, I think it sounds really cute with Eliana. I would choose Evan next. Good luck and let us know.
Ryan is a brave hero's name. I lost my brother Capt Ryan Anthony Beaupre USMC in the first casualty of the Operation Iraqi Freedom when his helicopter crashed. I think your son would be honored to have the same name as a true american hero. He was a wonderful brother and great person too.
I really like Ellie!

I like Evan..it was one of my top boys names when I was pregnant :D

Evan... of course I am biased as well. Our twin boys will be named Eric Martin and Evan Jon.. :)
I liked Ethan too but I have an ex-boyfriend who has a son by that name so......
Baby books helped a lot. Did you know that the Gaelic form of Evan is Jon??? I think one of my little ones will end up being called Jon-Jon by his Auntie... *sigh* Oh well...
Good luck and you'll probably change your minds a thousand times!!

If we would have had boys - Evan would have been one of their names.
I also like the sound of Ellie and Evan. It has a pleasant ring to it.
Just my opinion - though

Thank you *SO MUCH* to everyone who has given us an opinion so far! It really has helped. We are going to see if more "votes" come in and then make a decision. I think after reading the posts so far, Tyson is probably out! Ethan and Evan look neck in neck and we did like the idea of having both names start with the same letter, however, after reading Kari's post... Ryan is still in there also!
Kari- I am so sorry for your loss of your brother. I'm sure it must still be very difficult for you and your family. I remember seeing you on the news when it happened. (What a small world, I live in the Chicago area (extreme SW suburb) so we are in the same state.) I am truly grateful for all the service men and women who put their lives on the line every day for us. I must say that Ryan was my first choice, and my dh was home tonight when we checked in to see what everyone thought. He kept scrolling back down and reading your post saying "wow". I'm not sure what we'll decide, but we'll definitely let everyone know, and hopefully soon! ( BTW- Anthony is also my oldest sons middle name! And he wants to be in the Air Force when he's old enough, he's always had an obsession with airplanes as his grandpa is a crop-duster and his great grandfather was a pilot in WWII.) How strange that you should be on this message board and have something in common to share with me. Thank you and God bless you and your family!
We'll be keeping our eye on the posts and thanks again to everyone! Kathrine (and dh Tad!)

Evan :) :) But then again, I am biased....lol.. Ironically my dh picked out Evan, I really was not sold on it, I wanted Matthew. As they were wheeling me in or my c-section dh said it would fine if we named him Matthew. I thought about it while they prepped me and then decided to stick with Evan (I knew my dh really liked the name) and now I am really glad I did. I also like the sound of it with Ellie. Can't wait to hear the final decision.

Ryan.. such a cute boys name. If I were having a boy, it would be my first or middle name.

Evan and Ethan were both on my initial list of boy names. My husband didn't like them though, so I kept looking. They are VERY poular/common names right now though, and I don't know if you mind that. Some people don't. In my opinion: Ellie is not so common a name. Its really cute and unique. I would suggest you choose a boys name that is just as individual.
I also don't like same letter twin names, as you can see by the names I've chosen for my (probably identical) boys. But you're having a boy and girl, so its not the same issue I guess.
I also had one name picked out for months and couldn't decide on a second. One day I was watching TV and heard the name Caleb and something clicked. So keep your ears open, and good luck. ;)

I agree with what another mom posted, Eliana is not a common name so I would lean towards a name that is not common for your son too. I really like Elijah... Eli for short. Eli and Ellie is pretty cute... maybe too similar...but not common names at all.
I do like Evan though!

I like Ryan!
I also just took a twins class which was taught by an identical twin (her name is Eileen and her twins is Elaine) who is married to a fraternal twin. The woman has a PhD, does therapy and runs a twins-based organization and teaches the class from the parenting and twins perspective. One of the first things she covered was to NOT name twins (even boy/girl) with rhyming, matching or names that begin with the same letter. As a twin she hated it and also gets this as feedback from other twins she interviews and treats therapeutically who dislike it as well. I found this interesting as my husband and I had planned on giving our babies both "J" names but have since changed our minds!

Well I am certainly partial to Evan as that is my oldest son's name. Ethan was also high on our list but Evan is much more unusual. He is almost six and we have only run into one other child his age named Evan.
However, on the subject of having the names start with the same letter... I have been told not to do that by all of my friends who are mom's of multiples. They say it is difficult through school etc. because they have the same birthdates and initials. I had been really set on naming my twins with the same initials until then (btw, I love Ellie).
Now you have even more to think about!
We are being surprised at the genders of our twins. The names we have chosen are:
Anna Lee
Lucy Elizabeth
and
Gavin Michael
Jeremy Drake
For one of each we will go with Lucy and Gavin as we like the way they sound together.
Good luck deciding!

Hmmm... guess all of my girls will have problems since both their first and middle names end in the 'ah' sound. Personnally, we like it and hope that they grow to like it as well. But, we haven't had too much trouble mixing up the girls names.
Leah Rafaela
Ella Rosa
Mara Allegra
Regarding having the first letter the same, a lot of families do that even those without twins... I remember one family of 5 boys all beginning with a D - duane, derrick, dean, dwight, dillan... so that they would have the same initials as their father (same middle name). I always thought is was kind of nice... but could be confusing for mulitples.

We've FINALLY decided!!! Thanks to everyone who gave us their opinion!!
The boy will be Evan Cole, and of course, we already had the girls name which is Eliana Mae. Just in the nick of time I'd say, my c-section is This Friday the 26th!!!
Thought ya'll would like to know our decision! Thanks again

We'll be thinking of you and little Ellie and Evan tomorrow.
I was going to vote for Evan since it is kind of like Eve (our daughter's name)... so I'm biased. We call her Evie.

I definitely like Ethan! That is my son's name. Also I think it's neat that you are going to call your daughter Ellie. We call one of our daughters that and I don't hear it a lot!
Congrats! I will be thinking of you! How great to be able to hold them, kiss them and luv them up today!!!!!! The names are great!
Happy for you! Kari

Good choices for the names...
We almost went with Ryan also but decided against it because (a) it is extremely popular and (b) it has the potential to become the next trendy girls name. I know lots of people who think Ryan is a cute girls name.... ugh.
