I am still a newbie but I wanted to share our big news. Our boys were not due until 10/16 but small health issues brought them to us earlier!
Jamie Lynn and Jackson Riley were born via C-section Sunday, 8/10/03 at 8:03 and 8:04 pm. Jackson's (baby b) fluid was very low and was not getting any better with 2 wks of hospital stay and an amnio reduction. So crunch time, decision was made to take them at 30 wks and 3 days! Jamie weighed 3.7lbs/16inches and Jackson was 2.14lbs and 15 3/4 inches.
They are still in the NICU but improving everyday! I was very fortunate to have been able to have 2 rounds of steroids to strengthen their little lungs. As of yesterday, (1wk old) they are both breathing on their own, no oxygen and docs have discontinued any antibotics! Jamie weighs 3.6lbs(was down to 3.3lbs) and Jackson is up to 3lbs! Both are eating very well, so just a matter of time! They are what they consider feed and grow babies! They have to be at least 4lbs before I can bring them home. (lungs healthy and eating on their own w/nipple)
We are very fortunate and so very thankful. I had wonderful prenatal care with my OB and Peri docs!
This board helped answer some of my questions early on and I wanted to say thanks. This is a wonderful place. Hope all mommies/daddies and babies are doing well!

amy, congratulations on your boys! It sounds like they're doing great, in spite of insisting on joining the outside world earlier than you expected! Here's to their continued rapid progress and a job well done by mom!

Congratulations on your twins!!! Sounds like they are doing good, they just need to grow. Actually, I think that's good weights for delivering at 30 weeks. Good job!

That is great news. We had our twins at 31 weeks but w/o the steriods. They just came too soon, and unexpectedly, to be able to do that. It sounds like they have wonderful weights. Hope they are good little "growers and feeders" for you while they are in the hospital. Hope they are home soon. Congratz.

Thank you so much for your caring words! As a matter of fact the boys are doing very well! As of today they are both off of any IV's and eating very good. Jamie is taking 37cc of breast milk and Jackson is taking 32 cc. Not to bad considering a little over a week ago they were at 3cc and 5cc! They are starting to gain weight, Jamie is back up to 3.7lbs and Jackson is at 3.1lbs! Everyday it seems we get to be encouraged! We are so very thankful. :)

Rest- definitely what I have been doing the last few days, I ran out of gas around Tuesday. A nurse told my hubby that I really needed to make sure I got plenty of rest, because if these boys kept going this way they won't be there much longer. We can only hope and pray! Since I am not able to drive yet, I can only go in the evenings to visit with my hubby, we have been able to hold them every night while they eat. That is by far the most beautiful feeling in the world! Thanks again!!! Take care!
