Well, my wife developed PIH at about 35 wks. By 36 wks, she was spilling +2 protein and her vision was getting spotty. On Sat, Aug 2, she didn't feel right at all, so we tried to sleep a little and arrived at the hospital around 6:30 Sun morning. She was now at +3 protein and her blood pressure was increasing. Since the babies looked good and she was a day short of 37 wks, the on-call dr chose to do a c-section that morning.
At 10:54 and 10:56 am, Seth (5 lbs 3 oz, 19.5 in) and Davyn (5 lbs 11 oz, 19.5 in) were born. They had no trouble breathing or eating and spent no time in the NICU.
The boys did, however, spend significant time in the nursery as my wife had developed pre-eclampsia. She was put on magnesium sulfate Monday morning and also had to be given 2 units of blood. The OB was concerned about her vision (it was worse now), so she called a neurologist, who recommended an MRI. She had an MRI that same day (came back okay). Needless to say, it was a long and scary day for all of us.
We all came home Thursday. Her blood pressure is now under control and her vision is improving daily. I just thank God for the excellent care she received in the hospital.
The boys are doing great, eating just once between midnight and 8 am and rarely fussing. Their pics are at the link below ...
