Hi everyone,
I was just curious if any of you have or do have an occasional drink.
I have indulged in an occasional beer or glass of wine. I do it after I feed the boys, and put them to bed and after I have pumped. So It's typically four- five hours before I pump or feed again.
I've read so many conflicting things on this issue. I was curious what everyone else thought.
In Ireland, I've read that the drs recommend Guiness for bf moms.

Once in a long while I'll have a drink. I don't consider it a big deal. Fact is, I rarely have time to have one!

my dr said that an occassional drink is fine - even a drink before a feeding.
enjoy.

I also have a glass of wine about once a week. I have heard that one beer a day can help increase your milk!?! But I prefer wine. I am the same (sullytwinboys) I have a glass after I put them to bed they do not wake for about six hours. My doctor even said I could have a glass of wine now and then when I was pregnant. I did not dare I was too afraid.

I've heard the same thing abt beer increasing milk proudction!
I drink a glass or two w/ dinner. altho some alcohol gets thru, I don't think it's the same as when you're pregnant; it's not a direct line of tequila shots straight to your baby or anything! I would/do stay away from becoming raging drunk--but then again when was the last time I did that anyway, spring break 1991?

I have one glass of wine or a beer with dinner most nights. My childbirth educator said that the alcohol helps with the let-down reflex. And I've read the same thing about beer increasing milk supply (it said that non-alcoholic beer has same effect, I can't remember where I read this).
That's enuf endorsement for me to have a tipple now & then :)
I think it's the brewer's yeast in the beer that actually increases the supply, so that's why the non-alcoholic beer would work.
I don't drink at all--hate the taste--but I am sure a drink here and there won't do any harm!
