Hi!! My name is Jennifer and I'm 23 and 22w2d with boy/boy twins. I did not take any kind of fertility drugs or anything to get pregnant. Dr's told me I may not get pregnant due to pelvic congestion. My husband also did not want just one kid. When he found out that I only had one chance he gave in. We tried for two months. On or around Feb 7-14, 2003 I got pregnant twice in this time frame. The pregnacy are a week apart. Michael and Alex will be born somewhere around 9/23/2003.
When I had my first U/S at 11 weeks we were told that we were having twins. My husband was in a great state of shock. I was thrilled because not only had god blessed me with one baby but two. My husband i really excited now because he is going to get his two children. (Not only children but boys at that). When they done my first u/s the fluid on baby B was low. I really had to take it easy from the beginning.
When I reached 15 weeks I started to leak Amniotic Fluid or so they thought. I went in the hospital for 3 days and had Antibiotics thru IV. They sent me home on complete bedrest. I did what the Dr. said for two weeks. When i went for my second week check up the fluid had come back up. Dr took me off bedrest.
At 19 weeks I gushed blood and fluid so the Dr. put back on bedrest. I have been on bedrest for 2 wks now and in 2wks I go back to the Dr. and he wants to do a amnio. test to see if my water has broke or what is going on. If my water has broke then I will go in the hospital at 24wks until the remainder of my preg.
Has anyone else out there had this problem? If so I would really like to know how things went and if the babies were born early.

I did not have those problems, and so I can not offer any advice. However I wanted to welcome you to the boards and say congrats on your pregnancy. Take it easy now while you can, and let them get as big and healthy as possible. Trust me, you will be plenty busy once your little angels arrive!

I don't really have any answers to your questions because I am in a similar situation. My name is Heather and I am 23 weeks pregnant wit g/g twins. I was put on bed rest 3 weeks ago because baby b's fluid is very low. They have determined that mine is because of poor placement of the cord into the placenta, and baby b is not getting as much nutrients and oxygen. Baby b is therefore much smaller than A. The doctor told us there is basically nothing they can do to remedy this, but wait. I go back to the dr. in two weeks also and any time after that if Baby B is in distress they will decide to deliver the babies.
I have not posted to this board frequently, even though I have been reading since I found out I was having twins at 10 weeks. It is a great place for information.
I hope everything goes well with your next apt. I guess for now we just have to stay positive and rest.

How did you find out what the reason is that the fluid is low. Did they do any kind of special test.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. God has sure blessed you! I am sorry I don't have an answer to your question regarding amniotic fluid. I do know that there is a test they can do to see if you are leaking amniotic fluid. They though that I was. The test came back negative though.
Good luck to you!

I am also sorry to hear that from both ladies. Even though I had three sets of twins I never had any problems. Although I have heard of tings like that and all I can say is that thoes babies seem to have the same risks of any other babie born that early you know sensitive lungs ect but babies are so incredibley strong even though they are so small. So no matter how bad it gets never give up the best hope you got. I truely feel for you ladies. If you ever want to talk please e-mail me at twinmom3xs@shaw.ca I always love the questions.
Keep thoes feet up that is very important O.K.!!!!!
Sincerely Cyndi twinmom3xs

I have not had any special tests. When they did the level II ultrasound the dr could see the placenta and the placement of the cords. Also, they put a dopler on both babies cords to measure the blood flow. Baby B's is not as strong. Very simply put by my dr it is like A is getting 5 meals a day and B is getting 3 meals a day. When the baby gets less blood flow from the placenta it produces less amniotic fluid. Also on the ultra sound we could see the membrane of the sac and instead of looking like a balloon (like it is suppose to) it looks like saran wrap. around the front of baby B. On your ultra sound can you see the sacs that they are in. My dr measured the fluid on the ultra sound and told us each baby had to have 2 cm or they may become distressed. Thank God right now we are still good with that. I have not had amnio, and to be honest it scares me a little. I wish you the best of luck with that and hope that it brings good news.
I am not sure if any of this is helping, but I know how it feels to anxiously await each dr apt. Two weeks seems to go by so slow sometimes.
I believe we are truley blessed and remain hopeful.
How is your bedrest going? This was difficult for me at first because I feel better now than I have my whole pregnancy (had severe morning sickness the first 3 months,) hospitalized and everything. At this point though I am glad to be at home and not in the hospital for the duration.
I wish you well with everything and remain hopefull.

Yes I have thought of names for the boys. My husbands name is Michael Shannon and My brothers name is William JT. So we decided to name them Michael Brent and William Alexander. We will call them Michael and Alex.

You sound excatly like me. I also just started feeling better just recently. I had severe morning sickness the first three months too. On my U/S the babies membrane was really close to his face. I have actually lost fluid on both of my babies. Michael who is the smaller one has 5.7cm and Alex the bigger one has 12cm. I am really scared about the Amnio. too, but I really want to know if it is actually fluid or something else. I have talked to several people and they say that it is not as bad as you would think it would be. I really hope you can carry your twins longer. Because my mom teaches a neonatal nurse's daughter. She said that if you can at least carry them to 30 weeks they will be alot healthier than if you carry only 25-29 weeks. Good Luck and god bless.

Hi
My name is wendy and my first set of twins were born 4/00 and I had some of the same issues, but my boys were fine and 6.5 and 6.10 lbs. I am pregnant with a second set of twins now, due late nov (we find out he sexes in a week). Two sets of twins and no drugs.
I had bleeding and spotting for the first 16 weeks of the first pregnancy probably due to low progesterone, so when we got pregnant this time the doctor put me on progesterone at week 4 day 1. I only had a little spotting this time until week 11 and as I went in for another ultrasound I gushed blood through my clothes. But so far everything is fine, and I am sure everything is fine with you. I spent 10 weeks on bedrest the first time, week 8 to 18 and was not able to return to work.
This time has been much better.
You are 22 weeks! you only have to get to 36 weeks, so you are more than half way there!!!
My first set came a month early, and everything is fine with them, so i am shooting for 36 weeks again.
Good luck and god bless.
wendy
