Hi,

I'm new to this board and am currently 23wks with b/g twins and on bedrest (due to a cerclage placed at 20wks). I'm also fairly new to So. Calif. having moved here a few months ago and am wondering if there are any other Southern Calif. twin moms to be here?

Hi Pickle. I am not really a southern cal. mom, I am more of an inbetween mom. We live in the valley, so it's hard to determine wheather we are southern or northern. Where did you move from? You will love this board! It is wonderful to see so many other women going through the same feeling and pains as you. I am 35 weeks 1 day and I am supposed to have my girls by c-section on July 14th. Do you know the sexes of your babies yet?

Hi everyone, I am currently 23 weeks pregnant with boy/gorl twins due in October (20th) but I figure it will be sometime before then. I am originally from Colorado but have been here for many years. So far my pregnancy is going well, just tired but no bed rest yet (knock on wood) I also have a 3 year old little boy so I keep busy with him. I was teaching part time but at 12 weeks I resigned for a number of reasons, mainly I was just soo sick I could barely function. Pickle where in Southern Cali are you at? I noticed another mom to be in orange county, where exactly? Im near Tustin if your familiar with that. Anyway hope all is well and take care of yourselves and those babies.

Hi Chrissy, i know Tustin, not well but i know the market place there cos i love shopping. lol.
I have just moved from costa mesa to aliso viejo so im not that far away from you!!!!
W'ell have to keep intouch! The annoying thing is, i dont drive, how stupid was i when i decided that one, it doesnt matter so much in england but in california nobody walks anywhere.
Have you been on the october thread yet? You are due 2 weeks after me, how exciting.

I moved from San Francisco to LA in Feb where we lived in a temporary corporate housing apartment until we bought our home. We just moved into our new home 3 wks ago (tues.) and am now living in Manhattan Beach. The funny thing is since I'm on bedrest, I have yet to be out and about or explore my new town!

Bethany...my twins are boy/girl.

Peggy...that must be so difficult for you to be so far from your family right now. Have they or will they come for a visit after your babies are born?

Chrissy...We have the same 40wk due date. My Peri is telling me to expect to go (in labor or not) between 9/22-9/29.

My husband and I also strongly considered buying in Orange Co. (we looked in Newport) but my Peri is at Cedars-Sinai and I didn't want to have to switch.

Wow its nice to see so many of us so close by

Helena-I was just at the tustin Marketplace today, I spend a lot of time and $$$ there. Im sorry to hear you dont drive, that must get frustrating, does your DH drive? Southern Cali is not the best walking town-maybe if you are by the beach but otherwise things are so spread out. Where are you planning on delivering? Im actually in the city of Orange so Im going to St Joesphs. I had my last one at home so this is a very different experience for me. Talk soon and keep in touch

Pickle-I lived in Marina Del Rey until I got married so I spent lots of time in Manhattan, mostly at the bars :) But that has certainly changed. My old roommate was a labor and delivery nurse at Cedars until she became a midwife. I bet she knows your DR. Im sorry you cant get out and enjoy the nice weather and go and see the sights, but when those babies are born it will all be worth it. Do you have names picked out yet? It will be interesting to see how far we make it since we have the same EDD. For some reason I have Oct. 1st as my goal. Stay well and write anytime

Hello all,

I don't currently live in So. Cal but I lived in Brea about 5 years ago and went to school at UCI so I KNOW the Tustin Marketplace. I still have family over there. I miss the weather there!! Especially in the summer months since now I'm living in a suburb of Houston Texas. Very Very HOT!!!! AND HUMID!!!

I hope all is going well with your pregnancies. I'll be 33 weeks on Saturday and am counting down the days. I just hope the babies will stay in my belly long enough.

Anyways, sorry to barge in on you guys, but I just wanted to reminisce with you all.

Chrissy,

We don't have definitive names yet and my husband and I can't seem to agree on anything and it is so hard to come up with essentially 4 names when you factor in middle names! Any names for your little ones yet?

Funny that you used to live in Marina Del Rey as our corporate housing was an LA address, but located just across the street from the Marina Del Rey marketplace shopping area! I already miss walking across the street for ChinChin's Chinese Chicken Salad! Also, I'm sure your former roommate would know my doctor (Hobel) as he's been there forever and seems to be very well-liked by all the staff members.

Grace, I used to live in Chicago for a few years so I can appreciate those hot and humid summers. You will be happy to know that with the exception of the last few days we've been having June Gloom here and not nice, sunny weather.

Hi everyone! Oh my goodness it's going to be hot today. It is supposed to be about 108 where I live today! Sounds like loads of fun. Me and my husband hate where we live due to the air quality. My 6 year old suffers from asthma (he's growing out of it though) and we worry about the girls. What is the air quality like where you all live? We would like to move but stay in California.

Pickle~ That is great that you are having boy/girl twins. Me and my husband just knew that was what we were going to have. When we were told they were both girls we just looked at each other like WHAT!! I can't wait to see them. 2 weeks and 2 days!!!

How is everyone doing with this hot weather?

HI Chrissy, luckily my husband does drive but unluckily he works so it drives me mad. Actually thats the reason we moved from CM to AV, there are more places to walk around here, although i am too uncomfortable now and its too hot, my ankles just swell as soon as i go outside.
I am delivering at the hoag in newport beach, everyone tells me its good, i havent toured it yet but i guess i will. Quite nervous as i have never been in hospital before, but i guess there's no point in worrying as they have to come out.
Pickle, we dont have any names either, well thats a lie, we have lots of names but cant agree on the same ones!!!
I want Isabella, DH wants Megan, we did kind of agree on Naomi last night but i wont hold my breath, and one of them is going to be named Emily Madison, definitely, i think!!! LOL
Its so hard. I am actually not going to decide until i see them, my DH thinks i am wierd.
Hows your bedrest going? Hope you are not getting too down with it all, at least you have some great people to talk to on the BR thread who share in the experience.
Take care all

keep posting!

Bethany...What valley do you live in San Fernando? From my isolated little world of bedrest at the beach, I had no idea that it was actually that hot somewhere down here today! Yikes, stay cool! Since I'm relatively close to the ocean (about 13 blocks) my air quality should be nice all the time. I don't do so well in hot weather and have asthma, so I can understand your wanting to move.

Helena...Someone that works with my husband delivered at hoag and loved it there. I'm sorry that you, too, aren't getting out much these days, but better to stay inside where its nice and cool. I love the name Emily, especially since it is my God Daughters name (she is Emily Odette and we call her Emmy or Miss Em).

How often is everyone being monitored via u/s these days?

Pickle~ I live in the San Joaquin Valley. We live between Bakersfield and Fresno. It was sucky hot today and my suburban needs it's air conditioner charged! :( I stayed inside for most of the day! I would love to live close to the beach! My doctor has monitored me by ultrasound at every visit.

Hi Ladies - just found this thread!
I'm in Thousand Oaks and we just found out on 6/18 that I'm pregnant with twin boys!
I'm new to the site - but will hopefully be spending more time here - since I need all the advice I can get!

I noticed one of you said you love shopping. Have you been to The Shops at Mission Viego? It's an incredible mall. They have several kids clothing stores, a Pottery Barn Kids and the Cheesecake Factory!

When I was pregnant with the girls I used to meet my mom once a week at the Cheesecake Factory, because it was (roughly) halfway between San Diego and Long Beach. Even after the girls were born, we met there several times.

Just a suggestion!

Hi So. Cal ladies!

Question for you:
I live in Thousand Oaks and work in the San Fernando Valley -
can any of you that are nearby, tell me what hospital you will be using? Do you have any OB/Gyn recommendations?

I really like my Dr's office, but my husband and I were a bit concerned that they do not have much experience with multiples (The nurse told me that they do *maybe* 1 a year). We would like to investigate other practices or doctors that specialize in high risk pregnancies.

The current hospital I'm set up with is West Hills, but we're willing to check out Tarzana/Encino, Northridge, or any other recommended hospital that wouldn't be too far.

Any help or suggestions would be GREAT!! Thanks!
