Does anyone have the problem of spit up after feeding solids?

I usually let my little ones play after food. I put them on the ground with toys and they usually end up on their bellies. It is pretty common that they spit up when I do this. Should I be burping them after solids? Also should I keep them upright for a while after eating before letting them play? I feel like I am washing blanket all the time!

There's not much that can be done until they're sitting up on their own for the spitting up. I would burp them, when I burp the girls after solids, I always get a belch out of each one. Other than that, mine spit up anyway. So have fun washing blankets every 2 seconds, I do :snicker:

Mine are the spit up kings!!! I keep mentioning it to the dr, but she says they are fine... I don't burp them anymore. they are mobile enough now that they can bring it up on their own. I must add, though, that in the past couple days, there hasn't been as much spit up as usual!:yippee:

I could have written this exactly as well! Mine usually get a bottle after solids but I do find I sometimes have to burp them after solids. Mine always play after food too. I gave up on the blanket because I was sick of washing it and now I use the foam mat that is 2' X 2' squares. This way all I have to do is sponge it up. It looks stupid in my living room but I've had it for like 2 weeks and it is soo much better and doesn't bunch up constantly. I also always keep a junky looking cloth bib on the kids for at least an hour after eating to avoid stained clothes.

Oh and the best advice of what I do is that I give them a green veggie at breakfast(easily comes out of cloth) and the more staining oranges get given at dinnertime because right after is bath time. I also order the food as per color too. So the veggie is the most colorful and is the first food given..Then I give something mixed with oatmeal or yogurt (white) ..I am more likely to mix the more colorful fruits or veggies into it to sort of dissipate the color..lol. Lastly, the dessert fruit at breakfast is something nonstaining like applesauce or pears. So this way if they mainly spit up the last thing they ate it doesn't stain too badly. Sounds nuts but I haven't gotten any clothing stains since I do it this way.

LOL I just noticed the siggy pic is when I used to use the picnic blanket but I got soo grossed out by the couple of orange stains on there from before I knew better on how to avoid it. Mats are much better.. I got them at BJ"s

I'm glad I am not the only one with this problem.

I am definitely going to invest in some foam mats. I don't think there is a BJs in my area so I guess I will get it on Amazon. Does any other place sell them for a good price?

Get the ones that are plain solid bocks, not the ones with ABC's and 1-2-3's. The girls LOVE them, and love playing with the numbers and letters, but they are constant pukers and the puke leaks right through the cracks! As you all know, I'm crazy nuts about having things clean and perfect, and my carpet is pretty much going to be ruined by the time they're 1. I'm already saving for new carpet. Ugh!

Thanks for the tip Ladybug! I know what you mean. My carpet is well on it's way to destruction!
