Yari pretty much has the sitting by himself thing down but he is also pulling up on things. Yas on the other hand is not sitting by herself for long periods. She'll do it for a little while.:nope:

Mine ara almost 8 months and they are STILL not sitting up. They will sit if I put them that way but they still fall backward etc...
They are trying to crawl though.

Nope...not yet. Mine are just over 6.5 months and Aiden is getting the hang of sitting when we put him in that position. That just happened in the last 3 days or so - all of a sudden. Austin still leans back a lot when we try to get him to sit. So no, not yet but getting closer!!!

Mine are younger, and we're still working on it. Their record so far is 2 seconds or so before they start falling. Lisa pushes her legs and falls backward, Chris forward (I catch them of course). They can sit for a while if we support their lower back though.

Mine are 7 mo now and both really good sitters. At their 6 mo appt they were starting but were still pretty tipsy. My ped said they would get it soon. Sure enough, not long after that Breydon could sit for long periods of time. Bethany took a little longer, but that was because she prefers to roll around. She knows how to comfortably tip over and roll away, and has even pushed herself up to sitting a couple of times. She's also the one rocking on her knees and thinking about crawling. :proud:

I'm with Jennie. At 8 months, Skyler sits up forever, and prefers to be that way, but I have to put her there. Sydney still doesn't sit so well. She can, but just chooses to fall over and play on her tummy. Neither one can get into the position on their own.

Neither of my boys are sitting on their own yet. Lucas can stay in the tripod position for a little while if we sit him up and Logan can sit in the tripod position for only a second of 2 before he topples over. Both roll around and make crawling-like movements, but neither crawl yet either. I'm sure they'll all get there before we know it and we'll be wishing they were stationary again. :snicker:

Mine are 8 months old now and both can sit on their own. Madison's been a good sitter for quite some time now but Madilyn just recently figured out how to do it herself. I think it just depends on the babies and when they feel like it.

Both of my guys are good sitters when you put them in that position but they still can't sit on their own. They are army crawling all over the place.

Both of mine sit great which has made our lives so much easier--my son has been sitting since 5 months and my daughter since 6 months, roughly for 7 weeks and 3 weeks respectively. My son has been trying to figure out the mechanics of sitting on his own for a couple weeks now and is very close. and it seems that my daughter is waiting for him to figure it out so she can simply copy him!

Mine can sit that way if we put them into the sitting position. Daniel doesn't quite get though that if he jerks the wrong way he is going to knock his head into something. My kids are slow on the movement thing though. Rose has decent balance sitting up though and can do it for long periods.

I am SO relieved to hear you say that. I was really beginning to worry. Today Jake sat up and played for a long time, but Joe has things to do and wants to scoot.

This is the same situation I have here:) Evan is the sitter, and Aiden prefers his belly. They just started getting into a semi sitting position by themselves (they are upright, but lean on one arm for support), otherwise I still have to put them in a full sitting position myself.

Were just missing the walking here. Both of mine sit up and started doing it pretty good at 6 months. They crawl, pull themselves up and this past week they learned to sit up by themselves from crawling. I sure those babies that would just lay and look up at the toys on their playmat.
