So Rose can say mama, dada, and hi... Daniel makes all sorts of goose honking, pterodactyl and other various dinosaur type sounds. Anyone else noticing a difference between the sexes? How are the rest of the boys out there doing?

Bethany is my talker. She has a lot more variety in her babbling. Breydon is noisy, but in a completely different way--complaining, growling, squealing, cooing, but no consonant practice.

Well, I don't have a girl to compare to, but on the boys side mine always seem a little behind...not behind, but just doing the actual "talking" at a slower pace. I know DS was older before he started really "saying" anything. And the twins are the same. I've really started saying "mama" and "dada" to the twins and they focus on me...Austin looks like he's close to trying...but AIden just smiles and goes back to screeching!! Austin has really figured out raspberries lately, so he's focused on that, while Aiden has learned how to make louder noises, so that's focus.

Yes a huge difference. Aiden grunts and squeals. Olivia says mama, dada, Hi bye. She can wave, clap, and give kisses when asked, but Aiden can climb anything that gets in his way. He has even used Olivias head as a step to climb up on the couch! I just attributed it to mind skills vs. motor skills. Olivia sure seems to be able to interact with just about anyone anytime, but she is not even walking yet. Aiden went from crawling to running!!! Who knows!!!

 we are the same way ...
KrystaLynn says mama and dada and baba and some 'GooGoo' of sorts :snicker: while Cassien is happy with his squeals, screeches and growls.

Both of mine have been doing raspberries too in full force for weeks now! Constantly wet from it!

Maya babbles more. It seems like she is making an effort to communicate. Augusts primarily grunts, gurgles, coos and squeals.

This thread is pretty interesting! I thought boys talked before girls. My niece didn't start saying "Dada" until she was around the boys when they were saying it. She's 4 months older so I guess she's behind when it comes to talking. They started with dada at 4 months and now say mama, baba, goygoy and hi. They also try to mimic sounds and words they hear.

Boys usually talk later and seem to have more speech issues than girls.

My kids don't say anything that I would find 'recognizable', but they 'talk' all the time.
I usually relate speech with actual talking, like communication. So, for me, unless my kids say "mama" while putting their arms out or something I just think they're making 'ma ma ma ma ma' sounds. :D
Usually my kids start really talking about 1 year old or so.

Lisa started babbling earlier, then stopped for a while... now they both babble, although Chris not as much as he used to, but it actually sounds about the same. Chris is more high pitched though.

I have boys but Aiden is exactly like Daniel! But Evan says mama and dada, but I don't know if he has connected the words with the people yet. He says baba too...that's what I call his bottle:snicker:

Emily talks a lot, Zachary just smiles and/or laughs. He does not have time to talk, he wants to let go of the couch and try to stand then walk. He has said dada once or twice but that is about it. He will talk to Emily in the morning in their cribs before I get them. He does babble everyone once in a while with me but not much. I guess Emily is going to do the talking for him. Just like big sis does for big brother.

I've got the opposite going on here...well at least for a little while I did.
Matthew really started babbling recognizable sounds several weeks ago--ma ma (that was first :)), ba ba, da da, etc. No real words yet. Lilly, on the other hand, just started babbling this week saying da da da da da da over and over again! She is much more interested in blowing raspberries at all of us! :snicker: But Matthew is also the mover of the two of them. I know he's going to crawl any day now!! Lilly is taking her sweet time on all of it!

mine are both girls, however, there is a huge difference between them. one of mine is an athlete and crawling already, but rarely babbles. the other can't even sit up yet but she talks nonstop! :snicker:

so maybe its not a girl or boy thing but a what a child is focused on thing. I herad that each baby is diff. One thing that they focus on is the thing they r going to be better yet. Yari pulls himself up into a kneeling and standing position. He says ma-ma when he's sad and he says da-da all the time. He blows rasberrys and almost has the crawling thing down. And he sits up by himself. Yasmein is getting her first tooth and she scoots really well now. She says baba and dada but not as much as Yari. It seems like Yari is moving faster than Ya-Ya but I know if Ya-Ya wanted to move or talk that she can. She just does thing when SHE feels like it:love:
