I was due at the end of April this year (althought those trouble makers came 2 months early). I found out I was preggers in August and found out it was twin in September. So this board should start filling up pretty soon!!
Good luck, Ladies!!

Hi Ladies,
I'm new here, I just found out a few days ago that we are expecting Twins! My edd is March 16 so I'm about 7 weeks. This will be #1 and 2 for us. After years of infertility, we were finally able to get pregnant via IVF. I can't wait to get to know everyone!

Hi, I'm new here! We just found out last week we are pregnant and due April 3rd. We had to use fertility treatments with this one though and I had 3, maybe 4 mature eggs when they did the IUI so there is a chance of multiples!! At 12 dpo my hcg was 217. Seemed high for so early! I go back tomorrow to have my beta done again and they said they'd probably do an ultrasound this friday!!! I'm excited to find out!

I have my first appt next monday, it is the same dr I had before so I'm sure she will do and ultrasound to find out how many. Funny thing is I'm only a/b 7 weeks and I already have a belly. I am also starving to death. Every two hours I literally have to eat a meal. Thats the only thing i can remember a/b being preggers with the twins was the being hungry part and have to pee constantly.

They moved up my ultrasound to wednesday!!! I'm so excited! I'll only be 4 1/2 weeks so it seems a little early to see anything but they go off your hcg levels as to when they do the ultrasound.
I got back my levels for today - 17 dpo and I'm at 1848. I was at 407 at 14 dpo so its went up a lot!! I'm nervous and really excited to find out!!!

Kaylee- Mine was unplanned too. I am getting excited though. I went back to work for about 6 months back in November and then quit b/c Averie was sick and I missed a/b 2 weeks of work. I really need to be working b/c things are tight around here with the prices of everything going up and pay staying the same. I don't think anyone will hire a preg woman, plus I can't afford daycare for 2 kids. It would't be worth working. Good luck with what you are going to do about your job, are you going to quit? What do you do? What kind of car do you have? We bought a Town and Country back in Oct b/c my camry was getting crowded and I couldn't even get groceries with the kids and the stroller in the car. I'm gonna go since i'm rambling on now.

So how is everyone feeling? I am almost 8 weeks and I am finally feeling good. I was on effexor xr in the beginning and when I found out I was preggers I was a/b 4 weeks and then started to get off of it. Well, I felt like crap until about 6 weeks, the withdraws of it were horrible and they are alot of the same preg. symptoms so I wasn't sure if it was the medicine or the preg. I was almost sure it was the medicine b/c I had a smooth preg with the twins. I wouldn't have known I was preg with them if I hadn't had a belly and missed my period. Anyways, I'm finally feeling back to normal. Anyone feeling extra good or extra bad?
kayleeplus2+2more
07-31-2008, 12:19 PM
I feel icky but I am also sick. I think I have a sinus infection. Well, I think I am sick, I remember at about 5 weeks with my twins I felt like I had the flu, this was before I knew about the twins but knew I was preg. I feel better than I did yesterday, so thats good.
Anyone have any MS yet? I don't have any yet, but it didn't start until 5-6 weeks with the twins.

I am beginning to think the morning/noon/night sickness will never end.....It's beginning to get me really down at times b/c it totally incapacitates me at times. I had gastric bypass surgery 2 years ago, and throwing up is VERY physically painful for me for some reason now. Thank the good Lord for Zofran....I am having a hard time getting my insurance to cover all of the Rx though...They think I should be knocked out on phenergan.

Congratulations to all of you expecting twins and I wish you all the best. I do have a question for you ladies though...how soon did you test + and which test did you use? I just found out that I am expecting my 5th...due April 10th...and tested + 9 dpo. I thought that was a little bit early and don't know what to think about that. I even used a generic Equate brand from Wally, by mistake, instead of using the Early First Response. I know that identical twins is a fluke thing to happen, but that fraternal twins is genetic. Well, we have grandfathers on both sides of our dads' families who were fraternal twins. I am 33 and slowly increasing my chances with already having 4 children. I have heard/read that testing sooner can indicate the hcg levels/hormones surges can be indicative of twins or a girl or both. Does any of this make sense or hold any truth? I was just wondering and would appreciate any and all input...

When I got preg with my twins I got preg result as soon as I peed on the stick. This time it was a surprise so I waited until I missed my period b/f I even got a test and it was immediate also. As far as id twins and fat twins, I researched it when I had mine. ID twins susposedly does not run in families but my great aunt had id twins and her son had id twins. Frat twins does run in families but it comes from the mothers side, such as from you, your mother and so on, b/c it is from releasing more than one egg at a time. Good luck, and I hope its twins. Mine are so fun to watch, they make my day everyday. I hope I have twins again. I am only 8 weeks and I am already showing.
Question for everone that this is their 2nd or more pregnancy. I am 8 weeks and showing. I mean I have a belly. What is up with that? I mean I started showing early with the twins but I wasn't this big with them at 8 weeks. I am already back in my mat clothes. None of my reg clothes fit. I look 4-5 months along already. Did any of you show very early with your 2nd or 3rd in most of our cases?

WOW. Maybe youre having triplets :snicker: . With your 2nd preg you show faster too. They say you measure from 6-12 weeks ahead with twins, so you could be measuring 20 weeks. At 20 weeks I was measrung 31 weeks. I am only 4 1/2 weeks but tested at 23 after the first day of my period. I have no idea when I ovulated and got an immediate line too.

Its so funny, I keep telling my family that people don't have more than 2 naturally. You really have too have fert. treatments to have triplets or more. On oprah yesterday there was a family that conceived quads naturally. I know it can happen but I really don't think it will, ya know. I think i would pass out if there were more than 2 in there. Look at this pic of me at 8 weeks. its not that great of a pic but it shows my belly already. I really don't think its possible to be farther along than what I am b/c I had my normal period in June then missed Julys. I am super excited to go to the dr on Monday. I wish I could have gone today.

There is a couple here in South Carolina (where I live) that actually have identical quads without IVF and another down the street from us that have identical triplets w/ out ivf...Everyone around here makes a big joke about it being "the water in the water tower" here....I actually was preggo w/ spontaneous triplets; however, lost one at week 7....Some say that there are some environmental factors, but not sure....lol...Will you have an ultrasound Monday when you go to the MD?

As far as showing earlier...it depends on how one was in shape before even getting pregnant, which # baby, and how close the pregnancies are. I think that having twins would be equivalent to a 3rd or 4th pregnancy! I've had 4 babies already, with no twins, and I have shown a little bit sooner with each one. However, I've gotten sick with each one which makes me lose weight and not show as early either though:) I had the hyperemesis gravidum with my DD and migraines with my 3 DS. I've been told wearing the sea bands, sucking on peppermint candy or chewing peppermint gum, and drinking ginger ale helps. I wonder what others have done to alleviate the problem and take the edge off?

Plus its actually my RE doing it on thur were the last two were done by my nurse. So...I'm still anxiously waiting. How's everyone's hcg levels been? My office stops measuring once you go over 5000 and I was over 5000 at 5 weeks. So who knows how high I'm at right now.

Thanks so much for your answer(s) and sorry it took me so long to get back...
I am feeling and doing well so far, but maybe that's b/c my body is not as sensitive to the hormones since I've already been pregnant 4 times already. Anyway, the only big complaint I have is that I've had frequent loose stools, especially in the morning. Have you experienced any of this before or now, particularly when pregnant with twins? I am sorry for OCD-ing on thinking it's twins, but I cannot help it! I even had a couple of experiences that make me think twins as well...call it coincidence or intuition...but I had a dream about having girl twins and then that same week there were girl twins at the community pool:) They had medium brown & wavy hair, like I did when I was little, and they were playing over right by my 2 1/2 year old boy and I...crazy!!
I have even hoped and prayed, or willed, my body to have twin girls since we started ttc...I believe I tend to hyperovulate also!!! It is possible with being in my 30s, 5th pregnancy, and fraternal twins on both sides of the family...

I hope its twins for you too. I was really hoping for twins again. I'm still praying that there is one hiding in there somewhere. I'm not quite sur why though b/c the infant stage really was hard and now I have 2 two yr olds to deal with plus the new one. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted twins. I always thought I would have them. I dated a guy about 8 years ago whose aunt had twin girls while we were dating and I spent all the time I could over there. She thought I was nuts for saying that I hoped for twins. As a matter of fact she had a preminition of having twins b/f she got pregnant. She new they were twins b/f she went to the dr. So I really think its possible to KNOW. I have had the loose stools also. I had it with the twins and I am having it with this one too. I always thought I was susposed to be constipated but its the opposite. Good luck and I will send twin vibes your way.

Thanks, Kristin! I think it would be neat to have twins, but a part of me would be nervous and anxious about it as well...especially the pregnancy. I don't want to dismiss how much twice the work it would be and such, but I know it would all work out and be just fine. It's a bittersweet feeling, because I do have others to already take care of. However, I am already experienced and more relaxed than I would be with it being my first. So, there are pros and cons to my situation...let alone any scenario.
I hope that you and Kaylee have good visits today and can't wait to hear how it all went for you both! Here's praying you find out what you want to hear:)
I won't be going in any time soon unless there is concern or a reason to.
Congrats on expecting and best wishes with pregnancy...

I have to do it, its not how but when. I really liked bring pregnant and this one is starting off good too so I'm hoping I'm still gonna like it. I don't think I would have minded the 2 month window except for my body not really getting back to normal first I guess your body never is really normal after twins so never mind.:snicker:

I did the same thing with the twins. I'm 5'9" and I wore my regular jeans throughout my entire pregnancy b/c jeans these days are low cut. When I came out of the hospital I was right back to normal plus breastfeeding took off extra. But I only gained 43 lbs with them. This one on the other hand I started out 20lbs more than my normal weight bc of my anxiety medication made me gain weight. I'm hoping I get back down after this one quick too. I plan on breast feeding again so hopefully. I got left with all those stretch marks too, only on my stomach. No more bikinis for me ever.

Well I've had two other ultrasounds and I could see the baby on the bottom every time but they kept telling me it was just a blood vein or something else. So I haven't been convinced there was just one! It was just nice to have what I felt was true confirmed!

My sister went with me and the US tech was the same one from my last pg. She did the abdominal US real quick and I couldn't read her. She said she needed to do a vaginal and left the room so I could get undressed. I was getting ready to ask my sister what she saw and she told me "it looks like black alien eyes" I said, what? you saw 2 black spots?" she said yeah, why? does that mean there are two? I said YUP. I was somewhat doubting though because it has been 15 years since she has seen an US photo. So, when the tech came back she looked for a few minutes and then said "well kid, your having twins again." and she turned the screen so I could see. I was actually in disbelief. Betty (US tech) said in her 22 years she has never had back to back spontaneous twins, so I was a first. My OB office has 5 sets of twins right now.

Wow, I couldn't even imagine finding out I was having twins...it must be many emotions to take in all at once! Once again, congratulations to all...
I don't know why, but I keep running into signs that I am still pregnant with twins as well:) I swear that it's not just b/c they are a desire, but b/c I have this strong intuition that it is so. The physical symptoms are there too. Even before getting a positive at 9dpo I had to pee in the middle of the night, have had awful lower back aching, already exhausted, and just don't recall the s&s to be this much yet. This time around seems more exaggerated, or maybe it's all in my head due to convincing myself otherwise and/or I already have a big family to take care of and tend to. However, I am only 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and can barely wear my normal clothes comfortably now. I am 5'6" tall and weigh #130-#135, small-boned, but have an athletic build. I know this is my 5th pregnancy and expected to pooch out there a little bit sooner, but still...this early on??? Any and all input is greatly appreciated...

Do you already have twins? What you have described is EXACTLY what made me suspect again!

I do not already have twins, but there are fraternal twins on both sides of the family. I think my cycles have been weird though, and may have hyperovulated! The wild yam extract, extra vitamins, and calcium supplements may have contributed as well. I was taking the last two for obvious reasons, but the wild yam was to help regulate my cycles and good for the overall reproduction system. In general, I wanted to pinpoint and know exactly when I ovulated. It did happen to lessen the severity by doing so. However, until later research...I didn't realize that I was possibly messing with mother nature. My LMP was July 4th and we BD the 14, 15, 16 and ovulated on the 18. Then we BD early in the morning on the 20. The reason I took a test early was b/c the s&s were already present and made me wonder. Now, I've heard that the hcg will be high enough to detect if it's twins, girls or both due to the extra hormone surges and such. I am at risk for them due to the fact that I am in my 30s, have multiple pregnancies, and a family history. So, now what do you think??? I can't help but make myself go crazy until my first appt...
kayleeplus2+2more

Sounds like it to me! What is BD and s&s? Check out your uterus, can you feel it above your pelvic bone?
momofive2b
08-09-2008, 02:33 PM
Ooops, sorry...I'm abbreviating too much here. BD=bed dancing (sex) and S&S= signs and symptoms.
I don't know what to look for when I am feeling my uterus above the pelvic bone? All I do feel is that my pooch is already hard and bounces back quickly when pushed on. When I lay down, my tummy doesn't sink in either. There is a slight, but noticeable, roundness to it already.
So, what makes you think it could be twins for me compared to what you experienced...anything specific? I just don't know if I've said anything alarming or if I am just being paranoid...
kayleeplus2+2more
08-09-2008, 02:48 PM
Well when I lay down, I can feel around my lower tummy and feel the top of my uterus already. I don't know how to explain that, sorry. You haven't said anything alarming at all. But those are the same symptoms I had with both of my pg's. Except the lower back pain, I don't have that. You have to wait 3 weeks for an US?

This is so exciting waiting for new people to join our group!! I'm still totally in shock though. :snicker:

Okay, so I layed down to feel the top of my uterus/fundus and if I felt it right or at all...it's about 1-2 fingers above my pubic area. It IS hard to explain but I think it felt textured-like or bumpy-like. Does that make sense or mean anything at all?
Thanks twin preggers...I should go in to have an u/s done or at least have my numbers checked! Can one insist on having one done that early? I know that some offices do a routine one in the very beginning to confirm pregnancy & such, but ours does not.
I should take a picture from the side, like Kristin did, just so you can see my belly. I question it myself when I look in the mirror:) Even though this is my 5th pregnancy, I am still a fairly slim person and this all just seems weird feeling. I am not going to dismiss the red flags going up until something is validated either way though.
I'd love to join your board and thanks again for taking the time to respond...

I think if you tell them you supsect it may be twins, they would have reason to do an early US. Twins require more monitoring that a normal pregnancy, especially if they are identical.

So I just have a quick question since most of you already have more than one child. I am having alot of pressure down there. I don't remember having this until I was like 25-30 weeks with the twins. I was out last night shopping and was in so much pain I thought I was going to have to go to the er. Is it normal to have pressure like this with 2nd pregnancy this early (9 weeks). I dread going to the dr and them saying somethings wrong. What do you think?

I am sure nothing is wrong, but if it the pain increases then I would go in to ease your mind. My guess is that it's b/c you've already carried twins, which is equal to 2 or 3 pregnancies. I felt the heaviness and pressure down there much sooner with each one, especially with boys, since they are carried lower...at least for me they were. Your ligaments and muscles have been weakened with your first pregnancy and for good reason! You are chasing after and keeping up with toddler twins as well:) I hope the discomfort is better for you today and try to keep hanging in there, literally...
I may go in earlier around 8 weeks if I can get an u/s done. I will be 6 weeks next week. I am not gaining weight anywhere else other than my abdomen. I've already gained some weight, but it may just be bloating and my mind doing tricks on me as well.

Alright, ladies, it's been a while and how are you doing lately? Those of you who have been pregnant with twins before or just found out you are...what have you been feeling like and how early? My fear of asking for an early u/s, because I think I'm carrying twins, seems humiliating to me...mostly due to the fact that it's not routine except if there is a reason. I will just wait, unless they suspect something sooner, and doubt that I really am anyway. Maybe, if it is twins for me, then I will be pleasantly surprised when and if it does happen:) I am 6 weeks now and finally called my clinic. I get in for a visit with the nurse next week on Friday and then have my very first appt with my OB doctor at the end of September. So, nothing exciting going on for me yet in that dept. I have no m/s yet either, but it can stay that way! I am dreading the day if it still comes though. I hope that the rest of you are feeling okay as well...

I just know before I even found out I was pregnant I was beyong tired and peeing like a horse. At 6weeks I started spotting so the doctor told me to come in the next day for an US. When she said it I just about fell right off the examination table. We dont have twins on my side . My husbands sisters are ID but Ive read its only on the moms side and only for fraternal.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with asking for an early US. My dr does it rountinly. Maybe you could go to one of the places that do free pregnancy tests for women, some of them also do a free US. I did that b/c medicaid had to have proof of pregnancy for me and I wasn't gonna pay planned parenthood $40. If not then just ask your dr. I feel just like I did with the twins. I mean exactly. So I really can't say since I'm just carrying one this time. My belly is growing fast. I still haven't put on but like 2 lbs but my belly looks like my 14 week pics with the twins. I am starving every 1.5-2 hours. i can't make it more than 2 hours without feeling like I'm going to pass out. No m/s but I didn't have it with the twins either. I also have to pee like every hour, that is the biggest pain in the a$$. I am also soooo tired. When I finally go to sleep I am comatose. I can't move to get up and deal with the twins if they get up at night. I remember being like that when I was pregnant before. This time I guess I'm so tired b/c I have 2 toddlers. Who knows, I have another US on the 29th, I'm still hoping for them to find another one. I know that theres just one but for some reason I still feel like theres more.

Thanks for the tips & input, mamas! I may check out your advice and I realize that I can demand for an u/s, but I may just wait to see what my hcg and blood levels reveal first. If I do have spotting before though, I will be getting one done and then maybe it will be revealed to me then...if in fact that is what's happening.
I had another dejavus episode...right when I am convincing myself it's not twins, then something happens to remind me that it might be:) We were at the community pool the other day and here walks in a set of baby boy twins! They set their mini playpen up right next to our area and my daughter spotted them running up to me pointing it out...I couldn't believe it. I know that twins exist and it may be more prominent these days, b/c of fertility txts/clinics, but still...I only go swimming with my family once a week for a few hours and not on the same day of the week. Just seems wierd and/or ironic to me, I think??? I wonder if any of you who've been pregnant, or are right now, had anything like this happen to you...
I am slowly creeping in to the m/s role, but it's still bearable. It's minimal and it comes & goes right now. The being tired, very hungry, and peeing a lot was there even before I found out that I was pregnant.
If it's not twins, I am convinced it is a girl though. The female hormones or number of babies in there is proving why I tested so early and how exaggerated my S&S were so soon.
I hope you are all having a nice weekend...I am enjoying my family and weather we are having here in the Midwest.

Oh my goodness....okay, I have something to share and please don't laugh at me but rather humor me! I know that the size of my baby at 7 weeks is not able to kick around or flutter inside of me yet. However, I was laying on my back in bed watching TV last night and felt two distinctive gas-bubble like flutters near my belly button. Have any of you had this with your twin pregnancies or with your others? I didn't know if this had anything to do with carrying multiples or what. I have read/heard that the amount of fluid and more than 1 baby in there can crowd things out and force things around in there toward the front of the belly. So, I don't know and it really freaked me out!! I even had my DH put his hand there to see if he could feel something, but of course it didn't happen again. I just wanted some input and need some helpful answers on what this could be...thanks so much and I appreciate your time:)

momofive2b I have been feeling the baby move since about 9 weeks. My dr says it isn't possible but i felt the twins and knew for sure it was them at 13 weeks. I feel this baby move all the time and I'm 11 weeks. I know it is the baby, I can just tell. I don't think you're crazy at all. Its so funny b/c I was just fixing to post this same exact thing. I too was wondering if anyone else have movement this early.

Kristinw0821: Thanks for your post! Okay, so I am glad to not be going crazy:) Are you sure you are not having twins and did you feel these early flutters with your first pregnancy when carrying multiples? I have felt flutter movement sooner with each one and thought that it's b/c this is my 5th time around. I may be farther along or it could possibly still be twins. I am a slender person, but my tummy isn't the same after 4 singleton births though either. So, I don't know what to think and will have to wait until my 10 week appt next month. It's so hard to not think about the possibility. Right when I think I am being hopeful and my mind is playing tricks on me, then something like this happens to make me think about it and wonder again. Silly me...:snicker:

you know i still wish there were 2 in there but its just wishful thinking. I have another us on Friday, the last one I was still measuring right where i'm susposed to be. I have heard that you feel moverment earlier with each pregnancy b/c you know what it feels like. I felt things early on with the twins b/c I started out slender. I didn't know for sure it was the babies until a/b 13 weeks. I am also feeling it closer to my belly button like you said. Its down low sometimes but other times its a little higher. I think that my uterus just expanded rather quickly this time or something :snicker: . I hope you're having twins b/c it is so much fun. BTW what is you name?
momofive2b
08-24-2008, 08:05 PM
My name is Holly...yeah, I did feel something around 9 weeks down below in my abdomen with my 4th pregnancy. However, it was much lower compared what I felt last night. It must be that our uterus has expanded more by now. Me with a 5th and you with already having twins. What I was thinking though was, why is what I am feeling so much higher already at 7 weeks? That seems crazy to me and I swear it was right around my belly button area! I must be wishing for twins:) It must just be gas and everything moving around inside or whatever. I can't wait to hear how your u/s goes on Friday!

I wonder how Shannon, Katie, and JellyBean are doing lately???
Kristin: I think I change my mind about what I was feeling. I don't want to sound silly or hopeful, and am trying to be practical. However, I think that I am dismissing flutter action. I know the difference b/t gas bubbles, flutters, and kicks by now. What I felt over the weekend were distinctive taps & tickles. There were two of them within seconds of the other. It was around my belly button area, but was not above and rather just below and to the side of it. I am a gassy person by nature, and even more so during pregnancy like most, but it was not that at all. It was enough to stop me in my tracks (of watching TV in bed) and grab my DH hand to put on my tummy. Of course, nothing happened and hasn't since then! I know that I won't feel anything again until the very first kick, go figure:)
Kristinw0821
08-26-2008, 08:51 AM
Holly I know what you mean a/b knowing the difference. I don't feel it constantly but I probably feel it 1-2 times a day usually when I sit down after being up moving for a while. That first US won't come fast enough for you :) .

SereneDream: As far as the twins vs. triplets question posted...I don't have experience with multiple babies during pregnancy, but I do have multiple children. I would think that a twin pregnancy would be much easier than carrying triplets, just because the body is under less stress and demand. However, it may be a challenge to keep up with those 1 year old triplets being pregnant and after the twins are born though. You will have a basketball team just like us and Shannon:proud:

I guess the triplets were "spontaneous" - conceived naturally, but I was completely shocked by this pregnancy. We are excited tho and am hoping to have another ultrasound in two weeks. I have the same ob that delivered the triples (Maya, Emily and Matt) who wants to see me "frequently", just bc the last time around was very difficult but it was totally worth it to have three healthy babies. Thanks, Kristin, and doing okay and decent by the end of the day. The mornings are the worst though, but do better as the day progresses at least.
Serenedream: Sorry to hear that you had a bad day. I felt yucky like that at 6 weeks and now I'm almost 9 weeks. We traveled over Labor Day weekend and made a 10-12 hour power-trip (one way) within 4 days. Needless to say, the visiting...lack of sleep...and not much down time caught up with me. I had a migraine h/a driving back home. I think with resting and laying low, by keeping things simple, has helped me regroup and recuperate since then though. Now, I am just back to the nausea and gagging moments! At least, I haven't thrown up yet...knock on some really hard wood:)
Both Kristin and I stay home, but I think that I read she watches another little girl during the day. I like being home because of the flexibility and catching up on things. I am a person that likes to stay on top of things or be able to come and go as needed. Besides, even though daycare isn't an option for us, it wouldn't be worth the money compared to the hassle it would cause. By the time this baby is born it will be almost summer. So, by next fall my older 3 will all be in school full-time and home with the younger 2. Although, my fourth will be able to go to his very first year of prek as well. Phew, hard to keep straight and track of sometimes.
My oldest, who is a girl, will be taking the babysitting class next summer at the hospital that is offered to 11 year olds (she's 10 now & her b-day is in April). I am so excited to be able to ease her into that. I can do a few small errands during nap time in the day. Not quite old enough to leave her with the baby and all /day evening yet, but she can get used to the idea at least! It will be nice when she is of babysitting age though:) Not trying to grow her up too fast, but do look forward to the extra help with no family around to chip in. It will be helpful as the others get older as well, and/or if we decide to have one more baby:)

When is your US appt? I'm anxious to hear if your having twins!

Thanks for keeping me in mind, girls! I will probably end up being the idiot who cried wolf though:) My u/s is Sept. 18th at 9:30am. So, I have 2 more weeks and can't be here fast enough. Not that I want any spotting/bleeding, but maybe if I have that before then...I will have one done sooner.
Hope the rest of you are feeling and doing fine so far...thanks again for thinking of me!! Oh, get this (it's funny), I ended up joining an Australian "mums" forum, by mistake, because I was looking for an April 2009 due date club!!! :snicker: I love it though and think they are all just great...just like you gals:)

Yuck...sorry to hear about the sinus infection...like we don't feel crummy enough with the nausea/vomiting, which is where I think these babies are keeping me. I continue to get sick all day/everyday and have lost a couple of pounds. The MD is beginning to "not be so happy about" that, so he has called the insurance company to raise "HE%#"........b/c he now wants me to take the zofran AT LEAST twice a day...we'll see how that goes....anyway, it will all be worth it, it will all be worth it, it will all be worth it...lol.....hope you start to feel better soon!! hugs!

k can i vent here just for a second i promise :) My hormones are making me crazy, I actually boo-hooed in the car because the girl at the bakery said I looked really good for being in my second trimester. I felt my eyes roll in the back of my head. Then my doctor mentioned that triplets can occur back to back - I think he was trying to be funny but I didn't appreciate the humor. Matty has discovered that he can flush things which I didn't expect quite yet so I came home and he was crawling out of our bathroom looking really proud of himself. Meanwhile, DH was trying to color coordinate the girls clothes - lol I try to find the humor in these situations. I was tempted for a second to tell him that we were having quads just to see his expression!!
Shannon - I hope you get over your sinus infection soon and feel better:)

Katie is your insurance not wanting to pay for the zofran? They only gave me 12 pills at the pharmacy the first time. When I went to refill they said the insurance wouldnt cover it until the 10th. I spent my 8 year old sons bday party throwing up in the bathroom stall . Its the generic so its only 3 dollars a pill... but damn the insurance!

Sorry to hear about the extreme and excessive twin pregnancy S&S symptoms you are all having:( I have the exhaustion & nausea, but it's bearable. The sinus infection doesn't sound fun either, but if it makes you feeling any better...I think I may have a kidney infection! Along with that, I find it odd how I already have occasion bouts of vaginal discomfort and heaviness down there. It isn't due to the baby yet, but must be because of the weight of the uterus bearing down on my already weak muscles & ligaments inside there. I still question it though, due to the fact that I am only 9 weeks? Another thing that makes me question and wonder about twins...I google a lot by typing in what I am experiencing and the possibility of twins always arises! My mind is playing tricks on me again I think:)

Gosh it stinks you have to wait TWO more weeks for that US! I think I would be dreaming up symptoms. Have you told your dr. you think it might be twins? I told mine and they let me go in to the US room and just do a quickie to see but it was too early and we couldn't see anything yet.

I know...the 2ww is going to just kill me! My mind must be playing tricks and making me dream up S&S or something:) However, get this one...so the doctor's office called me back and said that everything looks fine. In fact, my urine looked remarkable!! Then, I proceeded to ask her what else could be going on? She asked if I was having twins!!! I couldn't believe it and thought that I cannot take it anymore. She explained to me, and it all made sense, that the demand of multiples on the body is twice as much. I told her that I will try drinking more water over the weekend and let her know by Monday if the flank pain in the back persists. I am not dehydrated, because I do drink plenty of water, but who knows what's going on. I hope and pray this isn't the start of kidney stones or whatever...now I am really wondering and paranoid.
Any input??? Just wanted to share and update the test results and what the nurse had to say...

Just wanted to say hi. I confess I've been reading this thread for a couple of weeks now and am just now getting around to registering as a user! I am a first time mom-to-be and just found out 2 weeks ago that it is TWINS when my MD was investigating some spotting!! I am completely shocked and don't even know what to think but I am very excited! I am due mid- to late-March 2009. Today I am 8 weeks, 6 days. I've had 2 ultrasounds already and another is scheduled for this Friday. I am always nervous that all will be well with both of them. One sac is smaller than the other, but last week the doc says "they look good, so I'm not going to worry about them right now." She also said they both had strong heartbeats around 150 bpm. I've slept better since then.
Nice to meet you all! I'm looking foward to some advice!

I have headaches with the zofran, but can take tylenol and they are under control. I would MUCH rather have a headache than the nausea. Even with the zofran and not trhowing up I have still lost 5 lbs! I gaine 8 lbs in the beginning right away and now have lost 5 of those.

Hey ladies sorry you all are feeling so bad. I am good except for being sooooooo tired. I'm 13 weeks and still exhausted. I had a bad allergic reaction to something last monday and was feeling really bad. I had dr appt on Thurs and she said everything was fine. I got to hear the heart beat and it was 157 bpm. I'm not getting another ultrasound until Nov. I actually lost 2 lbs since my last visit but my belly is growing out of control. I remember with the last pregnancy I didn't start gaining until about the 4th month even though it was twins and then I only gained 43 lbs. Hope my weight doesn't get too crazy this time around. My boobs are still killing me, when the kids sit in my lap and lean up against me it just hurts so bad. Well I gotta go pee and take some tylenol for this headache before the kids get up from their nap. Hope you all get to feeling better soon.

Good to hear from everyone and welcome newbies! I am still the one who is crying twins though:) My 10 week u/s is a week from this Thursday...
Funny story to share...I went out with some neighbor friends over the weekend and they were literally laughing and pointing at how obviously pregnant I already looked. I haven't been able to wear most of my normal clothes since week 6 and not any of them at all since week 8. I really stick out there after I eat! Anyway, still suspecting twins but maybe I'm farther along or just really stretched out from 4 previous pregnancies:) The latter is possible, but thought that it was a bit too early to be like this still...minus the bloating. I think I read some place that if one looks obviously pregnant b/t 8-10 weeks, then there may be multiples to consider...even if it's not a first or second pregnancy. What y'all thinking???
I hope that the rest of you are feeling and doing better soon. I have the all-day nausea that comes and goes, but it's tolerable if I have a small snack every couple of hours...so hungry! I am going to fall into a bad habit of eating like this once again, but at least I will be nursing to justify it a little bit longer:) No wonder I have less and less motivation to bounce back with each baby...

right there with all of yall on the nausea/vomiting....I have a VERY limited supply of zofran and after appealing, MD involvement, etc etc...the insurance company is still denying anymore...I am sooooo beginning to feel defeated in all of this. I am still losing weight and unable to keep much down. It's soooo frustrating...I talked with the pharmacist about breaking the zofran in half; however, he said that the dissolving kind that I had wouldn't really work that way, so who knows....I am thinking of trying to take a phenergan at night and zofran during the day to try to get some kind of relief. Hope all of you get to feeling better soon as well...:)

I got meds today and am feeling soooo much better. I think if you're showing early it could depend on how you're carrying or it could possibly be multiples. I think one of the early signs if you are larger than normal (singleton pregnancy) it can possibly be multiples and if you measure larger than your weeks and the conception age doesen't match your size (for example in my sixth month with the triplets I was already as big as a 40 week singleton pregnancy). I had gained over 45 pounds by that point.

Katie have you thought about getting the zofran generic? I ended up forking out the money because my insurance wasnt covering it. We use the Costco pharmacy and its about 3 dollars a pill. More then I want to pay but definitely worth not being sick.

Holly, I'm with you on the being hungry. I am starving and then I go to eat and can't eat more than 1/2 a sandwich and I'm full, but and hour and a half later I'm starving again. I also couldn't wear any of my clothes by 6 weeks. I can still wear some t-shirts but not the jeans. I'm 97% in maternity clothes. Everything I'm having this time I had with the twins but this time around theres only one. I hope you will get to experience the joy of having twins but I also don't know if I could handle 6 kids.

Kristin, I don't know if I am actually hoping for twins but I would welcome it. I think every single pregnant mom wonders and considers for a moment that it may be twins. But for me this time around, I can't get it off my mind at all. So, my obsession with it may be mistaken for wishful thinking. However, my mind is just playing tricks on me and making me go crazy! When I try to convince myself otherwise, then something else happens or I read something to prove differently.
They say that after 3 children that it doesn't make a big difference on how many one has after that. I thought it was the easiest transition to go from 3 to 4 than the others. And I don't know what would be more difficult...having twins the first time around not being as relaxed with less experience, or having others already around but being more relaxed with more experience? I've enjoyed #3 and #4 the most, because I've learned to let go and enjoy what I didn't with the first two.
It goes both ways, but I don't think it will be bad for me. My children will be 11...8...5...and 3 by the time the 5th (or 6th) one comes along. I have 1 girl & 3 boys already. The oldest is my only DD and she will be taking the babysitting class at the hospital next summer. I don't have high school or college-aged children now, but I already know how much easier kids are under the age of 3. As they get older, they get busier with school and activities but they are also more independent and helpful around the house with the others & chores. So, take the time to enjoy them when they are little and don't rush the milestones. They will come soon enough and then wishing one could get them back. It is much easier to physically wipe and chase the kids around than it is to deal with older children who have homework and argue with each other!! I had my 4th child when school was letting out for the summer!!! At least, there will be an adjustment period b/t this pregnancy and transitioning with a newborn at home once again before next summer.
Off to find my tote of maternity clothes in the basement and to get a snack...

I'm so sorry, that stinks! I didn't have the money either, but knew if I didn't get some relief, I would not be able to go to work and would therefore become even more broke! My mom paid for half my fist prescription, then my insurance finally covered it.

Hello all! I'm also new to the site. We found out a few weeks ago that we're expecting twins mid-March. We don't know if they're fraternal or identical (two sacs, two placentas), but fraternal twins run in my family, so it's a good bet that's what they are. My Mommy instincts are telling me that they're BG twins with baby A being the quiet little girl and baby B being the feisty little boy. :)

Katie, that is okay! It's hard to keep track of everyone and their days. I will be 11 weeks by my scan date:) I have a friend going with me, just in case, due to my DH out of town to New York for work.
So, for those of you who already know it's twins are are new to this site...looking back, would you mind sharing your earliest signs & symptoms of being pregnant with multiples? Pretty please...just humor me for another week!
I do consider that this is my 5th pregnancy, but the recent thing I've experienced already is the pressure & heaviness down there. Sorry if too much TMI...but WAY down there up inside. I know that it's not due to the size of the baby(ies) yet, but do realize that my muscles and ligaments are more weak as well. I read that if one is carrying more than one, that this can happen b/c of the extra fluids in the uterus bearing down so early on until the uterus lifts up and away in the second trimester.
Here are some additional things I've noticed about myself as well...having to pee a lot in the night even before I knew that I was pregnant, terrible back aches, hip pain, very hungry, extra nauseated, overly oily/zitty, pooched out by 6 weeks but very obvious to others by 8 weeks, and felt two taps/bumps at 7 weeks while laying on my back in bed watching TV. They were within seconds of the other and it was not gas bubbles. I do know the difference by now. No, there are no limbs yet but they can still flutter around in there...especially if the space is crowded. Sensations can happen sooner with each pregnancy as well. I am 5'6" and pre-pregnancy weight about 130#. For having 4 children already, I am a fit and athletic person who takes care of her body and enjoys working out.
Here are a few factors that already exist as well...I tend to hyperovulate some months and the month I got pregnant, I had awful cramping during ovulation. There are fraternal twins on both sides of the family, I'm in my 30s, multiple pregnancies, and just have a hunch/intuition. They say to not ignore one's gut instinct at all.
So, any thoughts or input??? My u/s scan can't be here fast enough...

I had no extra symptoms, just a lower back ache that I still can't seem to beat. My nausea was actually less severe than with my son, and lasted half as long. I did show early, but it is my third pregnancy, so that's actually to be expected.

Danelle, thanks for sharing the experience on your twin pregnancy so far...sometimes the S&S can be more or less with multiples and can't really go by how big we are getting either, depending on if it's a first or subsequent pregnancy. So, it's really tricky and hopefully I will be able to know one way or the other come the end of this week! Thanks again and best wishes:)

Good morning, girlies! Hey, I wanted to tell you about a new store that opened in our town and I went to it for the first time over the weekend. It's called 'Mommy & Me Boutique' and it offers maternity/items for nursing mothers. My DH went along and got me the cutest hot pink shirt with black letters that say, "Body By Baby". I thought that was clever and could even have the word "baby" replaced with "babies" for those expecting multiples. They did have a shirt with those expecting twins though and it said, "My Pod Has Two Peas". Then another top said, "What's Kickin'?" The shirt is brown with green, pink, or blue lettering...depending on if one knows what they are having and what it is. Last but not least, I purchased 2 Bella Bands. Has anyone heard of these? I saw an advertisement on-line and got so excited!! Basically, they are a tube top for the belly area which bridges the gap b/t the pants and tops. These bands keep everything in place and gives one a layered look without having to jump into maternity clothes!!! They were $30 each, but I would have paid that on the internet with the shipping and handling cost. Well, anyway, I just wanted to share something that was a neat discovery and such a blessing for those already expecting!!! I wished they'd had these when I was pregnant 4 children ago:) Oh well, at least they have them now...

Im absolutely terrified....But I have been reading a lot of these posts, and i noticed that there are several women with more than 3 or 4 kids. And everyone seems so happy that they have twins. So I hope I can join in on conversations with everyone. I am 12weeks 5 days today. and due March 26th 2009.

The good news is that you are a very experienced mother and your third child will almost be in school by the time you have the twins. You have so much to look forward to. Yes, twins will be twice the work but twice the love and cuteness too. I have 4 children with 1 on the way, and no twins, but waiting to see on my 11 week u/s this Thursday morning what is going on. I'm either farther along, carrying multiples, or it is just what it is. I would be happy either way, no matter what, but hoping for a healthy baby in the end. I wish you all the best and am so excited for you and your family!! Keep your spirits up and know that God had a plan to bless you twice once again!!! Smile:)

Don't feel bad Heather, I have 18 month old twins and a 6 year old, I just downsized my vehicle from a Tahoe to a sedan and have been on BC since they were born. I got preggo on BC and with twins no less! I don't have room fro any more babies in my vehicle and now will have to give up my G35 because I can't afford it anymore and because it doesn't fit. And by give up I don't mean trade in, I mean I will have to give it back for a bad mark on my credit because i am upside down in it (another long story). My parents are gracious enough to give me their Tahoe, but the seats aren't wide enough for two car seats and a 6 YO so I can't use it, so my mini van budget is $6000. I will have to quit my job to be a SAHM because I won't afford daycare and I really like my job. I feel like everything is crashing down on me right now, but I think it will get better as soon as I start feeling those little flutters again. I just try to keep a positive attitude that everything will work out to get me through the days.

Hello, my name is Heather and I have just joined this board. I have 3 children, 10yr old girl, 8yr old girl, and 4 yr old boy. I was actually completely done, and husband was even scheduled for a vasectomy this summer, but I have turned up pregnant, and on top of that, with twins.
I actually have been beyond depressed. I was REALLY looking forward to my son starting school and me being able to finish school, it has been hard for me to accept that my plans have completely changed. And I am so scared to have twins, I feel like I wont be able to do it.
Oh boy... I can SO understand. My husband and I were trying for a third all last year. We have a 6yo boy, and a 3yo girl. It took a YEAR to get pregnant. I got pregnant at Christmas... At DISNEYLAND of all places! (Not in the park, of course!:snicker: ) Then, I miscarried at 13 weeks. I was done. No more. The Dr. even told me that in order to get pregnant again I would need fertility drugs. SO we gave up... I started working out, trying to get in shape, and just planning our life with our kids. Then it happened. I was pregnant. We werent even trying. I was not happy. At all. Devastated.
I didnt tell anyone, besides my husband. I wanst sure if it was even a viable pregnancy... Then I had my first ultrasound... Not just one, but 2??? I almost fell off the table. I bawled all the way home. I called my sister BAWLING. The last time I did that, it was because my dad had died.. SHe thought it was my mom this time.. Oops. Then I called my mom. I was crying so hard that all I could get out was... I just got back from the Dr. She thought I was dying. When I told her I was pregnant with twins.. She laughed at me. I guess that kind of put it in perspective for me. I guess it isnt as bad as all that. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment right now, and will have to move. We have already gotten rid of the BRAND NEW Matrix we just bought last year.. That is what bums me more then anything. I LOVED that car! Now I have a minivan. Its nice.... but not SPORTY!!:lmao: Im still freaking out, but I am alot better then that first weekend.

Good afternoon twin mommies! What a morning, to say the least:) My DH is out of town to New York and my van has a flat tire sitting at the OB office parking lot. Of course this happens when he's gone and there is carpooling duty and preschool today!! Well, anyway, just wanted to let you all know that there is just only one in there. One of my friends said that maybe it's hiding though? And I said to not even go there and get me started. Baby is doing well and looks great though. Actually, the baby is measuring a few days ahead of schedule. So, there is a chance that I could go sooner at the end of March. My 4th one was 9-1 and he came out on his own a week early. I thank you so much for being supportive and truly appreciate the kindness you've all shown. I will miss the rest of you. I hate to leave this forum because I really like you girls!!! I will be checking in to see how everyone is doing and hope that all goes smoothly. Lots of love, hugs & prayers...Holly

P.S. Are any of you breastfeeding your twins? I think that is great if you do and such a beautiful bond to share, but not judging those that won't or haven't. I would have welcomed 2 blessings, but felt like it was a relief that I wouldn't have to decide to choose to nurse or not. I am an all or nothing gal, and I didn't want to mess with the pump at all. Mostly because it's foreign to me and I have never done it before. So, now I can enjoy knowing that I will be able to still nurse and not worry about that decision. Having an increased chance of a c-section was stressing me out over establishing the milk supply coming in later. I know one is more sore and slower to recuperate from the surgery as well. I already have 4 children and no family help around either. Needless to say, this is probably the best for me and my situation. Good luck to all of you and congratulations to all twin newbies yet to join!...Holly:)

I'll be nursing the twins. Formula is disgustingly expensive, there's no way I'm going to FF two. Plus, like you said, it's such a beautful bond, I'd hate to deprive my babies of it just because they happen to be twins.
And congrats on your healty baby!

Kristin, thanks for writing and the info. I will check it all out...
Danelle, that is great that you are going to nurse the twins. I am in agreement with the cost of formula and nutrition of it, especially times 2! All one can do is at least try and attempt it, no matter if it's with 1 or 2 babies. Some breastfeeding is better than none, I think. I was just feeling stressed of having to decide and make the choice, particularly if it was a c/s or vag delivery.
Thanks again for thinking of me, wishing me a warm "congrats"! Here's to all of us having smooth pregnancies and our healthy babies:)

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing:) I have decided to join the ranks of SAHM - I think I decided during the birthday party yday. I definitely have mixed emotions about this but I think it is best for my kids. Besides, I had no idea how to find a nanny for 5 kids under 3. So if anyone finds a good mini van let me know because it looks like I am now car shopping.
I am also on board for BB if you can. Hope everyone is happy and healthy :)

Serenedream, I would recommend a a minivan that offers 8 seats with having the second row middle seat as an option to fold down. I can't think of the makes/models at this time. Right now, we have a (7-seater) Pontiac Montana but will be keeping it now that we know there are no twins. It will still be tight and no carpooling with others for now, but can get by around town if need be. As my children get older, they can stay home with the younger ones if it's a quick 5 minute errand during naps. I said that we can take the suburban to have extra room and be more comfortable on long trips though. Both are decent looking and my DD said that at least our van doesn't look like it's driven by a Grandma!...even though there are days I feel and look like one:)

I don't look forward to mini-van shopping. I've avoided getting one for 9 years, and now that's my only option (I don't want to do an SUV--they're too tall, and I'm too short). I still can't believe we're going to be a family of 6!
I was so happy to feel baby A moving around quite a bit last night. A's the quiet one, so it was nice to have that reassurance. :)

I always swore that I wouldn't drive a minivan. I'm young I'm only 26 and after the twins turned 1 we finally bought one. The camry that I was driving was just to small for us to get anything in. Now that I have it I LOVE IT!!! I love that I can push a button and the doors open or close and the all the seats fold down. We have the Chrysler Town and Country Touring editon. Its longer than a normal mini van so I have the extra room behind the back seats to put the stroller and groceries.

My husband just bought us a a Toyota Sienna.. Its really nice and seats 8. My 6yo was so excited when we picked him up from school in it.. He has always wanted a minivan. I still dont like driving it though...

I just realized that if we have g/b or g/g twinks - then I have 'most' of the stuff. I actually sat down today and ran some numbers and I am definitely going to be a SAHM for the next year at least. My DH already found someone to buy my Spider (sniffle), but we really can't justify having four vehicles, so we have a Highlander his truck and maybe a minivan. I just hate the idea of driving a minivan and I guess my monster-in-law is not happy that we are having more multiples - she had this weird expression when we told her last week. It was kind of like I can't believe you are having more when you already have three and this was so definitely not planned. I am trying to have faith that everything will work itself out bc I could so go crazy thinking about the what ifs. I had a doctor's appointment because I was spotting over the weekend and flipped out about it (got referred to a peri and not the one we used for the last pregnancy) and she says that everythings looks "very good" so that is reassuring. Hope everyone is happy and healthy :)

Any suggestions on newer minivans out there that offer the 8th seat now? We are hoping to get one that isn't new on the market in another year or so...

Do you buy used or brand new? We get gently used with around 25K miles on it already, give or take...

Have a nice weekend! I think that I have some homework to do on minivans:) I am intrigued and curious now, but can't ask my DH since he's not back from New York yet...

I was uncertain about the initial minivan change as well, but looked forward to the several positives that outweighed the cons. I am a proud owner of our Pontiac Minivan for 5 years now and will seat our family of 7 just fine come next spring:) My almost 11 & 8 year old sit in the third row with the 4 year old in his booster seat in between them. The older two don't need any car seats at all. The 2 1/2 year old and newborn will be in the captain seats in the second row behind us. Fortunately, my preschooler can buckle ad unbuckle himself by now. So, that will be nice to not have to reach all the way back there to help him get in and out. Our next one will be an 8-seater eventually, but our van is paid in full and enjoy not having the car payments being a SAHM! They get good gas mileage, safe to drive, store a lot in back, are comfy, up higher but not too much, have more room for changing clothes, at a good level for helping with car seats, decent price when gently used, and easier for little ones to get in and out on their own. I was just excited to have the extra room without having to drive around a boat on wheels. Those beasts can be such gas hogs, up too high, and hard to see in. You will think differently once you convert, and wonder why you didn't just do it sooner. I think that car insurance goes down some when one drives a more conservative versus sporty car as well. It will pay off and be worth it in the end...
P.S. Sorry for being confusing, as I messed up my post and ended up writing a few separate ones by mistake...pregnancy brain and I am sticking to it!:)

I just wanted to see how all of you were doing. I guess you are probably all finding out what the sexes of your babies are about now, I just found out we are having another girl. Her name is going to be Aubrie, we are still deciding on the middle name. Hope all of you are feeling well, and I still wish I could be having twins again right along with you. Good luck ladies they will be here before you know it.
