It's been really tough this week to eat anything. I'm either starving but get full after a few bites or everything makes me nauseous. And on top of that is the lovely indigestion. Anyone else having problems forcing themselves to eat?

I am fighting with the indigestion all day everyday. This has been going on for 2 wks now. I sware I cant eat anything without getting heartburn 20 min later. I have tried everything-- sitting up (as much as I can) after eating, not drinking while eating, eating bland food, not eating as much, drinking milk, etc.... I am maxed out on Tums and my doc said that I could take Mylanta, but that DOES NOT work!! I seriously have to force myself to eat. I have no appetite at all, but I know that I have to eat for the girls and myself.. The funniest thing is the ONLY thing that does not give me heartburn is a Big Mac from McDonalds!!! Crazy, I know, but I cant eat big macs all day everyday.... Any suggestions????

I'm finding that a lot of my food aversions are back and I'm much pickier about what I'll eat. Then, I'll try to eat it and be full so quickly. You are not alone! As far as heartburn, I've been on two different medicines from my doctor. I've tried both Zantac and Pepcid. I'm using OTC meds but doubling the dose per docs instructions. That makes it prescription strength. I still get some breakthrough heartburn but not too much. I wouldn't survive without the meds! I tell my hubby that it feels like I'm going to vomit acid if I don't take the meds. No fun!
I told my doc that I feel like a textbook 3rd trimester patient. Blah! At least it's almost over!! :proud:

I posted something like this last week (I think?) But after my OB appointment I started on Nexium, and it has really done the trick. I almost never have any reflux/heartburn anymore, and my appetite has returned for the most part. It might be worth it to talk to your doctor about it?

Thankfully I've only had heartburn a couple of times but I'm with you about forcing myself to eat. I think I posted about this last week or so but I'm officially SICK OF FOOD!!!!! I've also noticed my nausea has ramped up again and I'm not real happy about it. I can only hope that the next 6 weeks FLY BY!!!! You're not alone!

Appetite is not a huge problem for me so far but the nausea has returned for sure. I've already tossed my cookies a few times and there won't be any relief I'm guessing till the girls are here... Heartburn is managable, as well, with a couple of Tums a day. So we're all on the same boat one way or another :)

I hear you girl! I was ravenous the first and most of the second trimesters. Now I eat only my 3 square meals and don't even want snacks. I don't polish off my plate either (which is a good thing!) I'm a TUMS popper too--Zantac works pretty well and is over the counter...I wish I had more advice for you!

Food is not my friend either these days. I find that I have to eat about 8 small meals a day to get a significant amount of food down. If I eat too much I then feel miserable for about 2 hours. Oh the joys continue:)
I'm right there with you...I've actually had real trouble gaining any weight due to this. I've change my habits totally and try to eat really calorie heave foods as possibly since I fill up so quick. I am not a huge fan of fried food, but that's what I am eating now. I've switched my salad dressings to creamy high fat kind and I put mayo on my sandwiches (I normally do not) etc. It started working after a month or so. I am still low on weight gain overall, but in the past week I gained 2 pounds!! So my tip is allow your self to eat anything you can keep down or feel like eating, and try to go for high fat & protein choices.

Yup, me too!
I actually haven't gained any weight in about a month...but my dr. isn't worried, says I "did it right" for twins by gaining 35 lbs in the first two trimesters, and as long as babies are growing and my iron gets back up, not to worry any more about weight gain. Yay!
I would ask your doc about something stronger than Tums, an actual acid blocker not just an anti-acid...I'm not quite that bad, my doc said we could go there if needed.
And I completely agree about being sick of food. I actually have daydreams about waking up, drinking real coffee, and not eating... *snicker*

I'm going to check with the Dr about getting something for the indigestion. I just switched over last week to whole milk instead of 2% and have to force myself to drink any. It's so sad to lose your appetite especially when you know you have Dove chocolate just sitting there uneaten. LOL

Wow, I must be the ONLY one who is still eating like a horse! And since I don't sleep at all at night, I eat then too. :snicker: I guess that's why I've put on 45 lbs. :snicker:

nexium is awesome, and if it comes down to food vs no food, eat the big macs, you and the babies need it. heidi is having a really hard time with no appetite again. The nausea/vomiting is no better, and before as long as she forced herself to get something down, it helped her not to vomit, but now she can't even hardly force herself to ever eat. and Yep, I am the food police and drive her and myself nuts trying to get her to eat something, anything. She is still down close to 30# from her first OB appt weight, and will be 22 weeks on Sunday. I have been able to get her to drink some milkshakes and eat some cream chicken sandwhiches once in a while. But even those are few and far between. All I can say is check with your doc about the nexium, heidi is going to ask about it on the 22nd too, and just keep plugging away. grandma jodie

Augh, I hear you on the the uneaten bag of Dove chocolate. It is killing me, but the indigestion and nausea is back full force. In fact, I feel worse at night than I did in my first trimester. It is horrible. By 8pm, I am not a happy camper. In fact, I fell asleep on the couch at 10 last night, DH woke me at 11:30 to go to bed and I was up for 30+ minutes trying to fight down the acid that was racing up my throat! Augh!
