Well my DR called me this morning and said that I failed my GD test and I have to go for the 3-hour glucose and my blood count was low indicating I am anemic and must take iron supplements. He said not to worry too much because all this can be common with multiples and everything disappears once you give birth. So next week I have the 3 hour test and I am getting a nutrition guide. The only thing I will miss terribly is my ice-cream!!!!!! I love that stuff!!!!!!!! Oh well, but I will do what I have to do. At this point I just keep reminding its two more months!!!

OK, We will do this together!!! I started the iron supplements about a month ago and I am doing fine on them. They are over the counter. I had to take them with DD two.
I was borderline on the 1 hour, and took the 3 hour last week and it came back mild GD. I go see the nutrition specialist Monday.
I have my meals down well now. I am having a lot of turkey on whole wheat at lunch time. I am doing eggs with whole wheat for breakfast... I have been cooking meat, veggies and either brown rice or omitting the starch at dinner, adding an extra veggie and salad. We got sugar free chocolate pudding mix and made chocolate pudding with sugar free whipcream and that satisfies my sweet tooth. Unfortunatly, the pie is now gone, and I need to make more, so untilI do, I sometimes find myself waking up in the middleof the night to pee and sneaking a cookie or something else because I am really a cake and cookie junkie... But otherwise, I am doing well.
Hopefully the nutritionist will agree on Monday!
You are not alone!!!!

I failed the 1hr and am more anemic than I was with DS. I did pass the 3hr so anything is possible. I hope you can keep having your ice cream!

I just started GD diet and 4x day glucose monitoring. It will take some getting used to, but it could be worse! (Though I desperately miss ice cream and real peanut butter!)
The only sweets Ive been told I can have so far are berries, sugar free cool whip, angel food cake and sugar free jello. is sugar free pudding oK? Other ideas about GD approved sweets?

Sorry to hear you failed the 1-hour, but so many pass the 3-hour so I'll be hoping you pass the 3-hour. Sorry to hear about the anemia too, but hopefully the OTC iron will help with that.

I just got notification that I failed the one hour test too :( I will be taking the three hour next week....yuck. Had to do the same thing with DS...but passed the 3 hr easily. I am not terribly worried...they wanted the level to be less than 130...and mine was 133...so hopefully I will pass the three hour easily.
Fingers crossed that everybody passes the three hour :)

Sorry about your 1 hour...but you could pass the 3 hour still, so hang in there! Sending positive vibes your way! I am dealing with anemia issues, too! If you are taking iron supplements, stock up on fiber! :)

I passed the 3 hour too (75% of people do). Even if you don't pass just think of all the ice cream you can have AFTER the babies arrive!:)

Thanks girls for all the support!!!! I go in tomorrow for the 3-hour (yuk) GD test, I will let you know what happens. BTW, last Friday I had an appt. at the Perintology Dept. in the hospital and was put on partial bedrest because some difference found in the amniotic fluid with the girls. Eventhough they are weighing 2.5 and 2.3, they found B had less fluids in her sac. They are not too worried yet, but suspect early signs of TTTS. They also would have liked a little more weight by now on each. This coming Friday, I have to go to another growth scan and cervix check along with a NST test in L&D. In other words, I will probably be there all day! They told me I might have to do this every week, but I am not complaining, as long as these buggers come out healthy I don't care how many appts I have to go to or whatever I have to do for them...I am completely in love with them and I haven't even held them in my arms yet!!!!
Hubby will be with me so he always keeps me calm. I was just thinking last night how in love I am with this man and how blessed I feel to have him. Since all these complications have been coming up, he's been there very step of the way, trying to do what is best for me and the babies. Mind you he already has taken all house responsibilites for months now like cooking, laundry, cleaning, and bathing our oldest daughter and taking care of her!
Above all I just feel blessed, sorry for the long post and rambling...
This seems to be common! I was tested today for iron and 1hr glucose. I do not know the results yet. I know from past that I can not take the 3 hr test, so I hope I pass the 1hr one... Good luck with all the tests girls!

Sorry so many of you are having to take the 3 hour. I had to take the 1 hour twice (first time I passed, second time I failed). I then had to take the 3 hour which was so boring!! Fortunately I had games on my cell phone and then I go moved to the room where they do NST and I got to take a nap. DH couldn't make it and hasn't made it to a lot of these appointments because he just started a new job.
With all of the "complications/side effects/or pain" we all go through, I just wanted to say though sometimes it's hard, (believe me I know!!) keep on thinking positive thoughts as we are all doing a wonderful job keeping both the precious babies and ourselves as healthy as we can. I am proud of myself and of all of us that have endured the physical and emotional changes we have gone through carrying our twins. I can't imagine what it would be like to have more than two!! Anyway, I will stop rambeling now...good luck to all of you with the 3 hour GD test. I cannot imagine going through this with out the support from all of you!!
:)
